About the Product
The ASUS RT-AC66U is a 5th gen dual-band Wi-Fi router, and the launch platform for the new ASUS AiCloud service. Its speed reaches 1.75Gbps, utilizing the Broadcom 802.11ac Wi-Fi controller and working in 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The 5GHz band supports up to 1.3Gbps, exceeding current Gigabit wired transmission and 3X faster than 802.11n. The RT-AC66U offers smooth lag-resistant multitasking and super-fast streaming, while ASUS AiRadar intelligently strengthens wireless connections via powerful amplification, offering future-proof optimized performance.
RT-AC68U supports combined dual-band data rates of up to 1900Mbps. 1300 Mbps 802.11ac at 5 GHz gives Gigabit wireless data rates, while Broadcom® TurboQAM™ technology super-charges 2.4 GHz 802.11n performance from 450 Mbps to 600 Mbps with compatible devices. Powered by a dual-core processor, the RT-AC68U eliminates the performance drops that plague other routers with busy networks. So even on the busiest home networks, HD video streaming is always smooth, the latency low for online gaming and VoIP calls, and file downloads are never interrupted.

What customers say about "Key Specs"
ASUS RT-AC66U AC1750 Wireless Dual Band (5GHz + 2.4GHz) Gigabit Wi-Fi Router
  • This router is a welcome addition for me over my previous one, which gave me daily headaches with how it constantly dropped my internet and it's poor range and speed. I only have 75Mbps internet so the AC1750 more than handles my needs.
  • The range is excellent, speed is excellent, quality is excellent, build quality is solid.
  • It's a nice router, nice features, nice speed, nice coverage. You know it's an upgrade when things like Netflix stops buffering and you get full download/upload.
  • This is a nice upgrade from the RT56 from a few years ago. Which I also own. I currently have 200MBPS internet at my home. And my old router only allowed about 50MBPS per device. So I bought this router to see how much it improves my speed. it did.
  • Obviously broken. Wireless speed drops down to as low as 1.5 Mbps while sitting right in front of it. Constantly dropping connections. Streaming video is horrifically difficult, if it works at all.
ASUS RT-AC68U AC1900 WiFi Dual-band 3x3 Gigabit Wireless Router with AiProtection Network Security
  • I am able to travel much further in my immediate area then I was with my previous Dual Band router that supposedly had the same features and cost's more. If you are looking for a router that prioritizes streaming capability and has dual band connection this is the one.
  • I bought this on the recommendation of many reviews from multiple sources. It was easy to set up. It has good range and so far reliable.
  • The range is a solid 100 feet further out into the yard as well.
  • Want fast speeds, but don't want to feel like you have to take out a loan to do so? This is the router for you. Let's of customizable settings, and haven't had any problems yet.
  • Range is excellent, all through the house, and speed pretty much doubled my old 802.1n router. I like that I can set specific devices to use the 5MHz band for faster streaming while other devices are in use.
  • It says high range but it still doesn't cover my upstairs, this is for a one story house and u have to be in the next room to get good quality

What customers say about "Network"
ASUS RT-AC66U AC1750 Wireless Dual Band (5GHz + 2.4GHz) Gigabit Wi-Fi Router
  • I really like the adjustable antenna's . My only gripe is the brightness of the LED's, only at night, really not a big deal for me though. After setting this router up I was able to do away with my range extender.
  • The only setup trick I needed was to change the "Authentication Method" to WPA-Auto-Personal, and "WPA Encryption" to TKIP+AES. These settings allow for better compatibility if you have a mix of newer and older devices to support.
  • I quickly set up PPTP with MPPE-128 bit encryption to connect from my mac and pc (OS supported protocols) and I set up OpenVPN (cannot run concurrently), which wasn't so quick as it required some tweaking.
  • Each guest network can be independently granted intranet access, assigned encryption level and password, and have an optional lifetime timer (up to 24 hours).
  • Although, I should note it seems it is impossible to encrypt an AC connection with WPA2 encryption on this router.
ASUS RT-AC68U AC1900 WiFi Dual-band 3x3 Gigabit Wireless Router with AiProtection Network Security
  • The firmware is pretty standard but a decent interface. I use the built-in cloud software to access a USB drive from anywhere. I use the port forwarding a lot and it works fine too. A good router for me.
  • The 3 antenna helps with reception through the house.
  • After purchasing and installing, I can confirm that this handles all my devices now with ease. The router/network administration software is superb.
  • This router is really fast and reliable network. It has a high range of network that covered my entire house.
  • Price was good, however compared to my last router this Asus is extremely hard to install.
  • IPhone ios apps for this router is not working, can not connect. Same issue have many other users. No fix after 1 month of purchase

What customers say about "Security"
ASUS RT-AC66U AC1750 Wireless Dual Band (5GHz + 2.4GHz) Gigabit Wi-Fi Router
  • Supported by firmware such as Tomato and DD-WRT (though apparently not OpenWRT). I eventually flashed a derivative of the ASUS firmware called "Merlin" which has even more options, such as scripting, security enhancements, etc.
  • I plan to set up and install a Virtual Private Network, for security purposes and will use DD-WRT. This router CAN be configured to use DD-WRT, and I was amazed at how simple and powerful its GUI is.
  • There's even RADUIS Server options to further add security to WiFi, which has excellent signal strength by the way (I mow the lawn while streaming music without issue). The USB application for sharing a network printer is well-used, too, and managing traffic is a snap.
  • WPS for 5ghz reverts back to 2.4ghz.
  • There are some serious security bugs, although many have been fixed through firmware. The interface has a checkbox to disable non https connections.
ASUS RT-AC68U AC1900 WiFi Dual-band 3x3 Gigabit Wireless Router with AiProtection Network Security
  • My old router was hacked and didn't perform well with all the users in the house. This Asus ( & support techs) are the best. All the bandwidth we want, no reduced signals, and feel very secure with their firewall.
  • Very fast and secure router with many great options. You can even monitor from remote devices.
  • Not the easiest router to set-up but the performance has been excellent and the internet security features were highly recommended by IT professionals.
  • This router is Fast And more Secure than NetGear, no drop out! very nice router.
  • Love the router and how tight it is with security.
