Harris Liquid Spray

Lasting 16 Weeks Straight

Even the most terrible infestations have nothing on Harris Liquid Spray Bed Bug Killer. This 128-ounce bottle will be able to exterminate them all, and still have enough in the tank to last a few years down the road. Sure, the full bottle is also pretty heavy but, as long as you're careful, you should be fine. Bed bugs (including their eggs) will not be fine though, even the pyrethroid-resistant ones.

Despite the bottle's size, this insecticide enables convenient spot treatment, covering different cracks crevices, and harborages, where you notice bed bugs, including bed frames, closets, box springs, empty dressers, carped edges, and more, as well as behind headboards, pictures, wallpapers, etc. The product leaves no visible residue yet its effect will last staggering 16 weeks, whereas most bed bug killer sprays usually start losing effectiveness around the 2-3 week mark.

Of course, as always, we do not recommend applying the spray onto bedding items and mattresses. Seams, fold, and edges are fine, but pillows and clothes are no-go. In closing, eliminating sizable bed bug colonies is a mission that very few products can execute as well as Harris Liquid Spray Bed Bug Killer, matching both the spray's effectiveness and longevity.

MGK Bedlam Plus

Not Staining Fabrics

MGK Bedlam Plus Bed Bug Aerosol works with wood, ceramic surfaces, and carpets. That being said, the product will not stain water-safe fabrics, so mattresses and even certain bedding items, clothes, and furniture pieces are acceptable surfaces as well. Aside from killing bed bugs (not excluding the pyrethroid-resistant ones) and bed bugs' eggs, this compound can neutralize lice and dust mites. The product does not irritate people and pets, that's the good part. The bad part is the charge is pretty weak, meaning that one or two sprays seldom cut it.

On the upside, the effect will last two weeks, which's not terrible considering that this is an aerosol-type bed bug spray. What's also not terrible is that the formula even works with less sophisticated electronics, like alarm clocks and radios.

Now, reading into this formula, the product primarily incorporates 3-phenoxybenzyl2, 2-dimethyl-3-(2-methylprop-1-enyl) cyclopropane carboxylate, N-octyl bicycloheptene dicarboximide, and imidacloprid, so avoid food areas. Other than that, you'll be fine. To top it all off, the product's shelf life stretches 3 years, as long as you store the bottle in room temperature and avoid high-humidity spaces.

mdxconcepts Natural Organic

Non-Toxic Approach

Mdxconcepts Natural Organic Bed Bug Killer is the most harmless product towards people and pets there is. Made primarily from peppermint oil (2%), spearmint oil (1%), and sodium lauryl sulfate (3%). Using essential oils, this chemical-free, non-toxic product is pretty good at eliminating bed bugs but not quite as effective as the sprays that use poisonous chemicals, which's understandable and not something that we can criticize. The oil-based compound will also not eliminate fleas, dust mites, and lice but the same can be said about most bed bug sprays.

What you cannot say about them is that they're employing stainless action, letting you spray anywhere and everywhere knowing that you will not leave stain marks on the surface. Bedding items, furniture, various cracks and crevices, this product can target and treat them all.

Even the bottle's alright, with a dispenser that's not too stiff but also not too loose, so you can easily apply the precise amount you want without worrying about overpsraying or underspraying. All things considered, if you do not trust synthetic pesticides, Mdxconcepts Natural Organic Bed Bug Killer will come to the rescue, killing bed bugs without damaging the surrounding environment.

Ortho Home Defense Dual-Action

Eliminating Fleas and Brown Dog Ticks Too

Ortho Home Defense Dual-Action Bed Bug Killer Aerosol is merciless. Bed bugs, pyrethroid-resistant bed bugs, bed bugs' eggs, fleas, brown dog ticks, this aerosol can neutralize them all. The biggest problem we have with this product is that the nozzle spray is too strong, so strong that some might find holding the spray for more than a few seconds quite difficult. But, considering that the fast-acting formula always eliminates the target pests upon contact, we can forgive this little mishap.

Incorporating 3-phenoxybenzyl2, 2-dimethyl-3-(2-methylprop-1-enyl) cyclopropane carboxylate, N-octyl bicycloheptene dicarboximide, and imidacloprid, this product is not quite as safe and non-toxic as the preceding bug spray but people and pets will not be harmed upon contact, so there's nothing to worry about on that front. The formula is non-staining, but we would not recommend spraying bedding items besides seams, edges, and folds. Its effect should last for up to two weeks, which is not great but also not bad as far as aerosol-type killers are concerned.

Long story short, people who are suffering from bed bugs but also have pets will surely get their money's worth from Ortho Home Defense Dual-Action Bed Bug Killer Aerosol.

Raid Non-Staining

Foam is Better

Raid Bed Bug Foaming Spray is more wasteful than you would expect, so the 16.5-ounce bottle will seldom last as long as its alternatives. Nevertheless, this is not a bad product, not one bit. First things first, the foam will expand into hard-to-reach places. Second, unlike aerosols and standard sprays, the foam will show you where you sprayed, preventing you from spraying the same spots twice.

Maybe this is thanks to the foam-based composition, maybe the formula using clothianidin (0.40%), metofluthrin (0.01%), and piperonyl butoxide (1%) as the main active ingredients, but the applied compound lasts twice as long as its competition. Only after ~4 weeks will the spray start losing its effectiveness. Safety-wise, the formulas have been texted by experts at the SC Johnson® Institute of Insect Science for Family Health, so you don't have to worry about harming someone you don't want to harm (including yourself, hopefully).

Last but not least, the spray will not stain water-safe fabrics and surfaces, which means that you can apply this compound pretty much anywhere you want. In other words, sure, this bottle will unlikely last years, but considering the affordable price and that you can treat mattresses, upholstered furniture, and carpets, Raid Bed Bug Foaming Spray should not leave you wanting more.

What Are Bed Bug Sprays?

There's nothing more pleasant than taking your shoes off and falling on your favorite bed when you get home after a hard day at work and, maybe, an exhausting training session at the gym. But, when the bed is crawling with bed bugs, that bed is the last place you want to be on. Bed bugs are terrible.

While they don't necessarily transmit diseases, these suckers bite and take blood. You can get secondary infections scratching the wound that they created. The itching can be unbearable. Rare cases can even cause anaphylactic and asthmatic reactions. The point we're trying to make here is that, even if you're not sure they're there (and bed bugs can be difficult to identify), taking preventive measures is rarely a bad idea, as long as you're using the right product.

Needless to say, this is where these bed bug sprays come in. Using these sprays, you can kill bed bugs (usually including the pyrethroid-resistant species), the suckers' eggs, and, sometimes, even lice, dust mites, fleas, and ticks. They're safe products that do not stain the surface they're applied onto yet kill these pests immediately upon contact and, more often than not, last weeks on that surface before evaporating.

The people who don't have bed bugs and are instead suffering from rodents should try these mouse and rat poisons and rat traps.
