PROS

The five spray patterns are very different. The near-solid jet stream pattern will handle tough dirt and grime, also preventing limescale buildups. The wide fan pattern will saturate wide areas. The gentle soak pattern won't harm even the most delicate flowers.

CONS

The spray pattern is ineffective when the pressure is low.

OUR VERDICT

The aircraft-grade aluminum, along with high-grade fiberglass and stainless steel, makes the nozzle practically indestructible and completely leakproof. The 2-way shut-off feature allows left- and right-handed people to switch the stream with matching comfort.

CONS

The nozzle makes this whining noise on all settings.

OUR VERDICT

The Gardenite GT2304M-10 will let you switch between 10 spray settings, going from high-pressure jet stream patterns to soft showers, so there's basically nothing this nozzle cannot do. You can clip the trigger and make the nozzle blasting water non-stop before you unclip it and pull the trigger again.

OUR VERDICT

This garden hose nozzle from Best is easily the best nozzle you can purchase for under 10 bucks. It will let you regulate the water flow and shift between eight spray patterns. The rubberized trigger is slip-resistant, so you'll be able to use it even with wet hands.

CONS

The connection point between the nozzle and the hose can leak sometimes.

OUR VERDICT

The all-metal housing with solid zinc-alloy and plastic elements makes this product pretty much immune to the elements and especially tough. You can drop the nozzle onto asphalt and concrete and usually have no issues with its performance afterward.

Bon-Aire HN-10AL

Two-Way Shut-Off

The Bon-Aire HN-10AL looks pretty simple yet the nozzle is anything but. Before anything else, the model's construction is what separates this one from the bunch, incorporating aircraft-grade aluminum, stainless steel, and high-grade fiberglass to make this spray nozzle leakproof and basically indestructible. The pieces will not start chipping off with time. The construction won't be fraying and bending, even when handled with very little care. Also, the nozzle will make sure the hose does not clog and soak you with unpredictable sputters.

The Bon-Aire HN-10AL comes housing five spray patterns, each different enough to accommodate most tasks, from watering plants to washing cars to dousing pets clean. The near-solid jet stream setting will be able to clean off the toughest dirt and grime, while the wide fan spray setting will let you quickly cover broad areas. You can use the gentle soak one to water the most delicate plants. When the pressure is low though, patterns become pretty ineffective, so we would recommend switching to the default setting when that's the case.

The two-way shut-off feature is what really tips the scales though, working in both directions to make the nozzle suitable for right-handed users and lefties alike and pretty much making this nozzle the best product within this lineup.

Gardenite GT2304M-10

From Low to High Pressure

The Gardenite GT2304M-10 is what heavy-duty and robust nozzles look like. The model's solid metal construction with its baked enamel finish will make sure the nozzle lasts. Plus, the finish makes the parts resistant against rust and corrosion and look more smooth and polished than most water hose nozzles. We can absolutely get behind the model's polished profile but, even before that, we're getting behind its 10 spray patterns. You can switch between high-pressure jet streams to clean the hardest surfaces and soft showering settings to wash pets.

Of course, we've seen nozzles with ~10 patterns before, the quantity alone does not make that much difference since the patterns are often not even that different from each other. That's not the case here though. Not only are the patterns different enough but you'll also be able to adjust the flow rate on all of these patterns using the water flow control knob.

Most nozzles come equipped with rear triggers. As far as we're concerned, they're not especially comfortable. The front squeeze-pull trigger here though is anything but uncomfortable. Plus, the trigger can be clipped to make it stay on permanently. As long as you don't mind this whining noise that the nozzle makes on all settings, there's likely nothing about this product that you won't like.

Best 8 Way Spray Pattern

Chrome Touches are Always Welcome

Best is not necessarily the name we're ecstatic about because the company's garden hose nozzle is not the best we've seen yet. That being said, considering that you can purchase this one for less than 10 bucks, this might just be the best product from the price-performance ratio standpoint on this list.

