PROS

Your shots instantly burst bright fluorescent yellow upon impact. These high-visibility splatters can be spotted from a solid distance. They're visible even in low-light conditions, making the target excellent for individuals with vision problems. It includes 2 extra upper circles that you can use for "T-zone" training.

CONS

The paper starts to curl up after some time.

OUR VERDICT

Silhouette Splatter Target is the best shooting target here for shooting competitions. There is enough here for experienced gun enthusiasts to go crazy about. That said, the model is just as great for beginners who are yet to discover the fun of shooting.

PROS

You don't have to check the target in order to figure out whether you've hit or missed. Every time you actually hit it, AR500 moves and produces the most satisfying sound. Made of heavy-duty steel, this thing is so tough that even the toughest bullets vaporize or crush to bits on impact.

CONS

Steel is susceptible to corrosion.

OUR VERDICT

With AR500, you'll be able to put an end to buying and patching these boring subpar paper targets. With different thickness available, there is virtually no weapon it won't be able to accommodate. Though it isn't as practical, the target is way more fun than its paper counterparts.

OUR VERDICT

This Big Dawg Targets product gives you solid quality with excellent quantity. It will take you ages to run out of targets. They are suitable for all calibers. The adhesive nature of these shooting targets allows you to stick them to virtually any surface at any temperature.

PROS

Since the targets give you a noise confirmation, you don't have to stand up and confirm your hit and, instead, able to keep on shooting. Having that instant target feedback doesn't just make the whole experience more exciting and interactive but a lot more productive as well. The resetting mechanism automatically brings the targets to the starting position.

CONS

Orange stickers wear off relatively quickly or just fall off altogether.

OUR VERDICT

This Caldwell shooting target with its 5 shooting spots is a particularly effective training tool. It doesn't cost a whole lot. The product is highly portable. It is just as great for mid-range shooting as the next model and a lot better for long-range shooting than most of them.

Splatterburst Targets 12 x18 inch

Light It Up

This Silhouette Splatter Target from Splatterburst Targets is what happens when gun enthusiasts make products for gun enthusiasts. You'd think there isn't a whole lot of room for improvement when it comes to these paper targets but the model sure proves this idea wrong.

The biggest strength of this target is that your shots instantly burst bright fluorescent yellow upon impact. These high-visibility splatters can be spotted from a solid distance, so you're able to spend more time shooting and less time walking downrange to check the results.

On top of that, these bright yellow bullet holes are visible even in low-light conditions, making the target excellent for individuals with vision problems.

Again, you'd think that paper is paper, there is hardly any wiggle room there. But there is. The heavy-duty non-adhesive tagboard of this target easily withstands shot after shot, so you won't have to change the target until you fill all of the shooting space. That said, we wouldn't recommend leaving it hanging there for a long time as the paper does have a tendency to curl up.

The last piece of business here are these 2 extra upper circles that you can use for "T-zone" training. Not a huge change but it does make the already excellent product even more versatile.

Bottom line, Silhouette Splatter Target is the best shooting target here for shooting competitions. There is enough here for experienced gun enthusiasts to go crazy about. That being said, the model is just as great for beginners who are yet to discover the fun of shooting.

ShootingTargets7 AR500

It's More Fun this Way

Think shooting a regular paper target is fun? Try this metal one instead. Sure, it has its flaws. For one, its steel composition makes the product susceptible to corrosion. It isn't as portable as its paper counterparts. But all of its flaws pale in comparison to the upsides. Oddly enough, all of the upsides add up to make the same argument - this thing is just more fun.

You don't have to check the target in order to figure out whether you've hit or missed. Every time you actually hit this gong-esque object, it moves and produces the most satisfying sound. This way, the guesswork is removed from the equation.

Aside from making the target a lot more convenient and practical, as we've said earlier, its metal construction makes the model much more fun to play with. It allows you to feel the weight of each shot and that's not a feeling you can replicate with a paper target.

You'd think a target like that wouldn't have a particularly long service life. But that isn't the case at all. Made of heavy-duty steel, this thing is so tough that even the toughest bullets vaporize or crush to bits on impact. With proper use, it should be able to last you a lifetime.

Long story short, with AR500, you'll be able to put an end to buying and patching these boring subpar paper targets. From .22 pistols to 9mm pistols to all sorts of rifles, there is virtually no weapon it won't be able to accommodate. Though it isn't as practical, the target is way more fun than its paper counterparts.

Caldwell 707055

A Portable Shooting Range

Caldwell 707055 doesn't give you a shooting target. But we wouldn't describe it as the product's weakness. You can buy those anywhere, they hardly cost a damn thing. Instead, it offers just about everything short of that piece of paper you need for an enjoyable shooting session.

