iRobot Roomba 890

Completely Automated

Vacuuming the floors is something that most people don't enjoy doing. It tends to be very tedious and noisy, and it often takes a long time, especially with large houses. There are also a ton of annoyances that people often have to deal with in the process, such as snagging the power cord of the vacuum, dealing with a limited range before changing the power outlet, or trying to vacuum around large objects that are too big to easily move. Needless to say, this often causes people to not vacuum their homes as often as they probably should.

The iRobot Roomba 890 Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Wi-Fi Connectivity removes the tedium from cleaning your home by providing a completely automated vacuuming experience. This Roomba vacuum cleaner provides a top notch cleaning experience thanks to its power-lifting suction, which provides five times as much suction as a standard vacuum cleaner, giving it high performance. The multi-surface rubber brushes on the vacuum allow it to easily and quickly remove dirt, pollen, pet hair, and allergens from almost any surface without worries of scattering any of it around the house. It is also able to easily adapt to almost any type of floor, including hard surfaces such as hardwood or tiled flooring.

Review of iRobot Roomba 890 Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Wi-Fi Connectivity

Convenient and Easy to Use

The power-lifting action of this Roomba robot vacuum is fantastic, but there are also tons of other features that it has to offer. Along with the premium 3 stage cleaning process that loosens, lifts, and sucks dirt and other dust from any surface, this vacuum included patented Dirt Detector sensors and ensure that the vacuum spends extra time cleaning the dirtiest areas, ensuring that all parts of the floor are clean. The vacuum includes a long lasting rechargeable battery that allows it to work on its own for up to 90 minutes, which is more than enough time to cover even a large home.

Setting up the Roomba robot vacuum cleaner is quite easy, as it can pair with a mobile app that lets you easily control it remotely, or set parameters for the automated cleaning process. You can even set a schedule for it to clean on its own while you are away, which is perfect for those who worry about it getting under foot while it is in the process of cleaning. Other features also include WiFi connectivity, an edge sweeping brush, and an auto-adjusting cleaning head. All of these features included in this robot vacuum cleaner make it a steal at any price, although this model is also affordable for most families, making it a high recommended vacuum.

iRobot Roomba 690

For Every Household

Would you like to keep your beautiful hardwood or tiled floors clean? Tired of constantly dealing with spills in the kitchen? Don’t worry, the iRobot Roomba 690 will lend you a helping hand. Despite its tiny size, this smart gadget yields enough power to clean the entire house of dust and dirt in a minimum amount of time. The benefit of this vac cleaner is that it quickly adapts to different types of flooring, meaning it will be effective both on carpets and hard floors. Highly sensitive sensors allow it to build an accurate map of your house so that it could avoid running into corners, furniture, and people. There's one thing about the iRobot Roomba 690 which might somewhat complicate its use - this robotic cleaner determines all high objects as obstacles and bypasses them; this may be a problem if there are many fluffy carpets in your house. Having said that, if your carpets are of standard thickness, the Roomba 690 will handle them perfectly. Furthermore, you can manually guide it onto the carpets using remote controls or voice commands so it doesn't consider them as obstacles.

It'll be fair to say that this robotic vacuum isn't the best option for deep cleaning, however, you won't find a lot of robots that would fit this task anyway. But if you search for an alternative to your regular hoover that would perform light clean-ups around your house, the iRobot Roomba 690 can be your best bet.

Review of iRobot Roomba 690 Robot Vacuum with Wi-Fi Connectivity

What Makes the Roomba 690 So Effective

The iRobot Roomba 690 is equipped with a special double-brush system that makes cleanups easier and more thorough, picking up both small dust and bigger debris like food crumbs, fur clumps etc. The device sucks up every speck of dirt it finds sending the air back through a filter that captures even the tiniest dust particles. With the purchase, you get one extra filter for free.

A virtual barrier is also included so you can restrict the movement of your Roomba vacuum cleaner. That way you can keep it away from small children and pets or make sure that it doesn’t accidentally slip out of your house through the door that was left open. The 690 model is also fitted with special Dirt Detect sensors that find areas with high debris concentration. Thanks to that, the device prioritizes cleaning ensuring that all parts of your house are equally clean.

The iRobot Roomba 690 is a solid choice for a big house. It's designed for cleaning up to 2,000 square feet on a full charge that lasts for an hour and comes with a good bunch of useful accessories. If these are the exact things you're looking for in a robotic cleaner, the Roomba 690 can be your best choice.

iRobot Roomba 675

Affordable and Automated

The Roomba Robot Vacuums have been around for a while now, first making a splash a few years ago when they burst onto the scene. However, people quickly discovered that these automated vacuums had some shortcomings, namely in price. Having an automated vacuum cleaner was an expensive proposition, with most models costing hundreds of dollars, putting them out of the range of many families. However, since those early days, the prices have come down to a more affordable range.

