The Smart Cut technology is able to sense how high and dense the lawn is and effectively apply the right amount of pressure necessary to cut the grass. It doesn't undercut nor does it overcut. The two batteries combined allow the mower to last for 60-90 minutes straight.
The lawn mower can be a little hard to navigate.
The GreenWorks GLM801601 keeps things nice and green but do not confuse its environmentally-friendly disposition for ineffectiveness. This is a powerful machine first and foremost. It is far more durable than your average lawn mower. There isn't a job too big for its steel britches.

The power cord is rather short and limits the coverage of the mower, meaning you may need to use an extension if your yard is on a large side.
The GreenWorks 25022' strength is the performance-price ratio. At a fairly affordable price tag, you can buy a high-performing corded lawn mower that will provide you with all the same modes and functions you'd get with more expensive counterparts.

Compactness and maneuverability of the tool will let you accurately trim grass around trees and bushes as well as other narrow spaces.
The biggest selling point of this lawn mower is its light weight. Weighing only 29 pounds, it's a perfect option for extended use. Plus, it doesn't lack in functionality and will best fit people that have not too big lawns.

GreenWorks GLM801601
Never Stops Cutting
The GreenWorks GLM801601 with that "pro" in the name doesn't fail to live up to the premise. The model is powerful, practical, and overall impressive. It is just about the smaller things as it is about the bigger details. But let's start with the latter first.
What the people behind this product are trying to sell is that, with this lawn mower, you'll never have to stop cutting. And we can't say that they're wrong to make that claim. Where your average mower like that comes equipped with a battery that lasts somewhere around 30 minutes, the GreenWorks GLM801601 demolishes that number. One of its batteries is able to last for 45 minutes straight.
That's right, one of its batteries. The biggest difference is that the mower comes armed with two batteries. With these two batteries, it is able to last for up to 90 minutes straight. There's very little chance the mower will ever give up before you do.
Needless to say, the model's brushless motors are far "greener" and more environmentally-friendly than your average gas engine. However, generally speaking, the latter have the former beat in the performance department. That isn't the case here. The motors here are probably more reliable and very well able to deliver gas equivalent performance to a 160cc gas engine, really impressive stuff as far as brushless motors are concerned.

Smart Cut
The aforementioned bigger details do not end with the model's two impressive batteries (though it is probably the product's biggest selling point). We've seen the Smart Cut technology in the company's mowers before but here it's been revamped and improved a lot. The technology is able to sense how high and dense the grass is and effectively apply the right amount of pressure necessary to cut the grass. It doesn't undercut nor does it overcut.
Other than that, it is the smaller things but they do add up to make a decent difference too. With the model's easy push-button start, you're able to get the proverbial ball rolling without having to pull any cords. Though it is really powerful, the mower is about as silent as they come.
Finally, the wheels here are huge, 7" front and 10" back. With wheels like that, you're able to virtually glide through any terrain with effortless ease.
Long story short, the GreenWorks GLM801601 keeps things nice and green, but do not confuse its environmentally-friendly disposition for ineffectiveness. This is a powerful machine first and foremost. It is far more durable than your average lawn mower. There isn't a job too big for its steel britches.

Sun Joe iON16LM
Environment's Friend
There is a lot to like about this electric grass mower. But, if we were forced to choose one particular aspect of the iON16LM model that defines this machine better than the rest of them, its environmentally-friendly design would probably take the cake.
Thanks to the brushless motor that runs on a rechargeable 40V EcoSharp battery system, you will be able to ditch oil, gas, those obnoxious fumes, as well as the inconvenient pull-cords and extension cords. The battery will give you up to 40 minutes of runtime on a single charge with no carbon emissions.
But despite the eco-friendly and seemingly toothless design, what we have here is a real dynamo. The said brushless 600W motor gives you increased battery efficiency, outstanding motor performance, as well as extended motor life. It should last for about 2 thousand hours, so you'll be able to keep your mowing game strong season after season.
The motor itself is robust but so are its components. The durable steel blade cuts with solid precision. It doesn't feature the most outstanding cutting width but a 15-inch wide path that it mows in a single pass will be enough for your average user.

