What customers say about "Key Specs"
Garmin nüvi 3590LMT Portable Bluetooth GPS Navigator
  • Has good resolution - meaning it shows accurately where I am and does not jump me over to a parallel road.
  • Crystal clear display. Fast display updating. Voice commands. Next Turn/Junction images. Exit Services. 3D Map display. Traffic. Detours. Easy access to numerous menu functions.
  • Fast processor!! Map views re-draw instantly when you pan around, menus change without lag when you go from one page to the next.
  • It looks almost like a mini tablet which makes it easier to look at the next turns and intersections.
  • Screen is too shiny; glare is often a problem, but can be remedied by 1) adjusting the unit's position, or 2) putting on an anti-glare screen protector.
  • Powers on INSTANTLY when you put into the powered dashboard mount. This has a capacitive display, and often I would accidentally select buttons on the screen with the palm of my hand as I'm trying to clip it in. A 2-3 second delay would solve this.
  • Glossy screen is a fingerprint magent AND glare prone BUT easy to clean.
Garmin nüvi 3597LMTHD Portable Bluetooth Vehicle GPS
  • The 5-inch display is very crisp and clear, but can be reflective depending on how you position it in your car. Love the big screen!
  • Fast! Instantly on when powered up and bluetooth connection established in about 5 seconds.
  • With a higher resolution screen, side street names are easy to read and are very crisp.
  • Interface works very well, Garmin did a great job. It looks different from other Garmin nuvi's, but still operates about the same.
  • Loved new animations for the intersections when device leads you to proper lane.
  • I would really like to see more of the 3D buildings. You rarely see them unless you are in a very popular downtown area. Also, most of the time the GPS automatically zooms to the point where they aren't drawn (even on the most detail setting).
  • Zoom levels mess up the experience when at neighborhood zoom level. When I'm on a major road, the zoom level is usually pretty well, far enough out to where I can know what's coming ahead, but not too far to where you can't see side streets. The zoom level on minor roads, is sometimes good.

What customers say about "Features"
Garmin nüvi 3590LMT Portable Bluetooth GPS Navigator
  • Micro SD slot for adding extra maps or other content.
  • Voice Command works ok in non-noisy environments (windows up, radio off) and when asking for common destinations (e.g.: "gas station," not "Moby Dick's House of Kabob.")
  • Very good voice control and recognizing spoken addresses.
  • The voice Command is pretty handy and works on most cases. If you end up with a scroll bar on any search page; the "UP" voice command may not always work. You may have to use the "BACK" or the "EXIT" command instead.
  • Database is missing a lot of places - mostly businesses. Sometimes I have to manually input the address.
  • The database of places (restaurants, etc.) is surprisingly limited. It does not recognize restaurants that have been open for years.
Garmin nüvi 3597LMTHD Portable Bluetooth Vehicle GPS
  • More street names are shown on the map than previous models, roads not on your route are more frequently labled at all zoom levels.
  • HD traffic (included) works well for me in San Diego; however see below for comment around traffic with Smartphone App.
  • Advanced lane guidance. While not included for all junctions, it's useful to know exactly which lane you should be in as you approach tricky junctions/intersections.
  • Volume with speaker mount is very good. With windows down I only have to boost the volume to 60 or 65 to hear directions.
  • Free lifetime map updates available anytime and no longer restricted to 4 per year.
  • No user updatable speed limits - a feature removed from previous models. While I understand they're only included as a guide, it would be nice to change them if they are incorrect.
  • No choice of voice for navigation commands. Everyone's hearing is different and a choice would be nice to optimize clarity.
  • Inability to display latitude and longitude. In an emergency situation this could mean the difference between life and death.
