Anita ANI-5301X Care Allie Women`s Cotton

Soft Cotton with Firm Support

It’s no secret that a brassiere can be a real pain in the summer when the heat is on and you’re sweating through your blouse. Luckily, the Anita ANI-5301X is the perfect choice for those sweltering days as it’s made out of extra thin breathable cotton.

While this model does have a tiny percentage of nylon and elastane in it, those materials are used for the narrow adjustable straps. You can easily wear this under a semi-transparent top without anyone spotting the straps since they’re so small.

But the choice of material isn’t the only thing that makes the Anita ANI-5301X stand out. This bra has a basic yet elegant design with smooth curves that fit the shape of your body and won’t be visible under your clothes. There’s plenty of space on the sides so your armpit area and chest won’t get sore even if you keep this brassiere on all day long. It does shrink a bit after washing so we recommend choosing a size above the one you usually wear.

As for utility, this model has pockets in both cups with enough space for prostheses of any size or brand. However, the soft cotton that’s so comfortable to wear may be a downside in this case since a more rigid prosthesis might press on the cup too much and cause discomfort. We’d recommend going for softer inserts since the bra will retain shape well either way and you don’t want to constantly feel the prosthetic.

Still, if you want comfort and style, the Anita ANI-5301X is a stellar choice. It’s soft and well-designed with plenty of support. Put this brassiere on and you won’t know that anything’s different from the days before your surgery.

Classique 779 Lace All Over

Lace and Spice to Look Nice

Looking for something sexier from your bra and not just an everyday model? We can’t fault you for wanting elegance and beauty, especially with a model like the Classique 779 Lace. This lacey lingerie may not look as good as Victoria’s Secret but it’s certainly dignified and attractive, sure to boost any mature woman’s confidence and that’s what we need from bras after mastectomy procedures.

You can choose from 4 different colors, though we especially liked the feminine red and seductive black, especially since you don’t have to worry about the bra being seen through clothes. The way it’s shaped makes this a perfect choice for dresses with a deep neckline, something slimming and flowing. It’s the kind of lingerie you can wear out for an evening with the hubbie to feel competent and get him looking forward to your return home.

We do wish the material here was a bit softer as prolonged use tends to leave the back a bit sore and while the straps have a beautiful design, they press into the shoulders and you get an imprint of that very design even after you take the brassiere off. Still, this stiffness of material also means that the prosthesis will not slide around or lose shape, preventing any embarrassing mishaps.

So while not everyone will be over the moon with a stiffer bra, we feel that the Classique 779 more than makes up for it with a sleek design, good support, and discreet pockets for your prostheses that won’t let anyone know your little secret.

Amoena 2128Frances Front-Closure

Tough to Spot, Easy to Wear

Many women prefer a type of brassieres that’s easier to put on and take off, the ones with front closure. Mastectomy bras are certainly no exception to this rule and the Amoena 2128 Frances is a prime example of that. It’s a slim-fit brassiere that stretches over your upper back, providing support and comfort thanks to cotton cups and sturdy wide straps.

Let’s discuss one of the few flaws straight away - those straps may be reliable and provide firm support but they are non-adjustable and thus might not be a good fit for some types of clothing. The bra itself, however, is thin enough not to be noticeable under a blouse or tank top, especially since you have a variety of colors to choose from. And the design even makes the Amoena 2128 a reasonable pick for sleepwear.

The fact that you can close the Amoena 2128 from the front isn’t the only smart design solution as the cotton-lined pockets on this model conceal the prostheses inside without a trace. Unless you’re peering up close, it’s pretty much impossible to tell the difference between this model and a regular bra, one of the key features that we look for in all post-lumpectomy brassieres.

If you’re still self-conscious about your procedure and want an inconspicuous piece of lingerie to provide support and fill out your chest, the Amoena 2128 is a great and reasonably priced choice.

MaxTara Special Pocket Bra To Hold Breastforms

Sense and Sensibility

Want a mix between seductive lingerie and a sensible supporting brassiere that will hide the results of your lumpectomy elegantly? We wholeheartedly recommend the MaxTara Special Pocket, which mixes lacey straps and shapely cups to create a bra that will fit a curvy woman and create a believable illusion of a full chest.

One big point that many post-mastectomy models fail to accomplish is believable movement. Thanks to special cup design and strap placement, the MaxTara brassiere ensures that your prostheses sways and slides like your chest would and it’s pretty much impossible to tell the difference. However, if you want to feel comfortable when wearing it, opt for a size above your usual one as the advertised sizes seem to be overestimated and the movement might chafe your skin a bit.

If you do find the right size, though, you’ll barely be able to feel the brassiere as it provides soft support all over without digging into your body, all thanks to the absence of wires in this model. The only materials used are cotton and lace, a perfect mix for lingerie.

All in all, the MaxTara is one of the few brassiere models that mix sex appeal with firm yet soft support. The wire-free design means that the bra is quite comfortable and it’s a solid choice for a mature and dignified woman.

Anita 5706X Tonya

A Touch of Femininity

After a stressful moment such as a mastectomy or lumpectomy, you need comfort to keep you going and enjoying the gift of life. And that should certainly apply to your underwear, which is why we recommend the Anita 5706X Tonya. It’s a wireless model that won’t dig into your chest or cause any discomfort in the areas that may be left highly sensitive after the surgery.

This particular Anita brassiere has microfiber pockets for silicone inserts that conceal them well and don’t leave much space for the prosthesis to slide around. Plus, the pockets are double-lined to make sure that the outline of the insert isn’t visible through your clothes. The tulle in the pockets is breathable and thus won’t have you sweating like some of the cotton-padded models do.

The model does have its flaws and the biggest one is actually quite common for mastectomy bras with pockets. After regular washes in the machine, this brassiere tends to lose its shape a bit and, if you want to keep it looking good as new, we recommend hand-washing instead.

In the end, if you take good care of the Anita 5706X, it’ll take excellent care of you in return. It’s sturdy and supporting yet never rigid, all thanks to the absence of wires in the brassiere itself. It’s an affordable and simple yet stylish bra that will emphasize your femininity and reassure you in your womanhood.

What Is a Mastectomy Bra?

It’s an unfortunate truth that breast cancer can hit anybody at any moment in their life. Thankfully, most of those afflicted with this type of cancer tend to live on to enjoy life. One of the ways to fight this illness is to get a lumpectomy, a special procedure that gets rid of breast cancer. But let’s not dwell on the unpleasant reality of mastectomies and lumpectomies any longer and move straight to the recovery process when you can continue living your life. It doesn't have to change all that much and firsthand accounts from survivors will surely show you that hope is always burning bright. Thankfully, you don’t have to compromise on your tastes and settle for granny bras that do nothing to help you feel beautiful. A myriad of fashionable mastectomy bras has been designed specifically for women that underwent such surgeries, made with pockets on one or both cups that contain inserts. These are made to resemble the shape of the breast and create an illusion of a standard bra. Plus, these brassieres are usually made with plenty of support yet no underwire, which is the bane of all regular models. Instead of the uncomfortable and rigid wire, the post-lumpectomy bras use soft materials that keep the shape firm without digging into your skin. In fact, many women have opted to go for such lingerie even without having undergone the surgery simply because this type of underwear is more comfortable and puts less strain on your body.

And while we’re on the subject of medically-recommended yet comfortable wear, take a look at some neck braces and back braces. These will keep your body strong without inconveniencing you in your daily routine.
