Medeco 11R503-19-1

Superior Protection

The Medeco 11R503-19-1 has been designed to provide as much protection against physical interference as possible. Certified BHMA Grade 1, the model exceeds every industry testing standard for performance and security.

The bolt's solid brass, free-turning collar, and 1/4-inch diameter mounting bolts are able to resist wrenching, prying, and hammering attacks. At the same time, with its one-inch throw, the hardened steel bolt will have no problems repelling sawing and crowbar attacks.

Moreover, the hardened steel inserts and the lock's rotating pins pretty much guarantee drill and pick resistance too.

As far as logistics are concerned, this five-pin, single-cylinder deadbolt will be able to fit front doors between 1-3/4" and 2" thick. You'll be able to install the lock using any standard 2-3/8" cross-bore hole and one-inch edge bore. The backset measures 2-3/4” and the faceplate here is 1-1/8”. As it is usually the case with the company's products, the finish is polished brass.

Long story short, the Medeco 11R503-19-1 is up there with the strongest locks, pretty much impossible to break open. You can entrust the lock to protect property and people. The only issue is that replacement keys are pretty expensive, so try not to lose the two keys that come supplied with the lock.

Motovecor Mechanical

No Need to use the Keys

The Hangcheng Keyless Entry Door Lock is much more sophisticated than traditional deadbolts.

First and foremost, despite that "keyless" part, you can open and close the lock using the three keys that come supplied with the package.

The difference here is that you don't have to use the keys. Instead, you can set up any passcode between four and eight digits and access the lock via the keypad. The keypad is wear-resistant, so you won't have to worry about leaving any clues to thieves. The operation is completely and entirely mechanical, meaning that you won't have to bother with batteries.

The combination deadbolt's high-grade 304 stainless steel construction is especially hard and practically impossible to physically pry open. The surface has received anti-corrosion treatment, meaning you can install this deadbolt without worrying about the everchanging weather.

The product looks as sleek and stylish as they come. At the same time, the finish is not all that scratch-resistant, so we would recommend treading with accuracy and caution.

Bottom line, the Hangcheng Keyless Entry Door Lock gives you more options than traditional deadlocks. You can use the keypad or the supplied keys to open/close the lock. The 'bolt will work for residential homes, different apartment buildings, offices, various commercial establishments, schools, and hospitals. As far as keyless locks are concerned, this is pretty much as good as it gets within this price range.

Schlage B60 N CEN 622

Aesthetics Too

The Schlage Single-Cylinder Deadbolt is almost too affordable considering how practical and reliable the product is. Locks don't have to be especially attractive but the matte black finish and its delicate, slightly curved shape make the 'bolt look as elegant as they come.

Despite the model's elegant profile, it is exceedingly secure. The anti-pick shield and one-piece frame work wonders protecting the lock against tampering. The single-cylinder lock is pick- and bump-resistant too. The company's premium metal construction also makes the product as resistant to any crowbar, hammer, wrench, saw attacks and kick-ins as the next lock.

At the same time, the model's plenty practical. The admittedly unique Snap & Stay™ mechanism enables easy, one-person, no-extra-hands-required installation. The universal latches easily slide into place and require no tools/manual adjustments to install.

Sure, the whole setup process might take some time. It shouldn't prove challenging though.

In other words, the Schlage Single-Cylinder Deadbolt will fit pretty much any door. With this lock, you won't have to worry about safety and security. At the same time, the model is unusually elegant, meaning you don't have to take aesthetics into consideration.

Kwikset 99800-097

SmartKey Security™ Tech

The people behind the Kwikset 99800-097 take security as seriously as the next security company.

Fitting the deadbolt with SmartKey Security™ tech, these people have been able to protect the lock against various advanced break-in techniques. At the same time, the mechanism/tech enables you to re-key the lock in seconds. The only issue with this SmartKey™ security system is that it makes the lock open and close relatively slowly.

The heavy-gauge reinforced steel plate makes the lock pretty much immune to traditional break-in methods involving crowbars, wrenches, hammer, saws, and good old kick-ins. The anti-bump build also contributes to making the lock as secure as possible.

Installation-wise, the bored lock will be able to easily and comfortably fit into just about any door, enabling quick and effortless installation. Drill two holes into the door and that's it, you're ready to set the lock up.

The aesthetics perspective have been taken into consideration too. Built from high-grade iron, the lock adds this noticeable dignified touch to any door/cabinet.

In short, the Kwikset 99800-097 provides the necessary peace of mind that very few locks within this price bracket are able to provide. The deadbolt's perfect for residential use.

Rulart Double Cylinder

Privacy and Passage

The Rulart Double-Cylinder Deadbolt offers privacy and passage. The lock's as secure as they come.

Incorporating the most solid copper cylinder keyhole and an equally solid steel latch, the 'bolt is protected against prying and collision.

Thieves won't be able to saw away this lock. They won't be able to crack the lock open using any wrench, crowbar, and/or hammer.

At the same time, you won't have any issues installing this deadbolt. It is compatible with any door that ranges between 1.375" and 2" thickness-wise. The adjustable latch will fit backplates from 2-3/8" to 2-3/4". The necessary mounting hardware comes supplied with the package, so you won't need anything but one screwdriver and 10-15 minutes to install this deadbolt.

The satin stainless steel finish makes the lock look pretty sleek and stylish considering how relatively basic it is. Plus, the finish is as scratch-, rust, and corrosion-resistant as they come.

As far as we're concerned, the only problem with the lock is the somewhat loud mortise mechanism.

Apart from that, the Rulart Double-Cylinder Deadbolt is somewhat basic but that's seldom an issue when it comes to locks. Taking the price (especially considering the mounting hardware and the three keys that come supplied with the 'bolt) into account, the product offers great value.

Review of Rulart Double Cylinder Keyed on Both Sides

What is a Deadbolt?

A Deadbolt (sometimes with the space between dead and bolt, also occasionally referred to as dead lock) is any locking mechanism that's different from standard spring bolt locks because these 'bolts cannot be moved to the open position without rotating the key.

Since traditional spring bolt locks use a spring to hold the bolt, these mechanisms can be retracted when you apply enough force to the bolt even without accessing the spring.

That's not the case with deadbolts. You cannot open these things without the right key. Of course, there's also the brute force approach but, more often than not, half-decent 'bolts are pretty resistant to sawing, wrenching, and all these other traditional break-in methods.

At this time, there's some variation between different deadbolts. For one, high-end models usually come equipped with rotating pins that make the lock especially protected against drills and picks. Security aside, there're also the finish/materials that determine how well the lock will be able to serve in the long run.

Of course, these things are not as sophisticated as fingerprint door locks and smart locks, so if you don't mind forking over excess dough, you might want to look into these instead. You can install these on metal doors too.
