What customers say about "Key Specs"
Penn Battle II 8000 (1338222) Spinning Fishing Reel
  • It's beautiful in the outside, the interior parts are made with the latest technology and it comes with a special lubricant for extra protection of the components.
  • Great reel!!!! Very smooth action and casting.
  • These reels are made of high quality parts, precision and unmatched quality.
  • With the versatility to handle a variety of situations and the durability to last for years to come, the Penn Battle II is truly a necessary investment.
  • I like the addition of the rubber gasket on the spool that allows for braid to be added without the need for mono backing.
Penn Conflict 8000 (0009-1905) Spinning
  • Awesome reel, great line capacity can handle snook, redfish, sharks and everything inbetwee.
  • But it has a good drag and holds plenty of braided line, so I can hook into some pretty big fish and still have a chance of winning in the age-old man-vs-fish challenge.
  • Awesome reel I highly recommend it. I spooled my with 325yards of 40# braided line topped with another 50 yards of mono so it holds a ton of line.
  • Put 300 yards of 65# braid line on it and fish for grouper, kings, etc, but with lighter fluorocarbon leader can be used with lighter tackle too.
  • I paired with a (Black) Black Tip off-shore rod and blue braded line and Fluorocarbon Lead. Badass! Guaranteed to catch fish! Highly Recommend!

  • Smooth, powerful, and durable. Caught a 20lb bluefish beach fishing no problem.
  • Great spinning reel. I use it for surf fishing and it has performed flawlessly so far. The drag is super smooth and consistent.
  • Great for surf fishing. From reeling in monster bull reds, blackdrum to 4ft sharks. Overall great reels awesome drag.
Penn Conflict 8000 (0009-1905) Spinning
  • The drag is super smooth and strong with some nice seals throughout.
  • But it has a good drag and holds plenty of braided line, so I can hook into some pretty big fish and still have a chance of winning in the age-old man-vs-fish challenge.
  • Drag is pretty nice, although not the classic Penn drag sound, but reel is smooth and steady. I'm likely gonna buy another one.
  • Smooth drag and very strong. Light for its size.
  • The drag is so nice and smooth and loud!!! Loudest drag I've ever heard on a spinner. Which for me is a good thing!!

What customers say about "Features"
Penn Battle II 8000 (1338222) Spinning Fishing Reel
  • The gearing on this reel is amazing for fast retrieval. At any rate, yes, this reel is awesome.
  • Yes, you will catch fish with it, and yes, you can cast far and smooth and retrieve fast.
  • Handle is large and the rubber knob gives it a great feel. The handle is also left or right handed which is a plus.
  • The penn battle 2 has the sleek design and comfortable grip that we as fisherman expect from such a fine company.
  • The non-corrosive design and line capacity were big selling points, and the overall specs on this reel were too great to pass up.
Penn Conflict 8000 (0009-1905) Spinning
  • We KNOW it will handle Redfish and Trout up to about 7 lbs, and an 18" pompano. We paired it with a St Croix Tidemaster Med Light 7' 6" fast action spinning rod.
  • I have several of these reels and they handle saltwater incredibly. Hold up much better than more expensive shimano and diawa reels and are just as smooth.
  • Had no problem handling 3-4# Spanish. Can't wait for fall fishing targeting puppy drum in the surf.
  • I still don't like the handle itself, but for simple surf-fishing, it's not a deal-killer. I still wish I'd gone a different direction with a different reel, but this'll do until it wears out.
  • The handle is unusually long and has a weird bend in it. I'm not ready to take a stand against the handle, but it has an odd feel when you're reeling in line.
