Remington НF9000

Embodies the Best Features

The Remington company has been on the market for more than 80 years and decided to create a razor that embodies all those years of shaving innovations. And what we have now is the Remington HF9000 from Heritage series. Inspired by tradition, it has a cute handheld design that definitely evokes shavers of the distant past. That is to say, the overall appearance is very nostalgic. In fact, it's a throwback to 1950's predecessors.

Yet, now it's engineered with much better materials and cutting performance. Namely, it boasts a premium die-cast metal finish that makes it solid and elegant. With that, it's well balanced and feels great in hands.

Ergonomics aside, the main concern is definitely "how well does it shave". And we're happy to report that the buzzer provides almost as close a shave as a blade. And, more importantly, it neither leaves razor burns nor pulls hairs. It’s nearly impossible to cut yourself with this shaver.

The HF9000 has the old school "on/off" switch and comes with just two modes - on and off. The switch is nice and tight enough so as not to toggle during use. When on, this shaver is quite noisy but not annoying.

For your comfort, this shaver is designed for both dry shaving and wet shaving with gel or foam. Therefore, you'll be able to choose a preferable shaving experience. Naturally, the shaver isn't afraid of water and easily washes clean under the tap.

Review of Remington НF9000 Heritage Series

Modern Technology

Although this razor is styled after 1950's models, it's very modern and usable. Made with Lift Logic Foils, it shaves off even the shortest hairs at a wide variety of angles. The foils are multi-directional and can conform to every facial contour. And the patented hybrid intercept technology pre-trims hairs for ultra-close results. No hair will be missed.

Lastly, we would like to say a few words about the runtime of this device. The HF9100 has a Li-ion battery that provides up to 60 minutes of continuous shaving after a full charge.

The shaver charges up relatively quickly (2 hours) and, more importantly, it can be used when plugged into a wall outlet. Not many electric razors have that ability.

In addition to a razor, wall charger, USB cord, and a cleaning brush, the box includes a suede-like pouch and a plastic cover for the shaving foils.

Long story short, if you'd like to get a premium shaver from Remington, the HF9100 can be an optimal choice. It looks unique, combines all the innovations, and gives a very close shave.

Remington Vintage

Retro Shaver

The Remington Vintage Dual Close-shaver is another retro shaver from the brand that is even more compact and antique than those from Heritage series. Its design is based on the 1937-model Rand Close Shaver, one of the best-selling Remington's original shaver models.

However, everything about this shaver apart from the vintage styling is modern. The razor comes in a cute presentation box with a premium faux-leather case and a USB cord. Take note that although it's a very attractive model, it doesn't come with a stand to be put on display. Not a dealbreaker but a small detail worth improvement.

The build quality of this unit is excellent. It feels sturdy and has a small form factor, making it easy to hold. With that, it boasts a solid heft and is comfortable to maneuver.

Another benefit is that it charges using micro-USB. So if your phone or any other gadget uses that as well, you can bring only one cable with you when traveling. Also, you can charge the razor right in your car while driving. A handy feature for busy individuals that are always on-the-go.

On average, the razor holds a charge for about 40-45 minutes. And it flashes a green LED once it's running low on power. What is nice, the shaver comes partially charged right out-of-the-box, so you'll be able to immediately try it.

Review of Remington Vintage Dual Close-shaver

Good Cutting Performance

Throughout all 80 years of existence, Remington shavers have offered a very close shave, and this model is no exception. The performance of this one is fairly typical of other electric shavers from the brand. It works well when used either dry or wet.

It's worth emphasizing that there is no built-in trimmer, which gives some limitations if you haven't shaved in a while. But if you stick to a regular shaving regime, the absence of a trimmer won't be a problem for you.

Understanding that facial hair grows at different angles, the manufacturer has designed this razor with the Dual Lift Logic Flexing Foils that boast a multi-directional pattern and shave off even the shortest hairs.

As soon as you finish, you can clean the shaver by simply pulling the top off (it has no tricky buttons or clips for that). We recommend you to tap it on the sink first and then use cleaning brushes from the set.

