Bowflex SelectTech

BRINGING YOUR WORKOUT ROUTINE TO THE NEXT LEVEL

The Bowflex SelectTech is not something you could see at the local gym, but why is that? An improved design over the classic kettlebell includes a simple, yet convenient handle, but that’s not exactly it.

First of all, the thing that separates this model from the regular cast iron products is the ability to adjust the weight of the kettlebell. By adding or removing the weights included in the package, you can conveniently adjust the overall weight of the kettle according to your workout or fitness needs. This can easily be done using the built-in weight dial that makes tuning the required weight with a single turn.

Moving on, the high dense plastic body of the kettlebell makes it nice to the touch, which is a big plus in our book. This allows working out longer without feeling discomfort or using special workout gloves. The only thing that we’ve noticed is that it takes some time to get used to the unusual shape of the kettlebell. That said, in the long run, the benefits of using such an unconventional piece of fitness gear outweigh the couple of training sessions it takes to get accustomed to.

In the end, this Bowflex SelectTech adjustable weight model is among the best kettlebells for home use around. Owing to the adjustable weight increments, it is suitable for people who want to get their bodies in shape and for users who exercise regularly.

LifeSport Premium

The Base and the Handle Both

LifeSport Premium Kettlebell is almost as good as the 'bell before, except that the product looks a little less elegant. Still, the core principle is the same, dividing the kettlebell into a high-density plastic body and a metal base with metal plates.

You can choose between two 'bells, the first letting you adjust the weight between 5 and 40 pounds and the second, reducing the weight twofold, between 2.5 and 20 pounds. Both products are made from one solid cast iron piece (aside from the plastic body, duh). Because the piece is so solid, the 'bell might leave marks and even scratches on certain surfaces.

The good news is the ergonomic handle, featuring a smooth, comfortable grip that's coated with a matte black powder-coated finish, enabling the firmest, most comfortable grip so that even sweaty, tired hands do not drop the kettlebell. Plus, the finish also makes sure that the chalk on the handle lasts longer.

Before wrapping this one up, we can really get behind the wide flat base, enabling safe kettlebell push-ups and renegade rows.

In short, LifeSport Premium Kettlebell is among the most versatile gym equipment pieces, facilitating strength training and metabolic conditioning and making sure that different skill levels can use the 'bell.

MDSTOP Adjustable Canvas

The Bag's Alright Too

MDSTOP Adjustable Canvas Kettlebell-Sandbag comes from a different angle. As you can tell, technically speaking, this is no kettlebell, not quite. No, this one's a sandbag that you can fill with different materials, thus adjusting the weight anywhere between 0 and 35 pounds.

On the one hand, this product is less convenient than standard adjustable kettlebells because you have to find the material and fill the bag. Also, the bag features no fill lines, so you have to weigh it (assuming that you want to know how much you're lifting).

On the other hand, unlike its plastic and metal counterparts, this soft bag will not scratch the floors and will certainly not leave any dents, so you can even drop the filled "kettlebell" without worrying about paying the long-term price. The high-quality buckle will prevent the sand from spilling, while the sturdy suture, high-density stitching, and encrypted webbing will protect the bags from ripping and tearing. Most people will find the handle pretty comfortable too, with its serrated plastic grip absorbing pressure, reducing hand strain, and minimizing slipping.

To give you the gist, MDSTOP Adjustable Canvas Kettlebell-Sandbag is what most home gyms can benefit from, training hard but without risking injuries and breaking everything around you.

Bionic Body Soft

Soft but also Hard

Bionic Body Soft Kettlebell is not adjustable, not at all. This one here is a classic, one-piece 'bell. Now, you can select between 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 pounds but these will be separate products.

They're traditional kettlebells, made from cast iron, so practically indestructible. The difference here is that they're also featuring padded vinyl leather covers, so you will not be worrying about damaging the floors and deforming the 'bells when you drop them at times. Plus, when you put the 'bells down, you will not be hearing that loud "thunk".

Design-wise, with the large ergonomic handle, these kettlebells enable performing large movements, gripping the 'bells with both hands without experiencing any discomfort. They come equipped with printed weight specifications but these prints seldom last, usually wearing off within the first two-three years. On the bright side, the aforementioned padding lasts, so you can put the kettlebells down and lift them up as much as you want, the 'bells will remain soft (well, the outside will).

In closing, Bionic Body Soft Kettlebell will fit gyms and athletes that know what they want and know the weight that they need. With these kettlebells, you can push the limits, training hard and always squeezing out that stubborn last rep.

Apex APKB-5009

Not a Toy

Apex APKB-5009 looks mean, not like those trendy gym equipment pieces nowadays that you can confuse with toys. No, this is one tough customer, with the 'bell made from solid cast iron and the plates, though looking almost as tough, from high-density plastic. The 'bell (well, basically the handle with the frame that holds the disks) weighs 15 lbs, the bottom plate weighs 5 lbs, and the disks also weigh 5 lbs, so, considering that there are 4 disks, you can adjust the weight between 20 and 50 lbs.

But, going back to the construction part, the kettlebell comes adopting powder coating, stopping rust dead in its tracks and preventing corrosion from forming around it. In the meantime, the textured surface will be protecting the 'bell from wearing and tearing, all while minimizing damage.

Because the product has been designed with increased surface space, the 'bell also accepts standard weight plates, so you can increase the resistance even more, though going above 50 lbs with kettlebells is not something that most people can handle. But, with the classic U-bar enabling improved control and firm grip, you can test that, holding the 'bell with both hands and executing large movements. In other words, even though beginners can benefit from this one as well, Apex APKB-5009 will attract seasoned heavy lifters first and foremost.

What Are Adjustable Kettlebells & Kettlebell Sets?

Kettlebells are underrated, most experienced gym junkies will attest to that. To make things clear, we're not dissing dumbbells and barbells here. No, they're great at what they do too. But if we had to choose between the three equipment pieces, it is kettlebells all the way, no contest, not even close. Unlike barbells and, to some extent, unlike dumbbells, kettlebells are total body conditioning tools, enabling strength, endurance, flexibility, and even balance training. They are excellent at improving body awareness and coordination and, beating the contemporaries, they're also the best non-running cardio facilitators.

The issue with classic kettlebells is that you cannot adjust the weight, something that all barbells and some dumbbells let you do. These variable kettlebells and kettlebell sets fix this issue though. With the former, you can adjust the resistance, mirroring the barbells' approach. With the latter, you're mirroring the classic dumbbell approach, going with quantity and accommodating varying skill levels.

As great as kettlebells are at enabling cardio training, nothing replaces running, so looking into these treadmills will not hurt too.
