What customers say about "Key Specs"
Black Diamond Spot Headlamp
  • It's bright enough to run safely on a moderately groomed trail in the middle of the night
  • Good spotlight mode that lights the way with seeing some of your perimeter without the small too-bright dancing spot effect of some headlamps.
  • It's bright enough to light up a 200 sq.ft. yard at 2am in the Sonoran desert, and the spotlight is bright enough to clearly see what I'm scooping up that early.
  • The large yellow spot in the middle of the light is terrible. I caught myself focusing on the yellow spot instead of the trail. This is almost a deal breaker for me.
  • The light is a cool white light. I still need to pull out my old halogen flashlight to see tracks and most anything else other than easy to see trails. If you stay on well-worn hiking trails it is fine.
Black Diamond Storm Headlamp
  • The light is super bright (which is a pro) but it is not use friendly AT ALL to switch between options.
  • Different colors come in handy for night work
  • WOW this thing is bright....I mean bright...i'm not completely convinced its not somehow nuclear powered. This thing is so bright if you look at it you not only go blind you go deaf as well.
  • Awesome! Super bright! Very durable. Comfortable! Has a little pad behind the light so the plastic isn't against your head.
  • The max brightness setting is spot and proximity both maxed on high. Super super bright headlamp.

What customers say about "Size & Weight"
Black Diamond Spot Headlamp
  • After all, its small with a nice form factor, its waterproof, and when its got fresh batteries, is quite bright.
  • This headlight was working well for what i used it for until the pivoting arms that screw into the back battery door completely fell apart now i have a headlamp, a headband, and they can not be joined
  • This unit is twice the price of those but well worth it to have a light that is comfortable and performs. Counting on it being durable as well, to be determined.
  • The weight is right where it should be, and the headband keeps the light in place for hours on end comfortably.
  • The plate behind the lamp is not very comfortable on the forehead. I was ready to take it off after about six miles and plan to add my own padding.
Black Diamond Storm Headlamp
  • This light is great for what I use it for, I might have it one for 30 minutes or even an hour, it's comfortable, small in size, and throws a lot of light. I really like it and so far it's served me well.
  • It has a little more hey than others in this size range, but once it's on I don't notice it at all. The strap is very comfortable and the slight extra padding where the light presses against your forehead is a nice touch.
  • This is impressive especially for its size. It’s like having a high power flashlight on your head. Plus it has several colors.
  • The strap sucks though - it is too loose and if you try and adjust it, it slips back to the original way to long size.
  • It's very bright for its size and doesn't have a huge battery pack.

What customers say about "Features"
Black Diamond Spot Headlamp
  • It's secure. No bobbing or straps coming loose
  • Controls are intuitive and easy to use (switching from spotlight to diffuse light, changing intensities)
  • The control is a little weird getting to the setting I want but offset by the performance and comfort.
  • Yes, the controls take a little getting used to. Very much like an iPad, two buttons control everything. Basically, there are six control inputs you can make with the buttons to control the light.
  • Battery compartment isn't water-tight, not sure that's a problem. Might be for marine use.
Black Diamond Storm Headlamp
  • Very awesome light dimming feature for all the lights (main light, side light, red, green and blue) allows you to get your optimal brightness setting very easily.
  • The upgraded lighting design is smarter, with more features, but with the same familiar controls as the last one.
  • There are so many features and options that you cannot go wrong. It is a bit complicated at first, but just read over the instructions and then start testing it out and you'll get the hang of it.
  • If you’re looking for a reliable headlamp that gives you control over its features then I recommend you give the Black Diamond Storm a shot.
  • I like the new storm features especially the redesigned compartment for the batteries but that's where it ends.