All things considered, the Remington Vintage Dual Close-shaver seems to be an ideal offering for a clean-shaven guy who admires anything that's "old". It gets the highest scores from us for its vintage appearance, compact size, and cutting performance.

Remington F5-5800

Excellent for Beginners

The F5-5800 is one of the most popular electric shavers on the market right now for a good reason. It has many promising features and provides the fantastic value for money at less than $40. Right after unpacking, you'll know that you've received a high-quality product. The razor machine has a robust black handle with a stylish silver trim and easy-to-use buttons. Even people new to electric shavers will easily figure out how it works.

The buzzer boasts many advanced features that make shaving faster and more comfortable. To begin with, it uses the Pivot & Flex Foil technology which allows the head to adjust precisely to your very contours and maintain a close contact with your skin during the whole grooming procedure, even when you go around your chin, jawline, and neck. Therefore, you may be sure that you won't suffer from irritation and bumps caused by excessive friction and snagging. Yet, the major selling point of this shaver is the Intercept Shaving Technology. The unit has two foils instead of one that work independently from each other. And as your facial hair passes in between these foils, the unit first trims it and then shaves. All this makes the shaving process much more efficient and faster. So, even if you have 3 days' growth, the shaver will be able to remove all of the hair with fewer passes.

This model also has a pop-up detail trimmer that can help you sculpt and shape your beard, mustache, or sideburns. The trimmer is neatly hidden on the side of the handle. So, you won’t have to waste your time on changing heads to groom different parts of your face.

Review of Remington F5-5800 Foil Shaver

Easy To Maintain

Another highlight of this razor is its dual power source feature. To put it simply, you can use it corded or cordlessly for your preference. If used unplugged, it runs for a total of 60 minutes after a full charge, which equals approximately three weeks of operation. And you can always be aware of the charge level owing to the LED battery gauge.

After use, this battery-operated razor is very easy to clean. Although the razor is suitable for dry shaving only, its blades are made from surgical-grade steel, meaning they aren't subjected to rust. So, you can safely run the shaver head under a tap. The hairs come out quickly with no additional cleaning required.

All in all, if you need an effective and easy to use foil shaver, the Remington F5-5800 is a sensible option. It provides a close shave using as few strokes as possible. So, this razor is especially good for new users.

Remington XR1470 HyperFlex

The Cleanest Results Guaranteed

Unrivaled closeness, superb comfort, and amazing power! These are the words that best describe the Remington XR1470 electric shaver. This razors from the new Hyper Series combines advanced technologies and the highest quality to deliver your best shaving experience possible.

First things first, the HyperFlex razors has an innovative design allowing you to shave at any angle for precise closeness and ultra-smooth finish. The unit is fitted with three fully-floating rotary heads that adjust to all contours of your face. They flex and tilt independently as you go and don't leave areas with unshaved stubble. Thanks to their ActiveContour design, they always stay in close contact with the skin even on the neck and chin areas. The HyperFlex heads are supposedly good for as long as 12-18 months of regular use.

Slots and holes in the heads enable you to shave both long hairs and short stubble effectively. Yet, if you need to go through extremely thick hair, you can activate Turbo Mode that increases the motor speed a bit and guarantees the smoothest results for your face.

Another thing that really sold us on this shaver is the convenience of the trimmer. The unit has a built-in flip-out trimmer that makes the grooming of sideburns and other facial hair a quick and effortless job.

Review of Remington XR1470 HyperFlex Wet&Dry Electric Shaver

Ultra Flexible

The thing you'll particularly like about this electric razor is the WETech technology and what it offers. It makes the shaver 100% waterproof and 100% versatile, giving you the freedom to shave in your shower using different foams and gels. The special handle design makes it easy to use the shaver in the shower - it's not too slippery when wet. After shaving, you can quickly rinse the unit under running water and leave it right in the shower. You don't have to worry about harmful bacteria since the shaver has the anti-microbial additive that inhibits bacterial growth.

