GreenWorks 24322

Unlimited Mobility

Are you tired of spending your precious time on cleaning fallen leaves or grass after lawn mowers? There is a solution! GreenWorks leaf vacuum is what you really need. This machine is battery powered, meaning it won't produce any emissions and you'll be able to move it freely around your yard reaching all of its corners. Thanks to the G-Max technology which the folks behind GreenWorks have implemented in this leaf model, the machine can operate up to 60 minutes on a single charge which is a very good operating time considering that what we're dealing with is a cordless tool. Charging the batteries isn't a long process either and will take about 2 hours maximum. Another thing that adds to the performance and durability of the tool is the fact that it has a brushless motor which, unlike many others installed in regular models, boasts a longer life, more powerful performance, and quieter operation. The combination of a brushless motor and the best technologies used has made it possible to reduce the vibration level of the tool by 70% so you can use it anytime and with maximum convenience.

Power of the Battery

If you worry that battery-powered appliances aren't as powerful as those that run off electricity, we'd like to prove you wrong. And the GreenWorks leaf vacuum we're talking about is a good example of that. Take a look at the technical specifications of the 24322 and compare them with other vacs. Even a very quick analysis will be enough to see that the GreenWorks' 24322 can match the power and performance of corded models. The machine features 340 CFM airflow volume and 185 MPH speed, which will enable you to clean both wet and dry leaves as well as twigs and other debris efficiently and with ease. In addition to great speed parameters, the GreenWorks leaf vacuum features three functions such as blowing, vacuuming, and mulching. Basically, this means it combines the functionality of three garden tools so you don't need to buy them additionally. Performing any of the functions is easy by connecting one of the attachments that come supplied with the tool (two narrow tubes are used for blowing, while the wider tubes are used for vacuuming). Changing attachments requires neither additional tools nor screwdrivers and can easily be done by anyone. Finally, we'd like to turn your attention towards the availability of a shredding function which makes it possible to grind leaves to petite size so that they don't take all space in the collection bag.

G-MAX 40V_185MPH DigiPro Blower/Vac - Assembling as a Mulcher

Toro 51621

Three in One, Leaves Be Gone

Your yard is the first thing that people notice about your house so you have to keep it in top shape. Instead of spending hours raking leaves and stuffing them into garbage bags manually, consider saving your time and getting the Toro 51621 UltraPlus. This high-power leaf vacuum is going to automate the process a bit and make it easier on you.

The Toro 51621 UltraPlus is a three-in-one model that combines a vacuum, a blower, and a mulcher in one package. Despite being that versatile, it doesn’t lag behind in any of the modes, offering a top airflow of 350 CFM and 410 CFM in the blow and vac settings respectively. We don’t recommend going for the top level, though, unless you want to blow leaves all the way into your neighbor’s yard (you can, though, we promise we won’t tell) or suck up a bit of ground along with the debris. Besides, when used at max speed, the Toro 51621 does tend to vibrate a bit. Still, the option to go all out and suck up leaves in a matter of minutes is a nice bonus for those that like to keep their cleanups brisk and effective.

Since most leaf vacuuming sessions still take a bit of time, we really appreciated the fact that the Toro 51621 is relatively lightweight at below 9 lbs. Besides, you won’t have to move it around much thanks to the oscillating nozzle that creates a small air stream that sucks up leaves from the sides in addition to those that are directly in front of the vacuum itself.

Accesories for All Purposes

We’d be remiss not to mention the excellent array of accessories that come for free when you purchase the Toro 51621. While not all of them will be useful in day to day cleanups, you’ll be thankful that you’ve got them when the time comes. For example, the so-called “shredz ring” cuts up big leaf clumps that tend to litter yards in early autumn, making it easier for the device to mulch them quicker. Meanwhile, the multiple tubes can be swapped out depending on cleanup type. For example, we’d recommend the concentrator for spot cleaning, useful if you’ve got a small patch that needs to be cleared while the rest of the yard is already in pretty good shape.

Our only design gripe would have to be the fact that the appliance is corded so you might not be able to reach the farthest corners of your property if you’ve got a big yard. However, choosing a cordless model would mean keeping your cleanups very short as they tend to eat through the battery in 10-20 minutes tops. So it’s a two-sided coin and we recommend overlooking the limited range just this once because it’s amplified anyway, all thanks to the powerful motor and airflow.

Worth It for the Quality

So if you want a powerful leaf blower that combines all the necessary functions in one relatively lightweight package, the Toro 51621 UltraPlus is an astute choice. We do feel like it’s a bit noisier than most and the vibrations at max speed are not that fun but the device delivers excellent performance and has plenty of accessories that will make your cleanups more efficient. If noise and a slightly-above-average price are not a big deal, definitely choose the Toro 51621 UltraPlus.

