The overall balance is outstanding I highly recommend these speakers.
I bought both monitors and they sound amazing. Very clear, wide stereo image and enough bass to feel it.
The monitor is very good quality. Corresponds to the description. I recommend this.
I dont think a Sub is needed with these but of course this is a personal preference.
This is a great monitor but unfortunately their have been component issues with the Adam A series.

I listen to primarily dance music so bass response is very important to me, and these are fairly impressive.
With jazz walking bass, every note is pronounced and very even. Blown away at what I heard. Installed at recording studio along with a full Danley system.
I have never felt that my mix was delivering something that they could not produce. Very revealing.
I just say that these bad boys are sturdy, thick, and destructive in all the right ways.
For a price ADAM beats most of the competitors in this price range.

Workmanship and design is, just as expected from ADAM, top-notch quality.
The A8X as monitors seemed massive. But this affects to the audio quality in a good way.
I am as mix engineer very happy because 38 Hz from this sized box is quite a feat.
In compare with oldest Adam model A8X looks Big & ugly, don't know why, probably the tweeter-woofer size ratio.
I think the A8X is "too big", the woofer makes the tweeter look "too small" disproportionate.

The ports are front facing so you have a true fullness to the bass resonance.
The overall balance is outstanding I highly recommend these speakers.
When you mix-down a song your high frequencies will not sound the same on other sources (other monitors, radios, iPods etc.).
With the monitor plugged in on a stand away from any source the noise/distortion still existed.

They are very smooth especially from 1-6kHz. I can't hear much above that. And I am satisfied with this speakers.
They are give an absolute transparent reproduction of the high frequencies, a good midrange and an excellent pulse fidelity in the lower frequency area.
A8X perfectly shows its abilities as a very capable nearfield monitor. I am satisfied with product!
Speakers has much better sound for drums, if you Mix & Master Drum Oriented music the A8X is for you.
While listening to opera, primarily female sopranos, the definitive fundamentals were not as pronounced.

I like this stuff, it looks like the stuff of my favorite home monitor. i recommend this.
I was told that X-ART tweeter is very good and of high quality, especially 7'woofers.
It's also great to have all the controls on the front of the monitor instead of having to reach around your equipment.
The stereo image is open with a lot of depth. You can hear and isolate frequencies effortlessly.
I had to return these monitors after the "A" monitor began to produce noise, crackle and distortion.

These speakers really have clarity throughout the spectrum.
These monitors are outstanding. With the addition of acoustic treatment opened my ears to all of the things going on in the mix.
These monitors with "X-ART" tweeter do sound different than conventional dome tweeters or horn-based transducers.
I like the extended bass response, it really fills the room. You can feel the air coming out of the dual front ports.
It doesnt have the tweak knobs on the back to compensate for room acoustics.
