This earphone/headphone amp is great, it makes your headphones come alive!
No joke! If you like great performance from your earphones/headphones on the go, then this is your choice.
This is definitely worth it and something you will definitely enjoy this quality sound and power.
Excellent build quality. This improves the sound of my iBasso tremendously.
Doesn't appreciably increase sound VOLUME. It enhances the quality of the sound, but not to the degree of being worth a hundred bucks. FAIL.

If you have a good signal (the DAC that you are using gives a quality analogue signal) then this amp will open up the sound stage even more.
I was looking for a portable amp powerful enough for the HD6XX because of the 300 ohm and the FiiO A5 does the job.
Has a huge high low gain, with bass adjuster that is serious about adding some bass. this will easily power any headphones.
This isn't my first Fiio product nor my first Fiio amp. Quality is excellent price vs performance very good as well.
No matter what setting I try it on it it made my music sound muddy.

I really liked my first version of the NX1a for years that I wanted to test this NX5 as it was on sale, good features, power, cool sound.
Perfect match with my old and real Sennheiser CX 300 earbuds that I have owned for years.
Anyway, just have it and enjoy as long as you have a very decent pair of headphones or earbuds, i really recommend this, cool features on this.
Just a small bémole I want louder though it is very bad for my ears.
The bass switch works well but not over powering. The battery does not last very long I get just over two hour from fully charge.

Construction feels solid, buttons and knob movement is smooth. It will play loud enough to induce physical pain!
Battery life is great. I flew from Texas to Washington DC round trip and didn't have to charge it.
Very impressed, i use daily to power my headphones and as a 2nd amplifier to my studio speakers. Very nice finish to it, battery lasts 8-12 hours.
Other than a high gain and bass boost switch it's a pretty slick portable amp.
The unit's charge LED will blink red when charging and solid red when fully charged. It would have been better to turn a lamp green when charged, so there is room for improvement here.
