Very good picture quality, even in marginal lighting conditions
The resolution and detail is good but I found that the infrared detection is way too sensitive.
It has a good resolution with a great night view and angle.
The motion sensor sensitivity is great and I can check in on my pets. To top it off, I like that when I come home, thanks to a setting for each camera, it turns off the cameras so I am not getting alerts when I am home.
Unable to change resolution. having camera on constantly will chew through bandwidth at 1080p.

The resolution is excellent and the motion/sound alerts are wonderful.
You will obviously lose some resolution, but we have found it to be quite acceptable still.
The phone application required a little figuring out to get things correct. The camera is dependent on your internet connection so if it's fast it will work better. The focal length is about one average size room.
This camera has a great picture and is very quick and easy to set up. I like that I can see the video on any device just by logging into my Nest account. It has a wide field of view that allows me to see the entire room.
I can no longer get good resolution when I zoom ... it simply hyper zooms beyond the point I've established, and all I see is pixelation.

Amazon Cloud Cam Security Camera

When notifications are turned on, the mobile app sends a notification to my phone. Nice feature, but with it enabled I found that I was using a large amount of data on my cell plan (about 1GB in a few days) not from the app, but instead from an Android background service.
You can set the camera to know if you are home or away based on your phone's location. For me this feature doesn't help much because I'm home at night, but I want the camera to notice if the teenager is up and around the house. (no sneaking out with this camera)
The only feature I would request is that you can turn the notifications on/off by GPS. Right now you can turn the camera on/off by GPS but I want the camera capturing things continuously, especially when I am home, in the event any sort of event happened while I am home.
Can't sign up for advanced features on the app, you have to go into your amazon account and find the cloud subscription. It would be nice to be able to do that from the app
Auto on/off feature is too coarse. Camera will not auto-turn on while I'm walking the dog, or even at the nearby grocery store. Can't fine tune the auto-on distance, and have to do it manually.

Nest Cam Security Camera

I can't say enough good things about the new app. The feature to scrub through a timeline to quickly see activities is perfect.
The "alert" system is oddly conceived. You only get alerts every 30 minutes. So, since we use the unit as a baby monitor, we have to constantly keep an eye on it. It won't alert you again until you enter into a new 30 minute window.
Another good feature is that Nest e-mails you every time there is a break in Wi-Fi service. The Nest camera system would be a great security camera system but it is also ideal to help and keep track of elderly parents.
The motion alert feature is great for when you are away, but I wish Nest would concede some short amount of video history for casual users.
The only issue I have is with the storage side. I have no problems with paying or anything like that or even the tiers. The issue is for goodness sakes why is it not available for us in more countries - sort this out as to me its the most limiting problem.