Admittedly, the nozzle has its flaws, with primarily plastic construction being the biggest flaw. On the one hand, the partially plastic build makes the nozzle lightweight and easy to maneuver. On the other hand, that plastic part also makes the model relatively fragile and susceptible to warping.

The metal parts are robust though, with the chrome-plated gasket preventing leaks and also adding aesthetics points to the nozzle's otherwise bland appearance. The textured rubber might not be especially tough but it is particularly comfortable, making the handle soft yet grippy, facilitating long-term use.

Last but absolutely not least, the nozzle comes fitted with eight patterns, including Center, Mist, Angle, Full, Jet, Flat, Cone, and Shower. With these patterns, you'll be able to turn the backyard into a car wash facility as well as covering basic needs like watering plants and washing the dog. In other words, keeping the price in mind, this is an excellent product, versatile and comfortable.

INNAV8 10 Pattern

High-Velocity Jets

The INNAV8 Garden Hose Nozzle looks like some sci-fi pistol and we have no complaints about that. In fact, that's partially what makes this nozzle so grippy and comfortable. Well, the grippy part is also thanks to the rubberized handle, letting you grab, hold, and use this nozzle with comfort and ease. The precision-threaded connection along with the rubber gasket is supposed to enable this perfect attachment between the hose and the nozzle to eliminate leaks but the gasket is not that great, so the connection point between the nozzle and the hose might leak sometimes if you don't replace it (it being the gasket, naturally).

Most nozzles are adopting somewhere between 5 and 8 spray patterns but this one goes above that, bringing the number to 10. With 10 settings, you'll be able to go from delicate showers to high-velocity jets all but demolishing light stains, dirt, and grime. There's also the water flow control lever that will let you regulate the flow rate and make these patterns more or less dynamic when necessary.

Before concluding, we'd also like to mention the solid zinc-alloy, plastic, and metal construction that makes the nozzle basically immune against the elements and makes this product more than good enough to make the list.

Gilmour Full Size Zinc

Almost too Affordable

The Gilmour Full Size Zinc Pistol Grip Nozzle costs less than five bucks, so we went into this one with all-time low expectations and have been more than pleasantly surprised with what we've seen. Needless to say, the product has its downsides, you cannot make the price tag this low and avoid those.

From where we're standing, the biggest downside is the fact that you will only have one spray setting to choose from. That's pretty huge but, again, understandable when you do not forget the ridiculously low price. Other than that, some might find the nozzle too slim and compact and, without rubberized coating, uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time but that's subjective and not something we will delve into.

Instead, we'll pivot toward the die-cast zinc construction that makes the nozzle tough and durable, though not immune to rust and corrosion. From that, we'll move towards the serrated handle that's not especially soft but more than grippy, with these cutouts making sure that the nozzle does not slip from your hands even when the said hands are wet.

Long story short, this nozzle is great when you take the price into account. Using the threaded front, you'll be able to attach cleaning tools and streamline maintenance, while the water flow control knob will make regulating the flow rate simply enough.

What Is a Garden Hose Nozzle?

Garden hoses and especially expandable hoses sometimes come equipped with nozzles and sometimes come without them. Even when they're shipped with them though, these nozzles are usually not that impressive, so we would normally recommend purchasing separate garden hose nozzles, like the ones we've added to this list.

These nozzles are constructed from the toughest materials, from high-grade aluminum and stainless steel to plastic, zinc, and high-strength fiberglass. Needless to say, the plastic and fiberglass ones are less susceptible to the elements but are also usually more fragile. To go from that, good, non-budget nozzles are usually equipped with 5-10 spray settings so that you're able to switch between different tasks and maximize efficiency. Nozzles with water flow control knobs/levers are not especially rare these days too, which is great since these ones allow you to adjust the flow rate to make sure you're not using excess water.

Besides that, we usually like our garden hose nozzles with rubberized grips so that we're able to hold and use them with comfort and without worrying about dropping them.
