The trap is very easy to set up. Also it's very easy to release the animal if that's what you have in mind.
This trap has allowed me to relocate all the cute but pesky critters.
So I finally threw in the towel and got two of these traps. I didn't want to hurt the rabbits, so those options were out of the question, but I DID want to relocate some of them and thin out the local population.
This Easy Set One Door Trap is better than the older two door trap, and I think safer for the user as well.
Once you do this the kick plate inside will close the trap door with a minimum of weight applied to it by the animal.

This is the first cage that has worked to catch some of my many ground squirrels. I have caught 6 since the trap arrived.
Wow, this trap really works--even better than I expected. The reviews and comments were helpful, too. So far, we've caught and released 10 squirrels in only 8 days.
Easy to use trap. Well built, sturdy construction. Upon first test, the trip plate was not sensitive enough to assure immediate triggering.
This is a great trap and very easy to use. It arrived late afternoon and with out waiting, we baited the trap just past the trigger plate with some peanut butter and put it out where the squirrels regularly moved about.
Once you trap a squirrel, he can push his way out of the trap. I've lost several of the tomato eating bandits. I have tried to figure out how to stop this.

Based on the size of the skunk I have seen, the trap is the right size.
This trap is the perfect size for larger squirrels like the gray squirrel that got in my house, and as the exterminators told me, one door traps work the best for squirrels.
Get a pad of the smallest size Post-Its and stick it under the release lever.
This is the correct sized trap to catch the Pepe Le Pews.
We had a few small to med size skunks in our yard and a camera to watch them.

The smaller size, and mid-trap located trigger plate of the old trap, meant that most of the time the squirrel could trip the trigger and still back out of the trap before it would lock the doors.
Overall, a good product, but I would recommend the next size up if you are trying to trap adult Rabbits.
The size of this cage is large enough even for a large squirrel. I
I like the simplicity of setting the trap and the convenience of it in size. It is well made.
Good size raccoon also made his way inside he now relocated away from under our porch .

The release handle is easy to trigger. You could stake the trap down to prevent this type of movement of the trap.
One more tip - when the Easy Set handle is pulled back to arm the trap, you can place something under the handle to shim it and make the trap more sensitive.
Like others, my trap did not get triggered, so I had to change the sensitivity of the platform trap.
Could probably rig up some sort of locking mechanism if you were concerned or had verified that a squirrel actually pushed/rammed his way out.
I really like the locking door mechanism. Easy to set and easy to release the critter once caught.

The ease of setting the trap and releasing the squirrel is by far the best selling feature.
The guard plate around the handle is a nice feature. The upgrades are well worth the few extra dollars for this model!
The easy set feature is worth the money.
While the easy-set feature is a great idea, this trap is a joke.
I've had other traps for squirrels & they worked great, this one I ordered because of the easy open & shut feature but-------the darn trap doesn't trap anything, big waste of money
