What customers say about "Key Specs"
Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope w/ WIFI,Black 12091
  • I would have given this a 5 star rating except for an issue I had the second time I used the scope.
  • Now that I've had the scope for several months I think it is time to write a review giving the "pros" and "cons". This scope is an upgrade from my 90mm Orion table top scope...so a REALLY big upgrade.
  • Quite impressed with this telescope. I upgraded from a 8" and there is a significant difference.
  • If you like looking for stars, don't buy this scope. If you like looking at stars, buy this scope.
  • Great scope. Enjoy it very much. The starsence works pretty well using the hand controller.
Celestron NexStar 8 SE Telescope
  • This scope is perfect for a beginner, can be set-up in about 10 minutes, and aligns easily by pointing to three bright objects in the sky.
  • Great Telescope for 3 years now. I bought the 5" for the polar alignment feature. There are many good reviews on here about the scope already.
  • This is hands down a fantastic instrument. I purchased this scope to have something portable for camping in the summer and something less cumbersome to set up in our pasture for impromptu star parties.
  • Love this scope, here are the pictures i took with a self made wedge and simple guider scope.
  • Nice and big (8 inches of course) aperture. It could reveal plenty of deep sky objects.

What customers say about "Features"
Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope w/ WIFI,Black 12091
  • Telescope was very easy to setup no real need for instructions.
  • Nice and easy to set up and super simple to align. I had a C-11 10 years ago with dual fork arms and was therefore worried that the single fork arm design wasn't going to be stable enough, but it hasn't been a problem at all.
  • So easy to set up, so easy to use
  • Starbright XL coats are magnificent, views are crystal clear and sharp. Breaks down and sets up very easily. GOTO when set up is spot on.
  • I updated the firmware in the telescope...be mindful that it updates the motor software, the Star sense and the hand controller firmware.
Celestron NexStar 8 SE Telescope
  • The software it ships with is amazing, however the drivers don't explicitly have the 8se, so you have to know your focal point and some other technical data to hand install the 8se.
  • Good quality material. Everything looks and feels great.
  • Easy to use the basic features on it.
  • Great / easy set up and alignment. I find that it tracks the planets very well, drifting out of the finder only about every half hour or so.
  • This thing looks amazing. When ever people see this thing they think we spent a fortune
  • Some acccessories which come with this telescope. The finder scope is, IMHO, too small.

What customers say about "Mount Information"
Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope w/ WIFI,Black 12091
  • For its size the scope and mount are light and portable. This is not to say it is light...just lighter than anything else for the same size.
  • The telescope arrive in several pieces (tripod, mount, OTA), putting it together is very easy and takes just a few minutes.
  • The mount is solid and rather heavy and is secured to the tripod with spring loaded knob. An improvement versus the 8".
  • The new features are in the mount and tripod. The tripod is a bit more robust with detents in the legs for easier leveling.
  • So far it seems like a great scope and mount but, I couldn't get the wifi access point configuration to work.
Celestron NexStar 8 SE Telescope
  • Build quality is built tough. Tri pod is very sturdy and scope is built with tight tolerances.
  • Mount is built tough and very easy to use.
  • Even though it's an Alt-Azimuth mount (not an equatorial) it tracks objects pretty well.
  • Mount is solid, slight bounce on high power but settles near immediate, is what you want!
  • The scope itself is fine but the mount is not designed well. With the equatorial wedge there is no AZ adjustment making
