ASUS ROG Strix XG35VQ

The Ultimate in Immersion

Gaming monitors are typically geared towards providing the best gaming experience possible. To do this, they often focus on response time and sharpness, although they may offer other features as well. However, there are few monitors out there that can really offer a completely immersive experience, one that is the closest thing possible to Virtual Reality without actually having a VR headset. There is usually something about them that detracts from the immersion in gameplay, and this is usually due to not covering the periphery of one's vision.

The ASUS ROG Strix XG35VQ 35” Curved Gaming Monitor is a model that provides the best immersive experience possible. This ultrawide screen curved gaming monitor wraps around a person's peripheral vision, providing the most immersive gameplay experience possible. This ultrawide monitor features an aspect ration of 21:9, with a high resolution of 3440 x 1440, providing an extremely sharp picture that is sure to rival any other gaming monitor. With a refresh rate of 100 Hz and a response time of 4ms, the VA panel of this display outputs a realistic image that is sure to make you feel like you are really in the heart of the world of whichever game you are playing.

No Features Left Out

The amazing visuals of this monitor are matched by the features that it comes with, all of which are meant to help provide the best gaming experience possible. The integrated ASUS Eye Care technology helps keep your vision clear and focused during marathon gaming sessions by automatically adjusting the display to less eye fatigue. The monitor also features orientation adjustments to let you adjust the monitor to the perfect viewing angle, including height, tilt, and swivel controls. The high refresh rate and low response time also enhance the gaming experience by ensuring that no frames are dropped and that the action happens at the exact moment you move your mouse or press a button.

This ultra wide gaming monitor not only works well, it also looks quite cool, with the ASUS Aura Sync RGB lighting that gives you a great backlight behind the monitor, as well as the LED lighting that is projected from the base. Plenty of ports are also included on the monitor, ensuring that you can connect it to your computer using the best option possible, whether it be HDMI or DisplayPort. There are even two USB 3.0 ports located on the back, giving you an easy connection for any external devices that you want to connect. Display

Ultra Low Motion Blur has to be seen to believed. If you can support the consistent frame rates, it really brings gaming worlds alive.

Key Specs

100hz refresh/gsync/1440p. This thing has it all, no questions that no other monitor besides the x34 can even touch this with a 10 ft pole.

Connectivity

The only reason I took a star away was the because its really difficult to use the USB ports on the monitor as they are in the rear and are covered, you cannot see them with turning the monitor upside down.

ASUS MG28UQ

A Worthy Competitor

Looking at the specifications of the ASUS MG28UQ, you could call it a serious competitor to other more expensive models. The ergonomic stand that this 4K monitor comes with allows you to rotate the display, pivot and swivel it, as well as adjust its height. In addition to such a convenient stand, the monitor can be mounted on the wall with the help of VESA mounts, giving you plenty of flexibility in where you can put the display.

The TN panel of this display has a 1ms response time that will handle most any fast-paced movie or game you'll find. The integrated Adaptive-Sync technology will ensure smooth visuals and responsive control, while the Flicker-Free technology will minimize the eyestrain screen flickering causes. It will also provide constant screen backlighting, enabling you to spend more time in front of the screen, a feature that is sure to be welcomed by anyone, gamer or not.

Review of ASUS MG28UQ 28" FreeSync 4K Gaming Monitor

Only the Best for Your Gaming Session

This 4K monitor is advertised as a gaming one, which is why the manufacturer also included some gaming features and settings for you to play with the most comfort. The Asus GamePlus technology includes several features at once. The first one allows you to bring up one of four crosshairs to use while playing shooters. Others are a timer, which could be especially useful while playing strategies or MMOs; FPS counter that will show you a number of frames rendered per second, so that you don't need any external software to see it; Display Alignment, which will help you adjust the frame according to the screen.

One of the numerous features of this monitor is an ability to suppress the amount of blue light it emanates. This light is one of the main reasons why your eyes get tired. The included settings allow you to choose one of five levels of suppression for you to adjust it to your preference.

In addition to these features, the monitor also incorporates the Asus GameVisual Video Intelligence that has 6 different settings presets for different game genres, such as first-person shooters, strategy, racing or RPG games, as well as for working with photos or images. In order to make it even more convenient, those modes can be switched with a hotkey.

It doesn't matter how you plan to use the monitor as the number of interfaces ensures you won't run into a problem where you can't connect some device to it. HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort support the maximum resolution and refresh rate. Several USB ports will also allow you to recharge devices while you play. If for any reason now is the time for a headset instead of the built-in speakers, there is a 3.5 mm jack. With all of these included features and capabilities,  those looking for the best ASUS gaming monitor can find a worthy candidate in this model.

ASUS VG248QE

Keep Up WIth Fast Gameplay

A common problem with many monitors is that they are often not really optimized for gaming. A true gaming monitor needs to support ultra fast refresh rates and instantaneous response times, otherwise the monitor becomes an unfortunate bottleneck in the gaming experience. Having a monitor that can give you fast refresh and instant response is sure to give you an edge in whatever game that you are playing, and this model is one that can do this as well as, or even better than, any other monitor out there. If this is exactly what you are looking for, then we have just the model for you.

Review of ASUS VG248QE 24" 144hz Moninor with Built-in Stereo

Panel Type and Speed

The ASUS VG248QE gaming monitor stands out among its peers, as it has a TN panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate. This is a very high rate, in fact, one of the fastest refresh rates available, and it allows the gaming monitor to display not only an extraordinary true-to-life picture, but also immersive 3D content. The response time for this display is extremely low as well, being a mere 1 millisecond. Owing to this, you probably will not notice any aliasing when you play games or watch movies. The maximum contrast (80M:1) and brightness (350 cd/m²) will let you lose yourself in a clear bright picture even in direct sunlight.

