What Is It

Perhaps each of us remembers those times when we used to share our photos with friends in printed version instead of posting them on Facebook, Instagram or any other social network. We had real photo books with real photos, all glossy and shiny smelling of fresh film. Back at those times, Polaroid company made it possible to print a photo shortly after it's being taken by using a self-developing film. Alas, in the present days, most people choose to keep digital pics instead of those on a film, and that's a big shame. If you share our opinion and would like to have some printed photos too, opt for an instant camera. Modern instant cameras differ from their ancestors in weight and are available in analog and digital variations. What's more, the size of a printed pic doesn't exceed the dimensions of an ordinary credit card so you can easily keep some notable photos in your purse.

Further, we're going to review 5 best instant cameras and specify the benefits of each model, thereby making a choice for you much easier. For those, looking for a camera to take digital photos, reading our review on mirrorless cameras may come in useful. Users who mostly take photos of distant objects, should definitely obtain a bridge camera to achieve the best possible quality.

Old-fashioned Pics in a New Light

Instant photo lovers, we'd like to bring to your attention Polaroid Z2300 digital instant camera. First of all, the camera has pretty interesting design and is available in 5 different colors: black, blue, purple, red, and white. We can safely say that this model will come to the liking of both male and female users; whoever held it at least once in hands was absolutely thrilled with delight. Well, Polaroid instant camera is not only a visually appealing but also quite a functional device. It is designed with a 3'' LCD where you will be able to preview your pics before printing them. Just imagine, now it's you who will decide which of the photos to print; that's new compared to old-fashioned Polaroid cameras! This also allows you to save money on Zink's Zero Ink printer paper otherwise wasted in vain. The instant camera has a card slot for storing all photos and features 32 MB built-in memory, thusly the cam can also be used as a point-and-shoot camera with pics and videos saved on an SD card. The camera features a 10-megapixel sensor that a lot of users may find insufficient for a modern camera. But don't get misled by the numbers. 10-megapixels are more than enough for printing 2''x 3'' photos of great quality! As we've mentioned above Polaroid instant camera boasts quite rich functionality with a great number of settings. Control white balance, scene modes, shift between portrait and macro- exposure modes, set self-timer, choose image resolution and pre-set appropriate flash mode, etc. from menu. Additionally, there is a switch on the housing that allows users to choose among photo, video and playback modes. As you can see, this camera features the same options as those of all modern cameras but also, can print pictures right away. Polaroid instant camera will be highly appreciated by kids since it is user-friendly and can do magic - prints sticky pictures instantly. Zink's Zero Ink printer paper is designed with a backing sheet that can be peeled off. Thus, if you are going to purchase this camera for your children, you should definitely opt for a protective case and a wrist strap in order to protect the device from scratches or damages in case of accidental dropping.

Instant Selfies

Modern instant cameras cannot be compared to those high-end digital cameras by their functionality and pictures qualityAnd they shouldn't be since instant models are meant to bring joy, not high-quality professional pics. However, there are some devices like Fujifilm Instax that feature a wide variety of settings and shoot pretty quality pics. The given model has several focus modes that can be pre-set with the help of a lens ring dial. Using this dial you will be able to switch between normal and macro modes in seconds. What's more, those who like making "selfie" will highly appreciate the clip-on attachment with a little mirror that should be fixed to the front lens. Thus, users can make perfect selfies, welfies, ussies, relfies and other fancy photos. For your convenience, Fujifilm Instax is designed with an LCD screen and a number of control buttons located at the camera's backing. Here, "L/D" button is designed for pre-setting exposure compensation or in other words photo brightness adjustment. On LCD screen you will also find some other useful information such as a number of unexposed films, lighten-darken control, and fill-in flash mode. In all other respects, Fujifilm Instax doesn't differ a lot from its counterparts. It runs on 4 AA batteries and utilizes standard 10 film packs.

Since very few people take photos only at home, we recommend purchasing a carrying bag that will not only protect your Fujifilm instant camera from different scratches but also secure it from moisture in case you get caught in the light rain.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Camera

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Camera

Cost-effective Camera

Instax Mini 8 is yet another instant camera manufactured by the world renowned company Fujifilm. In our opinion, it is quite convenient to hold the camera in hands owing to its round shaped design and it looks really fantastic in sum. There are only 2 control buttons located on the housing: on/off and shutter release. We should note that a user can turn the device off just by pushing back the lens manually. Quite unusual engineering solution, no doubt. Another interesting thing we like in the instant camera is the system of exposure settings selecting. There is a special ring around the lens that shifts between different exposure levels when you twist it. It does resemble the process of choosing the right aperture setting or zooming an object on modern digital cameras. There are 5 different exposure levels to choose from. At the back of Fujifilm instant camera you will find a film compartment and an indicator of unexposed films. The camera operates on 2 AA batteries as almost all instant cameras but the manufacturer has designed it with auto shut-off option in order to preserve batteries power. All in all, the instant camera will definitely become an irreplaceable device for any occasion when you want to capture the perfect image.

This model comes fitted with 2 AA batteries and a wrist strap, however, you are free to purchase a rechargeable battery separately and install it instead of replaceable ones. What's more, you can choose camera cases that will match the color of your camera since both camera and cases are available in black, yellow, grape, raspberry, blue, pink, and white colors.

Small Details Make All the Difference

Mini 25 is the most compact instant camera in the line of Fujifilm products. This small device easily fits in a handbag and creates printed photos of about a credit card size. You can take it with you on both long and short trips, for parties and different projects and feel comfortable in any situations! Fujifilm Instax Mini 25, as well as similar instant cameras, uses 10 film packs but they should be fabricated under Fujifilm brand only. When speaking about film packs you should be aware that they are fitted with a black plate the camera begins printing with. So, you shouldn't worry that your pic is spoiled, it is just the plate. Fujifilm Instax Mini 25 boasts 2 shutter buttons on the housing, thus the device can be used for both vertical and horizontal shooting. Truth to be told, we have never seen 2 shutter buttons on an instant camera, so this feature sets Mini 25 apart from the competition, for sure! Additionally, you can control brightness level, monitor a number of unexposed films and make self-portraits due to the included mirror. But we think that the main benefit of the given model is the included close-up lens that guarantees excellent macro photos. So, on purchasing Fujifilm instant camera you will get super compact and retro styling camera not only for taking pics of your friends and relatives but also for shooting excellent macro photos.

To protect your instant camera from different damage, we've found a pretty solid and high-grade camera case.

As Easy As It Gets

Polaroid PIC-300 is a lovely reminder of all those great things associated with instant analog photography. The operational principle of the instant camera is similar to old models launched in 1990 with the only big difference - now you can choose between several exposure settings to customize each shot. This way with all configurations set properly, you'll never run a risk of coming up with too dark or too exposed pics. They will be all crisp and clear! You will also like the indicator that shows the number of photos left and the fact that the camera is feed by 4 AA batteries. No need to look for a power outlet or wait for hours until a battery is charged. A manufacturer has chosen an interesting way of switching the cam on - you only need to pull a lens and the cam's ready to shoot. Enjoy your old-fashioned photo cards and share them with you friends or store them in this outstanding album.