If you choose dry shaving, you can simply put the shaver on the nice charge stand afterwards. Plus, the stand not only keeps the unit upright but also protects it during travel and storage. And if you worry that the battery might die during transit, you can activate a travel lock which will prevent the shaver from turning on in your suitcase. One more nice feature for travelers is dual voltage support. The razors can work overseas granted that you have an adapter.

In a word, we would highly recommend the Remington XR1470 HyperFlex razors for professional barbers and those who need an ultra-flexible device for the cleanest shave possible. It always leaves a nice smooth shave with no razors burn, no matter your type of skin. It flexes to accommodate even not-so-supple skin for a nice close shave, which makes it excellent for any elderly man.

Remington PR1340

Double Track

The R4000 Series electric rotary shaver is another affordable model from the Remington range. This model is pretty basic yet it still has all the notable features Remington razors are praised for. Three PrecisionPlus rotary heads can easily shave both long scruff and short stubble, while their Active Contour design with extended pivot and linked cutters can help them stay in close contact with your skin on such tricky areas as the jawline, neck, and chin. And thanks to the PowerFlex 360° advanced technology, the shaver heads are able to adjust to the various angles and curves of your face without pulling out the hair follicles. But the best part about the shaver is that it has Twin Track blades on each rotary head. They ensure maximum skin contact in one-pass. The blades spin nicely and quickly, which lets the shaver go faster with less irritation.

As for extras, this portable shaver is fitted with a standard pop-up trimmer allowing you to safely trim around the tight corners of your face. Other than that, it has no frills. The package includes just a power cord that can give the shaver a full 4-hour charge. Depending on how long you usually shave in the morning, the charge will last for up to two weeks. A handy LED indicator will show you the remaining charge and "Low battery" alert. Take note though, the unit can't be used corded.

Review of Remington PR1340 Fully Washable Rotary Shaver

Ultra Protection

The Remington R4000 electric razor can be used for wet shaving as well, so if you like to use some gels, lotions, or foams, this is a good shaver for you.  You'll be able to shave extremely closely with little or no damage to your skin, since your hair will become softer and manageable when covered with lather.

Also, wet shaving can offer superior exfoliation action. The razor allows the blades to remove dead skin cells, leaving a smooth, soft and fresh skin. In other words, this is the right tool to give your skin a youthful glow after a shave.

And if you're worried about bacteria buildup, you can have total peace of mind. The thing is that the blades of this razor are infused with a special anti-microbial additive that inhibits the growth of bacteria to always deliver you a clean and hygienic shave. This useful feature makes the shaver also very easy to clean - simply rinse it under tap water and shake out.

Summing up everything said above, the Remington R4000 razor is a very effective, hygienic, and budget-friendly option. It's great for those who want to get a decent shave but don't want to spend too much money on an electric razor.

What Is a Remington Electric Razor?

Remington is a famous personal care company which manufactures and distributes shavers, epilators, trimmers, and other haircare products for men and women all over the world. With over 80 years of successful experience, the brand creates tools that can help you elevate your personal style and find your signature look. Everything about their products screams high quality and innovation. So, if you are a technology nut always looking for the newest and most advanced products, you're in the right place. Our selection of the best Remington electric razors includes the most sophisticated models for various needs and budget. Here, you'll find both rotary and foil shavers that are outfitted with the latest technologies and have ultra-sharp blades to guarantee the smoothest results possible. And if you're serious about your total grooming routine, you may also be interested in getting an eyebrow trimmer, ear/nose trimmer, or professional beard trimmer.

What Features to Compare

Type

Knowing your facial hair peculiarities is essential for understanding what type of Remington electric razors will work best for you. The good news is, with Remington, you have a choice since the company offers you two types of shavers to choose from.