Lawn Ranger
Motor aside, there's a lot about the model's design that we could talk about. For starters, we could mention the corrosion-resistant deck, a part that makes the whole machine quite a bit more durable to the wear and tear of time.
The rugged front and rear all-terrain wheels also deserve some recognition as they make it much easier for you to maneuver in and around tight spaces.
Sure, it has one or two flaws. The biggest issue that most people have with it is the relatively loud motor that runs counter to the advertised "whisper-quiet operation". But it really isn't that much louder than your average cordless electric lawn mower, so we wouldn't really hold it that much against the model.
Plus, what it lacks in quietness, the mower more than makes up for in ease of use. You won't need any tools to adjust the model nor to tweak its settings. It takes but a single push of a button to get this machine started. The collapsible ergonomic handle maximizes user comfort and allows you to adjust it the way you see fit.
Speaking of adjusting things, the 6-position height adjustment lever makes it really easy to choose the grass cutting height. Finally, the grass indicator window will let you know when to empty the bag if you choose to go with the rear bagging mode.
To put all of it differently, the Sun Joe iON16LM is one of the most environmentally conscious choices. But don't let its friendly nature fool you. What we have here is a real lawn ranger, a powerful machine that will help you keep your backyard looking nice and pristine.

GreenWorks 25022
Type
Right of the bat, the Greenworks 25022 is a corded model, unlike the other two entries on the shortlist. This means you will need either a power supply nearby or use an extension cable to increase the tool's reach so it can get to all remote bits of your lawn. Of course, not all people find that convenient but corded operation brings its advantages too. Among them, power is the most remarkable. Compared to cordless garden tools, corded machines allow you to do what you do as long as it is required without compromising efficiency. Plus, they often work faster than cordless tools. If that's the kind of tool you need, the Greenworks 25022 can be the right thing. However, before you make a decision, let's break down the other key features of the tool, namely its performance and usability.

Performance
Like we said before, the key feature of this lawn mower is that it is fitted with an electric engine and thus depends neither on fuel nor batteries, giving you non-stop operation time for trimming your lawn. That said, seeing as this lawn mower falls into the budget category, it's best to give it short breaks every 20-30 minutes to let the engine cool down. Doing this way, you'll be able to significantly prolong the service life of the tool.
Now the cutting height of the mower is adjustable: you can change it in a range from 0.5 inches to 3.75 inches. This range is enough to let you mow tall grass as well as short one with ease. Plus, it is equipped with wide 20-inch blades - thanks to this you will be able to cover a larger area in fewer sweeps.

Usability
Usability features include light weight of the tool and, of course, its powerful, wide wheels. Similarly to other lawn mowers, the GreenWorks 25022 features 3 cutting modes and 7 cutting height positions. The cutting height is adjusted on all four wheels at the same time by simply turning a lever. The foldable handle makes this lawn mower convenient to store during the off-season, while a convenient pushbutton ensures easy starting of the mower.

Sun Joe MJ401E-PRO
Type
The Sun Joe MJ401E comes with an electric engine and operates via the mains connection. It's a self-propelled tool that is best used on small to medium-sized areas not bigger than 1/4 acre. That being said, you're only limited by its cord, which means if you have a larger plot you can easily extend its coverage by using an extender. Now let's move on to performance and see how this lawn mower stacks up against other types.

Performance
The cutting height of this lawn mower can be adjusted to 3 positions. Moreover, you can choose how to adjust it: either at each wheel separately or the entire axis. The height settings vary from 1.18 to 2.52 inches allowing you to mow both short and tall grass with ease. Speaking of the width, it is 14 inches here, which is average but more than enough for reaching grass most everywhere, including between trees and under shrubs. The main benefit to this lawn mower though is that it's powered by an electric engine that will allow you to mow your lawn for a longer time without breaks. However, the motor here is not the best quality possible, so it's best not to give the tool a hard time if you want it to faithfully serve you for years to come.