The iRobot Roomba 675 Robot Vacuum is a great example of an automated vacuum cleaner that is affordable for most families. Featuring a three stage cleaning system along with dual multi-surface brushes, this small but powerful vacuum cleaner is able to clean a house with little trouble at all. Even the toughest dirt and hair can be easily cleaned up, as this vacuum cleaner packs a lot of power in its small size. As is the same with the other Roomba models, this vacuum can be automated with a schedule that can be set through the iRobot HOME app, letting you schedule a cleaning for certain days and at specific times. The included battery power is more than sufficient for letting it cover a home, as it can run for up to 90 minutes on a full charge.

Review of iRobot Roomba 675 Robot Vacuum

Works Wonders in Your Home

This automated vacuum includes plenty of features that give it the ability to do a thorough cleaning. The vacuum includes Roomba's patented Dirt Detector sensors, which let the vacuum detect the dirtiest parts of your floor or carpet, and it will spend extra time on those areas to ensure they get a thorough cleaning. The included intelligent sensors let the vacuum easily move around obstacles in your home, as well as moving underneath furniture. However, these sensors are also able to detect when furniture has too low of a clearance for it to safely pass under, so there is no need to worry about it getting stuck.

Also included in this incredible vacuum is an edge sweeping brush that ensures a good cleaning along the edges of the wall and furniture, The 27 degree angle of this brush gives it the ability to sweep away dirt and dust from the edges without leaving any behind. The vacuum also includes many of the other features expected of Roomba Robot Vacuums, including WiFi connectivity, the auto-adjust cleaning head, and the ability to work on almost any type of surface, including hardwood and tile floors. Such capabilities packed into a powerful yet affordable vacuum cleaner make it one of the best values on the market.

iRobot Roomba 960

Ideal for Homes With Pets

Pets are found in the majority of homes in the United States, and with good reason. Many of them are fun, lovable, and brighten everyone's lives. However, there are some downsides to having pets, mainly in that some of them, especially dogs and cats, make a mess on the floor, including by leaving pet hair all over it. As any dog or cat owner can tell you, pet hair can be quite tricky to remove, especially with a vacuum cleaner. Although vacuum cleaners exist that specialize in removing pet hair, there are very few options for those who want an automated vacuum cleaner.

The iRobot Roomba 960 Robot Vacuum is the answer to every pet owner's prayers. This automated vacuum cleaner is great at removing pet hair and embedded dirt and grime that is left behind from pets. The power-lifting suction is up to five times stronger than what is found on most other vacuum cleaners, ensuring that all loose dirt, dust, and hair is removed. The three stage cleaning system also ensures that all dirt and pet hair is loosened, lifted, and sucked into the vacuum, with even the toughest spots being thoroughly cleaned. The dual multi-surface rubber brushes also work quite well in loosening up anything that doesn't belong there, and works equally well on almost any type of floor.
Review of iRobot Roomba 960 Robot Vacuum

Removes Allergens and Pollen

This powerful automated vacuum cleaner works great not only on pet hair, but on removing other allergens and pollen as well. The High Efficiency Filter ensures that up to 99% of all allergens, pollen, and dust is captured, including those as small as 10 microns. This makes this model perfect for those who suffer from allergies of any kind, and will help keep your home smelling fresh and without either odors or allergens. The patented Dirt Detector technology will also ensure that your vacuum spends extra time cleaning areas with higher concentrations of dirt, dust, and pet hair, giving your entire floor a great cleaning.

Many of the high tech features of Roomba vacuum cleaners are present on this model. The iAdapt 2.0 Navigation system lets the vacuum map the entirety of your floor while cleaning, letting it ensure total coverage throughout your home. The intelligent sensors let it work around and under any obstacles, seemlessly going through doorways and under furniture without getting stuck. The vacuum can be scheduled for regular cleanings at a specific date and time, which can be set through the enhanced iRobot Home App. With these and plenty of other features that come with Roomba vacuums, this model remains a great choice for anyone.

What Is an iRobot Roomba Robot Vacuum?

Want to keep your home spotless without having to crawl on your hands and knees to get to the fur or pet hair stuck under your couch or armchair? Here's the solution - an iRobot Roomba robot vacuum, a smart cleaner that will do the cleaning job for you. Many robotic cleaners can be programmed to switch on at a specific time on certain days of the week, in order to do the cleaning automatically without your supervision. Some of them have Wi-Fi connectivity and can be paired with a smartphone allowing you to control the cleaner remotely and view the progress of cleaning.

Compact and lightweight, Roomba cleaners can get into all those nooks and crannies of your house to keep it sparklingly clean. You will no longer need to spend your time on scrubbing carpets and dusting. The iRobot Roomba robot vacuum will keep dust and allergies at bay. It works for all floors and carpets and it won't miss a thing.

If you think you need an appliance for wet cleaning too, our steam mops reviews should come in handy. And if you plan a spring cleaning in your yard, consider purchasing a robotic lawn mower.