What customers say about this product

Key Specs

The high speed air gets into places you could not shovel.

Power

One positive about the vacuum: it is powerful enough to suck up leaves but not powerful enough to suck up dog poop, very convenient.

Features

The volume control was easy to use and I think when using it to blow stuff from a variety of surfaces the easy of changing it will be a big plus.

Size & Weight

The Toro 51621 is easy to handle, light in weight but powerful.

WORX WG509

Everything is Close at Hand

Another model of leaf vacuum which is worth your attention is the WORX WG509. This electric model works from the home electric power supply. Although your movements are a bit limited by the length of the power cord, it shouldn’t stop you from considering this model as you always have a chance to buy an extension cord. Moreover, this model has a lot of advantages such as light weight, quiet performance, and lack of emissions. As well as the majority of models, the WORX WG509 appliance has three main functions – vacuuming, blowing, and mulching. So what’s special about the tool then? Of course, it’s usability! The thing is that you don’t need to change attachments for different purposes. Two built-in nozzles (located one under another) are enough to successfully vacuum and blow leaves. The angled nozzle for vacuuming deals with leaves under patio furniture or in difficult-to-reach places. If you want to change the mode, all you need to do is flip a special switch. Thus, blowing leaves in one heap, then vacuuming them will be a trouble-free and simple process. By the way, you can also shred them with 18:1 mulch ratio – this function is helpful for saving space in a collection bag or creating fertilizer for the soil. If you feel that the leaves block the system, you’ll be able to solve the issue fast due to the vacuum's design – it is divided into two parts for easily removal of stuck leaves or branches.

Review of WORX WG509 Electric Vacuum

Efficiency

Of course, the usability of this garden equipment won’t interest you until it is powerful enough to accomplish the tasks you’re going to perform in your garden. As for the efficiency of this model, it can be determined as medium. Its 210 MPH speed and 350 CFM volume assist in blowing and vacuuming dry and a bit wet leaves. There is also a possibility to change the speed of airflow depending on your goal. In general, the WORX WG509 model of leaf vacuum is a good choice for relatively small areas. So, if your yard or garden isn’t large but you’re still tired of using rakes, this model of leaf vacuum is definitely what you need.

Toro 51619

Perfect Composition

Toro is a seasoned company that has been producing outdoor & garden equipment for more than 100 years. This fact alone gives enough confidence in the quality of the product produced by this brand. Another fact that adds appeal to Toro equipment is the kind of price tag that comes attached to their machines. All of their tools are cost-effective and affordable for most. For this review, we've picked the model that we regard as one of the most practical and economical solutions available in their series of garden tools - the Toro 51619, a leaf blower that combines the functionality of a blower and a leaf vacuum cleaner. This is the electric-type leaf vacuum which means it's environmentally friendly and comparatively quiet in operation. It boasts powerful performance that can easily match the efficiency of gas machines and is able to handle all types of debris including wet leaves, branches, and acorns. The volume of the airflow the machine can produce is variable and can be changed depending on conditions. Like more expensive models of leaf vacs, the Toro 51619 features a mulch function which allows shredding leaves, branches and all other debris into the smaller size so that it would take less space in the bag. Though, if you have a garden, rather than shredding mulch you could use it as a fertilizer. We'd also like to mention that Toro engineers have done their best to make it easier for homeowners to store the tool after use. Dissimilar to many bulky models that require a lot of space in the shed, this one can be easily disassembled and stored in a bag.

Review of Toro 51619 Ultra Leaf Blower & Vacuum

Handling Leaves

As we've mentioned above, fallen leaves are the main part of natural fertilizer for soil in your yard, garden or field. As humus is rich in nitrogen and phosphate, it will become a good fertilizer for acidophiles – plants that grow in the acid environment. It will also prevent the growth of weeds, soil erosion and leaching of minerals. With a leaf vacuum, you can make a natural fertilizer yourself using both dry and wet leaves. Dry leaves are perfect for roots of thermophilic plants such as hydrangea, chrysanthemum, rose. If you decide to use wet leaves, it's best to shred them first and then leave them in water for some time until they start to rot turning into the substance rich in useful components. If all this sounds like a lot of work for you, there's an easier solution; you can put leaves straight on vegetable beds and leave them there until the next string. When spring comes, it'll be enough to loose the soil a bit.

Toro UltraPlus Electric Leaf Blower Vac (51621): Product Review

What customers say about this product

Features

It is much much quieter than a gas blower, it is so quite you dont really need earmuffs.

Key Specs

The variable speed means anyone can use this with no problems.