  • Foil electric shavers. Compared to rotary shavers, they work much gentler on the skin, which makes them a suitable option for those with sensitive skin. Also, they provide a very close shave. The shaver head pulls the skin taut so that the hair - both short and long - can enter the holes, making it particularly great for men who have fine hair or have a habit (or even need) to shave every day. Finally, they usually work faster than rotary models, imposing no need on you to pass over the same area several times.
  • Rotary shavers have their own advantages too. One of the most important ones is that it works with thick hair. This makes it a sound choice for men with coarse and wild hair, which is hard to remove with a foil shaver. Rotary shavers work beautifully on long hair too, so if you often spend several days not shaving, this one will do the trick. Also, rotary shavers work much quieter than foil shavers. If your bathroom is located close to the nursery or your bedroom, this can be important to you too.

Wet/Dry Shave

Another important thing you should decide on is whether you want your shaver to be suitable only for dry shaving or dry and wet. Some men prefer the convenience and speed of dry electric shavers, but if you have sensitive skin, we would recommend opting for dry/wet models so you can use them together with foams and shaving gels to soften the skin and minimize irritations. Also, some shavers can be used in the shower. Keep note, though, that submerging the device completely is not allowed.

Charging

Just like all other brands, shavers by Remington can be mains-powered, rechargeable, and battery-operated. Which one will suit you better will come down to your personal preference, obviously, and your lifestyle. Rechargeable models are the best option for people who usually spend a lot of time on the go. They offer flexibility and convenience, giving you a chance to have a shave anywhere and anytime when there will be a need. In regard to Remington electric shavers, these come fitted with long-lasting Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries and can provide up to 60 minutes of run time after one full charge. Some models will also have a quick-charge feature allowing you to have a quick shave after short charging. To let you know when the device is low on charge, most models have an LED battery indicator.

Extras

Finally, we recommend checking out the package and additional perks included. These can be trimmers, brushes, combs, adapters as well as travel pouches. Buying an electric razor is a long-term investment which is why it makes sense to go for the best one offering you everything you'll need for comfortable use.

Did you know?

The First Electric Razor

Although shaving using a Gillette safety {keyword:razorwith replaceable blades gained popularity in the early 1900s, electric models were deemed an advancement when they appeared in the 1930s. It was Colonel Jacob Schick, an American manufacturer, who obtained the patent for the first electric razor in 1930. He created an electric razor with a shaving head powered by a grapefruit-sized external motor. The Remington Rand Corporation has developed their own, more advanced electric shaver in 1937. However, both early versions of electric shavers were designed to be used on dry skin only.

Battery-powered {keyword:razorfirst appeared in the mid-1960s. They used nickel-cadmium batteries sealed inside the case.

No Electrocution!

Even if you shave in a shower, you don’t need to worry about electrocution. Remington electric {keyword:razorsare ultimately safe as long as they are used without a power cord. Special care is only required when the item is charging (connected to an electric power outlet).

Men’s Game

While women spend money mostly on toiletries and beauty products rather than costly razors, men shell out hefty sums of money on grooming tools including razors. During the last year, the men's grooming industry valued more than $6 billion. The shaving lotions and gels generated retail sales of approximately $790 million. And it’s predicted that interest in male shaving products will continue to rise.

Younger People Buy Shaving Products Less

It’s estimated that 90% of adult males shave once a day. But the number of young men (from 18 to 24) who don’t use any shaving products at all varies from 13% to 15%. However, once men hit their mid-20s, get married, and get settled into their career, they usually begin shaving and grooming on a regular basis. By the way, not all women find smooth cheeks attractive. Only 45% of ladies prefer the clean-shaven look, while 55% give their preference to bearded men.

High Time for a Beard!

The fun statistics show that most men decide to grow a beard during cold seasons. Probably, they believe that this kind of personal face-warmer can protect them in the wintertime. Still, it’s better to start growing a beard when it's hot outside. Unbelievable, but in summer, facial hair grows up to 60% faster compared to winter.

How Many?

On average, there are about 30,000 hair follicles on the face of a man. The greatest concentration is on the chin and upper lip area. Women also have a staggering number of hairs to struggle with. An average woman has approximately 17,000 hair follicles on her legs, 600 under her arms and 78,000 hair follicles between her legs and armpits. That’s why your wife or girlfriend spends so much time in the shower.