What Features to Compare

Compatibility with Apps and Gadgets

Thanks to numerous technological advancements, now it's become possible to guide a vacuum cleaner around the living room or any other room, set up a weekly schedule, and watch the progress of cleaning on the screen of a smartphone or any other digital gadget you use. For that, you will only need to download a Google Assistant or an Amazon Alexa, depending on the software that your gadget is compatible with. Older models, though, would come with remote controls and more basic setup options.

Cleaning Efficiency

Check what kind of brushes the chosen model of iRobot vac cleaner comes fitted with, to see whether it meets your cleaning needs. Some models are best suited for carpets, some are designed to be used on hardwood floors, while there are also those that could be used on all types of flooring, making them a universal solution. Many newer models can prioritize cleaning and detect even the tiniest specks of dirt and dust. And if you have a pet, we'd recommend you to look towards Roomba vacs that boast a strong aeroforce system giving them enough power to suck up fur clumps and dander.

Sensors

Good sensors are crucial since they not only allow the cleaner to accurately avoid obstacles on the way but also enable it to create a detailed map of your house to optimize every cleanup. Some newer vacs are able to detect those zones of your house that tend to get dirty more often than the rest and focus on them. On top of that, they are able to scan the room in order to detect tiny hair and dust that could have got caught in furniture or carpets. If there aren't enough sensors in the vac or they are weak, a vacuum cleaner will struggle to handle a large area and will most likely drive continuously over the same route until it runs out of power.

Programming

As you've made a decision to buy a Roomba, it makes sense to opt for a model that requires little to none programming, making your cleanups a breeze. Some of the newer models will only require you to set up when to power them on, while others might need you to set up some other parameters such as a flooring type, the size of your house, the preferable time (day, week etc) of cleanup.

Runtime

Even though most modern models are programmed to recharge automatically, the process still takes some time. Which is why it makes sense to check how long one charge requires, to make sure you're not going to wait for it a whole day. Also, it'd be sensible to check how big area you have to clean before investing in a vac featuring the longest runtime. If your place is not that big, there's no reason to pay more. The time which is considered standard and optimal for most robotic cleaners is 2 hours.

Did you know?

Robotic vacuum cleaners have become so commonplace that most people don’t give a second thought now to how these appliances do all that whirling in corners of the room to keep it so neat and tidy. But when you actually stop and think about it, robotic cleaners are an amazing invention, utilizing cutting-edge technology to keep us lazies happy and satisfied. How did it all begin? How long have these tiny helpers been around the US households? Let’s take a look.

A Company Is Born

Back in the distant past or, to be precise, in 1990 (almost 30 years ago now!), three MIT alumni with a passion for robotics got together and, in a daring bid for success, launched iRobot. The names of these three geniuses were Colin Angle, Helen Greiner, and Rodney Brooks and their business was, initially, aimed at creating military robots with a sparse line-up of domestic machines being developed slowly as well. Starting out with 3 bright minds, they went a long way and, these days, the company employs several hundred people.

More Than Ten Years of Protecting the Troops

The first breakthrough made by Angle, Greiner, and Brooks was Ariel. The cute name might deceive you but the device wasn’t some pool cleaning gadget. Developed via Genghis, a test platform for researchers with a strong interest in robotics, Ariel was a specialized system for mine removal, both on land and sea (do you see where the name comes from now?). The system went wide in 1996, scooped up by the military to protect the US soldiers abroad in combat situations. This brought the company renown and considerable funds, prompting them to keep growing and inventing.

Tiny in Size, Huge in Innovation

Now, as the 20th century ended and we turned over into the 21st, the company decided to branch out further into domestic products, finally offering a true home robot. In 2002, having spent a decade helping out the military, the company introduced the Roomba, a name that, in the following years, has grown to be instantly recognizable. The autonomous vacuum was a bold move, offering innovative programming to optimize cleanup and make the life of every homeowner easier. Interestingly enough, this was not actually the first robovacuum on the market with an Electrolux model introduced a year earlier. That one, however, failed to catch on, lacking the excellent programming and suction power of the iRobot product.

In just two years, a million units were sold all over the United States, the new gadget storming the market. It’s important to remember that Roombas aren’t exactly cheap and don’t fall into the “impulse buy” category, the customers thought long and hard but just couldn’t resist the pull of a hands-off cleanup.

And the Development Continues

More than 15 years later, the company shows no signs of stopping, having introduced multiple offshoots of the iconic cleaner such as the Scooba, the Dirt Dog, the Looj, and the Verro. With such innovative hits as the iRobot Roomba 980 robot vacuum, who’d even think of slowing down? Making lucrative offers to the current genius minds, merging with the competition, iRobot is not about to stop innovating. From the older 665 and 880 to the brand new 900-series, the Roombas are keeping households immaculate all over the world as well as giving your cats a fun vehicle to ride.
