What customers say about "Key Specs"
Garmin Dash Cam 55 Extremely Small GPS-Enabled Dash Camera
  • Multiple resolutions available. 1440p, 1080p/60, 1080p/30/HDR.
  • The Garmin dashcams are tiny, solidly built rectangles with a 2-inch LCD screen on the rear, four buttons on the right, and a lens that protrudes from the front.
  • Because the 55 has an LCD screen, you can play back recordings right on the unit. The middle two buttons are up-down for selecting options, the bottom button confirms the selection and the top goes back.
  • Screen size compared to dash camera. It's actually usable. Not a touch but I wouldn't want it to be a touch anyway.
  • Resolution. I am disappointed with the resolution. I set it to the highest one, 1440x30 FPS, but in order to read a license plate or car manufacturer/model you need to be pretty close to the car.
Garmin Dash Cam 65 Extremely Small GPS-enabled Dash Camera
  • The device is very user friendly; so user friendly that you don't even need to open the manual for it. I've attached photos as I navigated through the menu options.
  • The video quality is superb...... 1080P and I don't even care that the Garmin 55 dash cam is capable of 1440P. I will gladly take the 180° view point. With the device in the center of my wind shield I can see both side pillars.
  • The Garmin dashcams are tiny, solidly built rectangles with a 2-inch LCD screen on the rear, four buttons on the right, and a lens that protrudes from the front. (An advantage of the protrusion is that the lens is closer to the windshield, which reduces reflections from the dash.)
  • Excellent resolution. Easy to use. Small form factor. Forward collision and lane departure functions work but annoying and can be turned off.
  • The video quality and ease of use are fantastic but after less than a month of use, the camera will no longer turn on.

What customers say about "Video"
Garmin Dash Cam 55 Extremely Small GPS-Enabled Dash Camera
  • Field of view. The camera covers a pretty large area.
  • This thing is amazing. The field of view is fantastic. Wider than normal but not as high. Who cares? I’m not filming the sky anyway. I love the parking record feature.
  • The video quality was very good. It was brighter and more crisp than my Street Guardian, which I liked very well. Some had commented that their video was "shaky" - perhaps due to the magnetic mount.
  • Night light glare. At night reading license plates is even worst, glare becomes a bigger problem.
  • Night quality is terrible. Parking mode only works for a couple hours, not through the night.
Garmin Dash Cam 65 Extremely Small GPS-enabled Dash Camera
  • The resolution upon playback is highly detailed and it sees well at night.
  • The camera is small, easy to instal, takes great video, and has a few nice features.
  • I especially like the voice control, and the quality of both the video and saved still images.
  • The video quality is outstanding and the field of view is more than adequate.
  • Video is saved as one clip. So if you're taking a long trip, you'll have one giant video to filter through if you need any of the footage. Can't change this.
  • Night light glare. At night reading license plates is even worst, glare becomes a bigger problem.

What customers say about "Features"
Garmin Dash Cam 55 Extremely Small GPS-Enabled Dash Camera
  • Voice control is convenient especially for saving videos, instead of fiddling around trying to find the button.
  • The WiFi share thing is actually really simple to use. Weirdly, despite the files being recorded in 1 minute intervals, if you share a video it shares several minutes at a time, which can take a while to transfer. That said, it's nice to have if you want it.
  • The voice commands work very well, even with the radio is on and there are other noises. I have my radio on all the time and only a few times it thought that I issued a voice command, but this cases are rare.
  • It records all the important data, such as date, time, GPS and car speed.
  • The mount is a mix of a magnet that sticks onto your windshield (where ever you want to mount it that will stick) and a pivoting head that inserts into the camera. The give isn't exactly enough to easily twist the camera so it can record who you're talking to from the driver's side window.
  • The status light indicator is red when the camera is recording but it's not bright enough in the day to really make a huge difference nor is it fully visible during the day even when you're looking at the screen side of the camera.
Garmin Dash Cam 65 Extremely Small GPS-enabled Dash Camera
  • I have not experienced any over heating issues that other reviewers of the 55 and 65 have stated having. I don't plan on leaving the device in my car so I won't be affected by it if it were an issue.
  • It has a couple time voice activated with out me saying anything but the voice control works great.
  • The time-lapse video feature is pretty cool. And audio recording feature has returned after an absence on the Garmin 35.
  • The features that sets this Garmin apart from the "imported" cams are unique. It uses voice commands - after saying "Okay Garmin" it allows the user to take a picture, save a video, etc.
  • Bought this a few months back thinking the time-lapse feature would be awesome. It's okay, but I rarely use it cause of the hassle.
  • The voice recognition is horrible. It picks up random noises from my audio book or music and thinks I'm asking it to save the current video.