Lawn-Boy 17732
Tri-Cut™ Cutting System
Lawn-Boy 17732 is as much a boy as it is a man. Sure, the name doesn't make the mower sound particularly impressive. But this is a serious machine through and through.
Now, we're not saying that it is necessarily the most convenient option on the market today. The gas-powered Kohler XTX OHV engine means business. Its 149cc displacement is no laughing matter. However, the engine's where the problem lies.
We're not talking about its environmental impact here. This is a practicality discussion first and foremost. With an engine like that, you can't just recharge the battery and be good to go. Among other things, you have to change the engine oil and it can be relatively difficult to change.
Having said that, it's not like the model isn't practical at all. In many ways, it is more practical than your average lawn mower. To start with, let's talk about the Tri-cut™ cutting system. The system begins with the rake guard positioning the grass upright for the blade.
After that, the S-blade is able to deliver an even cut, all while creating lift for better circulation. Plus, a blade like that extends to the deck's side in order to create a wider cut.
Finally, a cutting system like that isn't complete without a symmetrical deck creating a strong vacuum that lets grass clippings freely circulate for better mulching and easier discharging.

A Huge Bag
As much as we like the Tri-cut™ cutting system, the rear wheel drive system is probably the system here. The way it is able to provide better traction and control on hilly terrain is really what makes the mower such an appealing product in the first place.
Another system here that makes the practicality case (albeit a slightly smaller one) is the model's 2-point height-of-cut functionality. It lets you easily adjust the deck height at 2 points, allowing for quick customization of your mowing height.
We cannot overlook the 2-bushel collecting bag. When you have to gather your clippings, a bag like that is able to hold much more than your average bag. It allows you to collect more clippings and empty the bag faster and less frequently.
Of course, as it is usually the case with lawn mowers these days, you can choose between mulching, bagging, or side discharging, so it isn't like you'll necessarily always have to go with the bagging option.
Cutting to the chase, Lawn-Boy 17732 has its flaws but the model is overall too practical, effective, and functional to make these flaws noticeable enough. With this mower, you'll be able to keep any lawn in a top-notch condition without too much effort on your part.

What Is a Lawn Mower?
Taking care of the yard and lawn is the task with high priority for any owner of a detached house. The problem is, it is not exactly easy and requires putting in quite a lot of time and effort. After seeding lawn grass, you need to water it, trim it regularly, suppress weed, and so on and so forth. Of course, you can do all these yourself and utilize a rake, scythe and other tools. Or you can get a lawn mower and save yourself a lot of headache. This simple yet irreplaceable for any house owner machine can cut a grass surface to the height you want and do this without any effort. If this is the type of appliance you need, our review of the best lawn mowers should come in handy. Here we review the most popular models along with their key specs as well as recommendations regarding their use. Hopefully, you'll find what you need.
And if you own a large lawn of an acre or more, we'd advise looking in the direction of riding lawn mowers or gas lawn mowers, designed especially for big areas.
What Features to Compare
Type
The first thing to pay attention to when choosing a lawn mower is its travel type. All lawn mowers are usually divided into two types: push and self-propelled lawn mowers. If you're an environmentally-conscious person, your option should a push lawn mower, one that doesn't generate any harmful exhausts and operates by moving it with hands. Self-propelled models are a different beast. These are classified by the type of an engine installed, and can be gas or electric. Electric models can be powered by gasoline and batteries, depending on the model you choose. As for gas lawn mowers, these are best suited for large lawns. Though they aren't particularly environment-friendly, they can drastically cut down the time necessary to cut a grass surface. Another distinctive feature of gas lawn mowers is maneuverability.
Performance
Another important aspect to consider when choosing a lawn mower is its performance, namely its key specs. By this we mean the size of the lawn it can process on a full charge/ refill, and its maximum cutting width and height. The cutting width is an important parameter, as the bigger it is, the larger area the lawn mower will be able to cover per one go, and consequently the fewer sweeps you'll need to make. The cutting height may vary from 0.5 to 4 inches and can be customized by adjusting the mower wheels.
