GreenWorks GBL80300

Corded Power in a Cordless Format

When it comes to any power garden tools, cordless models are indisputable top-liners in terms of convenience and ease of use. Limited neither by cords nor heavy-duty engines, they provide more freedom of movement, better maneuverability, and more comfort when you work. That's exactly what you'll get with a battery-powered leaf blower from GreenWorks.

Coming in a cordless handheld design, this model will impress you with its blowing power and performance. The DigiPro electric motor activated by a branded 80-volt battery generates an immense airflow of 500 CFM at 125 MPH, allowing you to blow through wet and dry leaves and grass clippings alike. Such motor performance is comparable to that of 32cc gas engines and corded models.

You can run the unit at one of three available speeds which can be changed with a control button. This allows you not only to precisely adjust it to the task at hand but also to maximize the battery runtime. This way, if you use it at low speed settings, the leaf blower will run for up to 70 minutes continuously, allowing you to clean the area of about 1 acre in size.

Though the GreenWorks GBL80300 is not the lightest model in its range, it is very convenient to handle. The unit body counterbalances a long blower tube causing minimum strain to your wrists and arms. An ergonomic handle ensures a comfortable and secure grip while a cruise control option improves load distribution for hassle-free maneuvering. The blower startup and speed selection are easily controlled at a single push of a button located on the top of the handle.

Distinguished by forceful performance and long runtime, the GreenWorks sweeper combines the power of corded and gas units with the convenience of a cordless design and will become an efficient garden helper for large households with vast adjacent areas.

DEWALT DCBL720P1

User Convenience Prioritized

Dewalt power tools stand out for reliable operation, high performance, and convenience of use perfectly balanced in a single unit. That's what makes Dewalt brand one of the most trusted among customers and Dewalt tools extremely popular among homeowners, DIY specialists, and professionals. The Dewalt rechargeable leaf blower is not an exception.

Once you try this model in action, you’ll be amazed by its well-thought design providing the ultimate convenience of use. At a glance, the tool seems bigger and heavier than other models in its class. Yet, do not let that bulkiness fool you. In practice, the Dewalt blower appears much lighter and you won’t feel that annoying wrist fatigue you’d normally expect from a heavyweight high-powered leaf blower. The unit body design with a battery compartment underneath evenly distributes the load and minimizes arm stress. An electric motor boasts low-noise (61dB) and low-vibration operation, making the model one of the quietest in the range and further reducing arm fatigue.

Yet, smooth operation and convenient handling are not the only strong sides of the Dewalt leaf blower. The unit design also works for truly efficient performance you’d expect from premium models. Thus, a large axial fan paired with a wide blower tube maximizes the air output and ensures intensive airflow. Meanwhile, a brushless Dewalt motor needs less maintenance, boasts a longer service life, and provides consistent blowing performance. It yields the speed up to 90 MPH, which is not the highest possible rate, yet high enough to ensure 400 CFM airflow to blow off leaves and clipped grass from the lawn and remove dust, paper wastes, plastic or wooden chips, construction debris, and other medium-size wastes from hard surfaces.

Suitable for small and mid-sized areas, the Dewalt leaf blower will find its place in the arsenal of any homeowner.

Review of DEWALT DCBL720P1 20V MAX 5.0 Ah Lithium Ion XR Brushless Blower

Consistent Operation for Consistently Efficient Cleaning Results

To be removed quickly and without a hassle, different types of debris require a different blowing speed. Thus, a variable speed control available in the Dewalt leaf blower is a handy option that will let you adjust the air blowing speed to tackle compacted leaves and to blow away those that have just fallen on the lawn. Yet, a common problem with trigger type speed controls is that you have to constantly push the trigger and it is hard to maintain consistent airflow speed. The Dewalt speed trigger doubles as a speed lock to prevent accidental speed settings adjustment during operation to ensure stable operation and achieve consistent cleaning results time and again.

Black & Decker LSW221

Great Choice for Minor Outdoor Cleanups

A leaf blower is a common garden tool for many households, especially those with a lot of trees in yards and gardens around them. Powerful leaf blowers make lawn cleaning tasks a snap. You won’t have to spend hours raking dry leaves from the lawn and flowerbeds. However, lawn cleaning is not the job you have to do on a daily basis. More often you simply need to clean sidewalks and driveways, decks, terraces, patios, and porches. This is where the Black and Decker LSW221 blower will come in. It’s rather a sweeper than a leaf blower. Compact, lightweight, yet powerful enough, it will save you the need to take out a full-scale high-powered leaf blower to simply remove dry soil and tiny dry twigs from the sidewalks in front of your house.

This model is a kind of a mini version of a full-sized leaf blower. It is definitely smaller and it weighs only 3.7 lbs, which is times less than many other cordless blowers. Such design makes the Black and Decker sweeper extremely easy to carry and handle. No wrist strain and arm fatigue at all. As for the rest, the unit looks like an ordinary leaf blower: it consists of a power unit that encases the motor, a blower tube, and a battery compartment.

Powered by a 20-volt lithium ion battery, the Black and Decker LSW221 is not the most powerful blower out there. Yet, the airspeed of up to 130 MPH is enough to blow small and light medium-size debris from hard surfaces made of stone, concrete, tile, or wood. Besides, thanks to its light construction and moderate-power motor, the unit does not vibrate during operation and produces significantly lower noise as compared to its more powerful counterparts.

The Black and Decker cordless sweeper is by far the best choice for minor outdoor cleaning tasks and will be a helpful complement to a heavy-duty gas or corded leaf blower. Use it instead of a broom to make your yard look clean and neat in almost no time.

