The Dremel tool itself is great and I really appreciate the variable speed settings.
It has plenty of power and the adjustable speed lets you tune the Dremel to the task at hand.
But this Dremel is powerful and has adjustable speed setting. It took me awhile shopping online and reading reviews to find a Dremel that would meet all my needs and this is definitely the one.
The tool doesn't have a lot of torque, so you need to let it operate at high speeds and let the rotational speed do the work.
I feel that it is worth the money to get your Dremel with a varible speed control. Speed does matter and it gives you something to play with when you get bored or just thinking things over.

I've owned this tool and the accessories for at least 15 years, and it has never failed me yet. It's a very high quality rotary tool.
I Just wish they would make foot pedal that you can adjust the speed with, would make a lot of the work I like to do much easier.
I have used the dremel and the cable extension along with some of the bits. The variable speed tool works very well.
It gets into small spaces and with the variable speed you have complete control while working on your project.
The only problem I have with the dremel is that it gets quite hot when running at high speed.

Dremel 4000-6/50 Variable Speed Rotary Tool

This unit works good. I previously had one of the original Dremels and finally had to replace it. They have made some real improvements. Nice size, weight and feel.
Not a commercial rotary tool but a light weight all around small task tool as in hobbyist tool.
It makes it hard to do some of the finer projects I was wanting to do because it's weight and size makes it awkward to handle.
The flex shaft is particually nice since it allows you to have a light weight tool in your hands for detail work.
I use this for my 2 Dremel work stations, drill press and router table, has the power the cordless doesn't, but the cordless is used more often for it's portability.

This thing is so versatile and handy! I bought it initially to do some lapidary work but have found so many uses for it!
The Dremel is actually MORE expensive than its alternatives because you are essentially paying for its small size.
The versality and small size have made it indispensable.
All I can say is this is a great tool. I was always looking for that small tool that would do just about everything.
For all my small hobby cutting/grinding tool needs it works ok.

Comes with some nice attachments, can't wait to use the sharpener on my mower blades and see how well it works. Very pleased
This specific unit is extremely powerful, light, durable, and not too noisy. It includes a few bits which work well, but I wish i included more for the level of the kit.
The better tool ever for home or diy, probably doesn't works for heavy duty works. but so much accesories can be attached.
The tool is great the accesories are good but the only thing this that it did have the disk to cut wood that is my only fault with this product.
Great product; love that I finally have the full set with all possible attachments included in the package.

Has almost every feature you want. Part on power cord keeps falling off but not a big deal.
This kit features the new 400 Series XPR rotary tool, a saw attachment for cutting in tight places, a planer perfect for unsticking doors affected by humidity, a flex light attachment to light up the work area and sharpeners for lawn mowers and garden tools.
It is well-made, it does have a lot of cool attachments that in theory work great
Also, the Dremel 4000 with all the attachments from my old 400 is unstoppable. It's clearly more of a work tool than the 400 was. The 400 seemed a bit more like a toy.
I've already used it to cut through wood & drywall to install outlets in my basement and used another attachement to easily saw through metal.

It feels solid in my hand and has good power for what it does.
As with all Dremel brand rotary tools, this is excellent construction, power, and versatility.
So I love the dremel (when it was working) great power, easy to use, simple, did everything I needed it to do, except power back up it just stopped working out of the blue and only used it a few times.
Be aware that you will lose some power with this extension, there were times when drilling and cutting that it would seize and I would have to turn it off, remove the tool, and start again moving slower.
It has plenty of power and the adjustable speed lets you tune the Dremel to the task at hand.

Great rotary tool - with power to spare.
This new unit has more power than previous Dremel's I've owned, enough to even cut through 5/16" hardwood plywood using the mini-saw attachment.
Has almost every feature you want. Part on power cord keeps falling off but not a big deal.
Moving on to the performance of this tool. It's the most powerful Dremel at 2 amps.
Garbage, just like the last review, my motor seized up.
UNK! This is the second unit/motor I have burned up.... will not take any serious wood working other than balsa wood. DO NOT buyany dremel product! Cheaply made and engineered. Is a fire hazard.
Noisy at high rpm compared to its small size.