First and foremost, this thing requires minimal time to install. As you spend less time setting it up, you're able to spend more time shooting. Equipped with steel pins, it easily inserts into the ground. Featuring an oversized backer, this thing is able to hold multiple large targets, making it great for shooting competitions, among other things.

Furthermore, the construction includes a removable ground stabilizer. It adds support from wind during use and nicely stows into the feet when you don't need it.

Now, though the stabilizer and the backer do provide extra front to back stability from the wind, this thing is still not entirely immune to it. On the flip side, the backer is weather-resistant, so it doesn't allow moisture and rust to affect it.

Finally, arguably the most discerning characteristic of this model is just how portable and overall convenient it is. The large modular frame collapses into a smaller frame, making it easy to transport and store the whole thing. Plus, the stand comes equipped with an integrated storage container. You can use it to hold various range supplies like staples or target pasters.

All things considered, Caldwell 707055 is the most complete product in this review. With it, you'll be able to turn any piece of land into an actual shooting range. It is easy to carry, easy to store, and easy to install.

Big Dawg Targets Adhesive Target

Time to Hit the Bull's-Eye

For the most part, this Big Dawg Targets product is as simple as shooting targets get. But we wouldn't want you to confuse simple with basic because the model is anything but basic. Sure, on the surface level, what you get is a simple piece of paper. But there's a lot more to it than meets the eye.

First things first, the target itself is blue. But your shots burst bright orange upon impact. The contrast of these two colors makes your hits highly visible.

Now, with that blue tone, it is a slightly different story. On one hand, it gives you awesome contrast for all sight types: crosshairs, iron sights, and red dots. On the other, blue is the kind of color that becomes poorly visible in drizzly or slightly foggy conditions. That's a bit of a shame though not really a dealbreaker.

That's especially the case if you consider the quantity that comes along with the quality of these shooting targets. For a modest price, you get 25 of these sheets. On top of that, each target includes 16 cover-ups and 2 replacement bulls, so you'll be able to patch up one of these targets multiple times. Considering that and the number of sheets, it will take you ages to run out of them.

To sum it all up, this Big Dawg Targets product gives you solid quality with excellent quantity. It is suitable for all calibers. The adhesive nature of these shooting targets lets you stick them to virtually any surface at any temperature.

Caldwell Rimfire Resetting Target

Any-Range Shooting

Though it serves a similar purpose, this model from Caldwell is a very different beast compared to every other product in this review.

Called a resetting target, this thing is able to create a much more different and interactive shooting experience.

Since they give you a noise confirmation, you don't have to stand up and confirm your hit and, instead, able to keep on shooting. Having that instant target feedback doesn't just make the whole experience more exciting but a lot more productive as well.

The best part about it is the resetting mechanism. As the targets automatically come back to the starting position, you aren't forced to adjust them yourself, so you don't waste your time on that roundtrip from your spot to the target

There is an orange sticker on each target, a great choice of color as orange is highly visible even at night. The only problem is that these stickers wear off relatively quickly or, from time to time, just fall off altogether. But you can always buy those separately.

What you won't have to buy separately, however, is a new stand. Made of heavy-duty steel, this thing is as robust and rugged as they come, able to withstand an occasional stray bullet with ease.

Taking all of the above into account, this Caldwell shooting target with its 5 shooting spots is a much more effective training tool. It doesn't cost a whole lot. The product is highly portable. It is just as great for mid-range shooting as the next option and a lot better for long-range shooting than most of them.

What Is a Shooting Target?

A shooting target is a slightly ambiguous term. In a nutshell, any object of any shape or form can be used for shooting practice. But, more often than not, the term refers to a piece of paper and/or a stand that is most suitable for target practice. If it is a piece of paper or any other object like that, it'll likely come with some kind of image that will help you distinguish and identify your marks. In this review, we've gathered a variety of different targets.

Some are great for shooting outdoors. Some are more suitable for indoor settings, some for short range and other for long range. Aside from general target practice, these objects can be used for shooting competitions, concealed carry, and self-defense training.

Of course, there's also the question of weapon compatibility. Most targets work fine with any pistol but certain models are specifically designed for air rifles, airsoft guns, different pistols, or anything in-between. Just figure out what you're going to be using it for and then you should be able to pick the right target.

Reckon an immobile target is too easy a challenge for you? Alright, you can try one of these skeet throwers instead. Don't care for guns at all? Well, we're not here to change your mind. But you can start small, with something like a Nerf gun, for example.
