The sound was very clear and in my opinion much better than my Pioneer Receiver costing a ton more when purchased.
Had it for almost a year now and it is working out wonderfully I love the amount of channels and ease of setting it up. Perfect if I must say so I have no complaints on this machine.
Happy so far, I have this receiver hooked up to my Bose speakers and they sound great.
The sound quality is really great, it's clear, nice bass and the 7.2 channel setting really surrounds you.
Sound quality and diversity of choices is astounding. This receiver has been a great pleasure.

Rock solid sound, super clear highs, much better than my retired Denon which was souding somewhat muffled.
Yamaha Receiver can create sound fields that is unbelievably as if you are surrounded by the speakers.
This is an awesome piece of equipment! Love the ability to watch TV in the Living room in full surround sound while the wife listens to Pandora in the kitchen.
The sound is fantastic; could not be happier with the performance. Been listening to radio and watching TV with it so far.
Less than a year after I received it, receiver stopped working. The volume went up full blast on it's own and pooof, it stopped working.

You can "AirPlay" directly from the iPhone, and even without AirPlay you can select from hundreds of internet based radio channels free of charge, many with very few ads, directly from the receiver's free app.
You can control the volume on Zone2 independently of Zone1 right from the iPhone app. Very cool.
The Android/iOS control application is well made and a good complement to the refreshingly spartan remote control.
The receiver is very powerful and easy to use. Hook up was so easy I did not require any reference to the manual.
The WiFi was a breeze to setup. Apple's AirPlay worked flawlessly. This feature will likely mean the end of our CD collection. The two zone feature works wonderfully as well.

The app works well on both my iphone and ipad. I’m just generally very happy with this purchase.
Easy setup and the Android app makes operation so easy.
It is probably the best AV controller app I've ever used and gives you complete freedom to select inputs and adjust volumes by zone from any smart phone.
Excellent sound quality, very good on-screen menu. I own several Yamaha receivers and this is easy to use and sounds the best!
iPhone app is easy to use. AirPlay is a great feature. Overall a well featured amp.

The receiver has 6 HDMI connects, which have worked flawlessly to connect a Bluray, Cable TV, DVD player, Apple TV to our LG 4K TV.
Offers Network through WIRED and WIFI. Always nice to have the second option in the event I move this to an area of the home that has no direct wires access.
The front HDMI input is great if you have something like a Roku stick. I can easily use one stick and just go from tv to tv with it.
Great AV system. My only grip is that there is one HDMI out, I wish there was a Yamaha with 2 out ports that wasn't so much more expensive.
The wifi sometimes fails to stream adequately. Best to place this where you can plug it into the network physically or near a wifi node. I'm not holding Yamaha at fault.

Automatic selection of input thanks to HDMI 2.x control, works great ! For instance, you are listening to TV and use the digital audio input.
The USB works. Connecting my digital camera to it works. Good quality, recommended.
The blue tooth music streaming works great, it's easy to setup, and my wife and I both agree that it actually sounds better than our Onkyo that died.
Wifi, bluetooth, upscaling, airplay, hdmi, and unlike my previous receiver which ran hot and I had to keep a small fan on it, this receiver runs cool.
Bluetooth from my phone is very cool. Just connect and play out of my Itunes.
