About the Product
An evolution of the multi-award winning BR2, the MR2 tunes the considerable talents of its forerunner to a new intensity. Improved crossover and driver designs combine to re-calibrate the capabilities of an acknowledged class champion, bringing greater dynamic expression, mid-range clarity and lower distortion to lovers of music and film sound. Loaded with a 6.5” MMP II bass driver and 1” C-CAM tweeter, the MR2’s high quality cabinet mirrors the unobtrusive dimensions of the celebrated BR2, and so is easy to position, even in smaller rooms. Compact in size, but equipped to reproduce sound of immense stature and detail, the MR2 represents a stunning advance from every angle.
Monitor Audio's Bronze 2 bookshelf speaker builds on the strength of its predecessor the Bronze BX2's audiophile credibility with a neutral tonal balance and high detail resolution combined with high overall efficiency and power handling. These are the perfect ingredients for compelling listening.

Monitor Audio Bronze 2 Bookshelf Speakers - Black Oak
  • They're built extremely well and the walnut finish is gorgeous. They're also extremely easy to power.
  • Aesthetically, the Bronze speakers are very, very attractive and amongst the best-looking speakers I’ve ever seen.
  • While these speakers have front ports, they need room to breathe and greatly benefit from good speaker stands.
  • Great highs and very good lows. Very good fit and finish. They are also bi-wire and bi-amp capable.

Monitor Audio MR2 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker, Pair
  • Second set of Monitor Bronze I have owned. Great sound, solid but light with great separation.
  • These speakers are crystal clear and reproduce sounds faithfully!
  • Lovely looking speakers and the sound quality is excellent, reminiscing with my old vinyl and the playback through these brings them back to life
  • Soundstage is pretty good for this category of speakers. Recommended for an entry level HiFi-enthusiast which they are intended for too.
  • Very good bass and superb clarity even at very high levels, they can fill a big hall with sound completely and still have a lot to go and make the neighbours feel the punch.
  • Good treble and midrange but bass is not impressive at all
  • I am not that happy with them, because I have found that vocals are not that clear, I often sit there when listening to songs, thinking I can't understand a word there singing.
Monitor Audio Bronze 2 Bookshelf Speakers - Black Oak
  • I absolutely love these speakers. They're crisp and clear without being harsh, and the bass extension is low without getting muddy.
  • I have never heard bookshelf speakers sound this good, regardless of price range
  • The upper octave extension is lovely. These speakers sound much better than many other costing as much as 3 times more
  • They are hooked up to a Onkyo TX-8160 receiver with two pairs of Canare 4S11 speaker cables each side, on Pangea 24" speaker stands. Source is an Akai BT-500 turntable with AT95E cartridge, connected with Audioquest YIQ-1 component video cables. Great!
  • Bass might be a little thin for cinema (you'll want a woofer) - we use for mostly for music without a woofer and are perfectly happy. Nice looking units too!

What customers say about "Features"
Monitor Audio MR2 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker, Pair
  • Very good speakers, they play with samsung dvd and song is quiet
  • Nice sound with both cd and vinyl, look good
  • Beautiful looking pair of speakers without grills
  • Just purchased the Bronze 2 speakers as a secondary set for my kitchen, its hooked up to the Cambridge CXA 60 amp so i can have these on at the same time as my main Q Acoustics speakers in the living room
  • They look excellent with or without mesh, very good sound quality at reasonable price
Monitor Audio Bronze 2 Bookshelf Speakers - Black Oak
  • They sound great playing any genre, but they do seem to really shine with jazz. I would absolutely recommend them.
  • No more harsh treble, regardless of the listening source. And the bass coming from these… it was unreal. With the Kenwood, these bookshelves hit like a pair of 10-12 inch woofers, no lie. The overall soundstage was (and is) simply incredible when paired with the vintage Kenwood KA-7300
  • I believe Monitor Audio has been successful in recreating the naturalness of that speaker but made it better in all ways. The punch, the bass these speakers create has to be heard to be believed.
  • These speakers are the clearest sounding speakers in this price range that I have ever owned. I would strongly suggest these to anyone who listens to a lot of jazz, classical or even indie rock.
  • My only caution would be that these Gems take a while to break in before they do they can sound not as good as they should
