About the Product
Compact and light weight by design, the VideoMic GO delivers clear, crisp, directional audio with incredible ease of use. Its tight pickup area focuses directly in front of the microphone and reduces other surrounding sounds, ensuring that your subject is isolated from distracting background noise.
The Rode VideoMic Pro raises the bar set by the original Rode VideoMic, by combining broadcast quality audio with an ultra compact and lightweight ergonomic design.Incorporating new features specific to high end video, the VMP also evolves many of the features that have made the VideoMic so successful. Noise transference has been significantly reduced using both a revised, more elegant shock mounting system and a lightweight premium cable.

What customers say about "Key Specs"
Rode VideoMic GO Lightweight On-Camera Mic
  • The sound quality is impressive for such a budget mic.
  • I bought this mic for my Canon T4i for recording high school football. I am very pleased with the audio quality recorded in my videos. Very easy to use and great quality! Highly recommended!
  • This Mic is perfect for vloggers! Love how lightweight and compact the mic is while also enhancing the audio accompaniment for video footage.
  • The sound quality on this is much better than the built in mic of my camera, but its not as clean as my videomic pro.
  • Theres an awful screeching sound when the wind blows and it is UNUSABLE outside.
Rode VideoMic Pro Compact Shotgun Microphone
  • I was concerned that the quality might not be as good with this little guy, but I was wrong! I shoot professional wedding videography using DSLRs and was surprised by how great (clear) the sound is!
  • This is a Top Notch Microphone and every Pro Videograpgher should have one. The sound quality is similar to a condenser mic and it is awesome!
  • Really good quality. However, keep in mind that if you are going to be recording someone or something speaking from far away, you should look into a lav mic. This is more for recording something up close or vlogging
  • The sound quality that it produces is not too bad, it is a RODE product after all.
  • Great sound quality!! (bottom line it is about ALL about the sound) and it is much smaller/compact than the first version Rode Mic which is a plus.
  • I was kinda disappointed my expectation was high. I love rodes and watch tons of youtube vidoes then decided to purchase this thing with high hopes. It works but not magnificently, guess nothing can replace a boom mic.

What customers say about "Features"
Rode VideoMic GO Lightweight On-Camera Mic
  • I attached it to my go pro and its so sensitive that picks up the noise from my HERO5 Black. Yes I got a dead cat with it but thats only for wind.
  • For run and gun shooting and for Vlogging its perfect not having to think about battery life.
  • This mic is outstanding. I only wish it came with a 2.5mm adapter.
  • I also discovered that if you get it within a few feet of some cell phones, strong electronic interference is picked up. Wifi routers are also a problem source.
  • I don't hear the main speaker as well as with the lapel-mic mode, but well enough, and I can hear the other voices in the room better.
  • Clean sound but a bit on the flimsy side. It does the job which is basic. You'll need to be careful when using.
Rode VideoMic Pro Compact Shotgun Microphone
  • The battery life is excellent as well so I could literally leave it on all day. We have even used sound from this mic over a lavaliere in a ceremony because it picks up so well.
  • The way the unit is configured makes switching the battery kind of a PITA and the cord its just a bit too short. When paired with a 7D the cameras AGC with this mic produces a very audible hiss that makes the audio unusable.
  • Furry wind cover works well also and would recommend using only on windy days. Be careful putting on 9v battery as it's tricky door is hard to open.
  • Since made of plastic I could see it breaking very easily. The sound was muffled. Wouldn't spend the money.
  • I still lets in alot of background noise, its better than the on board mic on your camera.
  • The wire for the mic is a little delicate but if you take special care with your equipment you shouldn't have to worry, this product also comes with a 10 year warranty so be sure to register it if you are worried about the quality of the mic.