The ASUS VG248QE supports the NVIDIA 3D Vision® 2 technology, so with special glasses you will be able to fully enjoy everything the 3D gaming world offers. It it also includes the 3D LightBoost feature, which doubles the brightness when you are using the stereo glasses. The Splendid™ technology enhances the image quality to obtain deeper colors, higher contrast and a brighter picture. The ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio automatically adjusts the backlight to get a perfect image. And to top it all off, the screen has two embedded stereo speakers, 2 Watts each. Those looking for the best gaming monitor at this particular size can end their search with this model.

ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC

Great Portable Monitor

Sometimes there is a need for a good portable monitor, usually for those who have laptops. Having a dedicated portable monitor that can be carried with your laptop is great for times where you need to have a second display connected, whether it be for showing off video or images, or even just as an extended desktop work area on the computer. Most monitors, however, are not made with portability in mind, especially the much larger models that are over 20 inches in size, so it is rare to come across a model that is.

The ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC 15.6" Portable Eye Care Monitor is one that was made to be portable. This monitor includes a 16:9 aspect ratio with the Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, ensuring that you have a Full HD workspace. This also helps ensure that it matches the resolution of most laptops, allowing you to either mirror the laptop's built-in display, or extend your desktop, giving you twice the screen real estate to work with. The monitor can connect to your laptop using the USB Type-C as well as Type-A, although you will need the DisplayLInk driver in order for it to work with Type-A. It even includes the USB Type-C to Type-A adapter, so you don't need to make a separate purchase for this functionality.

Review of ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC 15.6" Portable Eye Care Monitor

Protect Your Eyes

The portability of this monitor is hardly the only feature that it has. Included in its vast feature set is the ASUS Eye Care technology, which utllizes the TUV Rheinland-certified flicker-free backlighting along with a blue light filter to minimize eye strain while using the monitor, especially during long work sessions. For times where you need to make manual adjustments to the display settings, the monitor includes the intuitive ASUS DisplayWidget, which lets you easily change any settings that you need to in order to achieve the optimal visual quality.

The portability of this monitor shouldn't be understated. Its small footprint and extremely light weight of 1.7 pounds with a 0.3 inch thickness makes it easy to take with you anywhere you go, even fitting into your laptop carrying case with ease. The monitor also comes with its own Smart Case, giving it the maximum of protection while you are on the go. You can even adjust the orientation of this monitor to either portait or landscope mode, giving you an amazing amount of flexibility in its use. For those who need a great portable monitor, this model has all of the features and capabilities that anyone would want or require.

What Is an ASUS Monitor?

It is nearly impossible nowadays to find a person who hasn't used a computer before. Although most people aren't computer experts, they generally do know the main components of a computer. A monitor is one of those main components, the one that is responsible for displaying video that is output by the computer.

Long ago, almost all computer monitors were CRTs (Cathode Ray Tube), but within the last 10 years, those types of monitors have virtually disappeared and have been replaced by displays based on LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) technology. This has allowed monitors to become much slimmer than before, while having displays much larger than what was possible with CRTs. However, LCD technology has had some drawbacks in comparison to CRTs, most notably in their response time and color reproduction. Despite this, those issues have recently been adequately addressed by many of the advanced technologies that are now found in many high-end monitors.

ASUS has added to their reputation as one of the most well-known computer parts manufacturers in the world with a line of high-quality, high-performance monitors. If you are looking for more ASUS products, then take a look at our reviews of the best ASUS Chromebooks.

What Features to Compare

ASUS is known for making exceptional quality computer components, and their monitors are no exception. When buying one of their monitors, you can be assured of getting a great quality product. However, not all of their monitors are the same, as they make different models to fill different needs. Knowing what features and capabilities you need in a monitor will help you determine which model to buy. Below are some of the different characteristics that you should know in order to buy the best ASUS monitor for your needs.

Screen Size

One of the most important characteristics to be aware of is the screen size. Generally, most people would like to have as large of a screen as possible, although this isn't always practical in some situations. The different ASUS monitor models all have different screen sizes, so knowing which size you want will help you determine which model to buy.

Resolution

Another very important characteristic is the resolution of the monitor. All of their current models have a standard HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, but some of their models have even higher resolutions, with some being as high as 4K resolution or higher. Some of the smaller models will probably just be the standard HD resolution, but those who wish for more screen real estate, or a sharper image, may want to go for one with a higher resolution.

Panel Type

The panel type of a monitor is another characteristic that you should be aware of, as the different types of panels most often have advantages and drawbacks in comparison to others. The three main panel types that you will encounter are IPS, VA, and TN, which are all based on LCD technology. IPS displays are usually the ones with the best color reproduction, but have slower response times and are more expensive. TN displays are often thinner and cheaper, whereas VA panels are a great middle ground between the two other panel types.

Response Time

The response time of a monitor is an important characteristic for those who are often dealing with real-time graphics, especially gamers. The lower the response time, the faster the screen represents changes that are happening in the game, so those with the lowest response time are generally the best types of monitors for gamers.

Ports

The ports included in a monitor are very important, as they will dictate how you will be able to connect the monitor to your computer. Most of the models include HDMI and DisplayPort ports at a minimum, while some other models will include other types as well. Some of them will even include extra ports, such as USB ports, allowing the monitor to act as a USB hub for your computer. Of the biggest importance, though, is making sure that your computer has a video output port that can connect to the model you purchase.