Review of Black & Decker LSW221 20V MAX Lithium Cordless Blower

Ready to Work Whenever You Need

The merit of this model we can't leave unnoticed is its battery. Of course, the 20-volt capacity is not something that should be highlighted. And even its interchangeable design which is suitable for all 20V tools in the range is not that outstanding. What sets it apart, however, making it so unique is that it's able to hold the charge for up to 18 months, which is nothing short of impressive. Hence, if you've fully charged the battery yet don't use the blower for some time, it will be ready to work just when you need it.

Toro 51619

Type

This Toro leaf blower falls into the category of electric leaf blowers, and it is handheld. This means it is a corded device, and you will need a constant connection to the power supply. The native cord is only enough to deal with the backyard. To work further from the house it will be necessary to purchase an extension cord of sufficient length (if you don't already have one). Also, it is not recommended for cleaning in high humidity. Still, this is the best electric leaf blower in our opinion.

Review of Toro 51619 Ultra Leaf Blower & Vacuum

Performance

Toro 51619 Ultra has a very powerful engine that is able to blow out air at the speed of 250 MPH and volume of 410 CFM. These are the highest air speed numbers on our shortlist, be careful so that you don't get blown away. With this speed of air flow, you will have the opportunity to clear flat surfaces with little greenery on them. And not only of small leaves but also of debris, sticks, and large, heavy leaves. The only thing that may limit your work is the length of the cord and the number of extension cords.

Toro 51619 Ultra Leaf Blower & Vacuum in the use

Features and Convenience

Toro 51619 Ultra electric air blower, in contrast to other yard blowers in our review, in addition to traditional blowing options, has features of a leaf blower vacuum and a leaf shredder. You can reduce up to 88% of mulched leaves to less than 1 or 2-inch pieces. Another thing we feel we must point out is that despite its variety of features this Toro blower vac sits comfortably in one hand. Even if you work for some time, your hand will not get tired.

Toro UltraPlus Electric Leaf Blower Vac (51621): Product Review

What customers say about this product

Features

The variable speed feature is nice, it's easy to change from vac to blow, the metal impeller is bulletproof, the plastics hold up, and it's reasonably quiet.

Key Specs

The variable speed means anyone can use this with no problems.

Power

He's not too crazy about dragging a cord around, but is actually more powerful and easier for him to handle due to his arthritis.

Size & Weight

I think the weight is just fine. I'm an older guy and not in great shape; but I can use the blower for quite a while without having to rest. I think in part because the blower is balanced well.

Comparison of Leaf Blowers

What Is a Leaf Blower?

Leaf blowers hold a special place among other gardening tools in any household. If you have a leaf blower, you don't need a rake, a broom, or any other tool for cleaning your yard. The leaf blower is a versatile and powerful tool, with the help of which you'll be able to remove not only dry leaves and small twigs but also big branches, snow, mud, and even construction debris, if you have some. The biggest advantage of a leaf blower is that it can clean even quite big areas in little to no time, requiring a minimum of effort. Read for our five best leaf blowers reviews and choose one that will suit you most.

There are many other things that can help you enhance the look of your yard. One of them is a fire pit. If you've got none yet, make sure to read this selection of five fire pits. Also, you may want to look at purchasing a garden lamp that will make your patio zone much brighter.

Best Leaf Blowers

What Features to Compare

Before you go and decide what leaf blower to buy, first consider the area that you will be cleaning with it. This is the main distinctive feature of any lawn blower model. So when you know how big the area is, you look at the Type of the leaf blower. Electric models are, of course, easier to use, as you do not need to think about fuel, engine ignition, and maintenance. There are two sub-groups here: corded and battery-powered. First ones are more powerful, but you will need an extension cord for them. The latter ones are not bound to the outlet, but instead, may lack power and have limited working time before they need recharging. Gasoline-based lawn blowers are a perfect solution for people who own large properties, as they are completely autonomous and highly efficient. However, you can not use a gasoline leaf blower inside your house because the combustion engine throws into atmosphere some (although very little) exhaust gasses that are detrimental to health. One more thing that you should think about in the type-related issues is a design. There are three types of leaf blowers: handheld, backpack and walk behind. The design is determined by the engine power, which also determines capacity and its type.

  • Backpack lawn blowers are always petrol leaf blowers. The reason for this is that gas leaf blowers are always heavy, so the manufacturers produce them looking like backpacks, to reduce the load and distribute it the right way.
  • Walk behind yard blowers are good for cleaning large flat areas, for example, a lawn, but they are not intended to pick up debris in bushes, or for any other 'pinpoint' actions, even if they do have an additional chute.
  • Handheld leaf blowers are the most popular ones. Here you will find both electric and gas leaf blowers. Some manufacturers equip their handheld leaf blowers with a shoulder strap, to shift some weight from the user's hands to their body.

To evaluate the yard blower's efficiency, look at its Performance. This parameter is affected by the power and the airflow capacity. The air speed is measured in miles per hour (MPH). It is the most important parameter if you need to evaluate a leaf blower's usefulness for you, as the pressure over objects increases in quadratic dependency from the speed. The higher the speed is, the bigger objects the lawn blower will move. And the second part of this parameter is an air volume, measured is CFM (cubic feet per minute). The air volume defines the width of the air flow. More volume asks for less movement during cleaning. Although in an enclosed space it may be difficult to handle high air volumes.

The last but not least important thing to take into consideration when you choose a leaf blower is its Features and Convenience. While choosing such helpful equipment, pay attention to its weight, overall ergonomics and balance, to how the manufacturer managed its design, what the vibration levels are, etc. Some yard blowers can offer you additional features, such as vacuum cleaners. Convenience is also strongly affected by its scope of supply: what nozzles you will get in your package, and what job they are best to perform.