Power

This thing is very light and but extremely powerful.

Size & Weight

I think the weight is just fine. I'm an older guy and not in great shape; but I can use the blower for quite a while without having to rest. I think in part because the blower is balanced well.

Black & Decker BV6000

A Silent Power

Hate the noisy leaf blowers that your neighbors use, seemingly always in the morning while you’re trying to get some sleep? Well, you don’t have to follow their example and we definitely recommend going for a quieter model instead. If you want one that’s not loud as a tractor and yet still reasonably powerful, try out the Black & Decker BV6000.

Despite having a motor that stands its ground against high-end models that would cost you twice as much, the BV6000 is reasonably quiet, unlike other appliances of its type. With a 68 dB max noise level, this model may not be silent but, yet again, it purrs like a kitten when compared to some of the competitors.

But low noise isn’t all you get from the Black & Decker BV6000, of course. This model is a three-in-one with a vacuum/blower/mulcher combo. Whatever leaves or branches you mulch will go directly into the collection bag. The device does come with a reusable one as well as 2 disposables so you can get rid of the nastier debris first without having to wash out the reusable bag. And don’t worry about the leaves blocking the vacuum tube as a high-impact metal fan is placed inside to shred everything quickly and prevent clogs.

Review of Black & Decker BV6000 High Performance Blower/Vac/Mulcher

Wear and Care

Although we feel like the Black & Decker BV6000 could use some improvement in terms of airflow, the 400 CFM max level is completely reasonable for regular yard work. What is a nice bonus, though, is the shoulder strap on the device that takes some of the load off of your hands. It’s sturdy enough to support the device’s 8.1 lb weight, which is also somewhat on the low side for a regular leaf vacuum.

We were quite disappointed by the assembly instructions, though, as they are not very informative and pretty much leave you to deal with putting the vacuum together on your own. The process isn’t that difficult but it would be nice to have some help along the way, especially since there are several swappable tubes that come with the model. Still, the assembly is a one-time ordeal and shouldn’t be a dealbreaker in any case.

Black & Decker BV6000 High Performance Blower/Vac/Mulcher in the use

An Affordable Choice

Though you might have some trouble putting the Black & Decker BV6000 High Performance together, it’ll all be worth it once you’re done. It’s great for regular yard maintenance and convenient to use thanks to smart design and the comfy shoulder strap. Although it’s not as versatile as the more expensive models and still has room for improvement, it’s one of the better basic leaf vacuums and pretty affordable to boot. If you don’t have a huge yard, don’t hesitate to get the Black & Decker BV6000 and keep that lawn immaculate.

Comparison of Leaf Vacuums to Clean Your Yard in Minutes

What Is a Leaf Vacuum?

Actually, a leaf vacuum isn’t only a vacuum. Generally, this machine performs several functions such as vacuuming, blowing, and mulching. Although not all models fulfill three functions, this equipment will become an irreplaceable assistant in your garden anyway. Using it, you can gather leaves in one heap, vacuum them easily and turn them into natural fertilizer for your garden with mulching function. We'll do our best to help you select the best blower vac available as it's just a matter of knowing what you're looking for. Most models are similar in features and vary in power, airflow velocity, and a few other key points that determine how efficiently the vacuum will work. This automated appliance is definitely much more efficient than a rake or manual leaf pickup, bringing garden work into the modern times and making your life easier.

To learn more about appliances used for taking care of gardens and yards, look through our leaf blowers, gas leaf blowers, and backpack blowers reviews and see if you can find something to help you keep the garden neat and trimmed.

Best Leaf Vacuums

What Features to Compare

Type and functions

The first thing to pay attention to while choosing a leaf vacuum is its type. There are two of them – gas and electric. In general, the vacuums of the first type are more powerful and efficient. It’s convenient to use them if you don't want to be dependent on the power supply. The only thing you need to start working is to have some amount of gas nearby. Such leaf vacuums let you take care of quite a big territory. Electric leaf blowers are subdivided into battery-powered and corded ones. They aren’t as powerful as the gas ones but still efficient enough to keep a yard of a medium size in order. The main advantage of electric vacuums is that they are environmentally friendly. They are also lighter and work quietly. As for leaf vacuums’ functions, these appliances usually (but not always) perform three of them – blowing, vacuuming and mulching. Thus, you have a range of options to choose from to maintain your yard/garden/field in a perfect condition. We're mainly focusing on the electric ones in this article but picking out the best gas model shouldn't be too tough either.

Efficiency

The efficiency of a leaf vacuum depends on two factors – airflow volume (measured in cubic feet per minute or CFM) and airflow speed (measured in miles per hour, also known as MPH). The greater the volume is, the easier it will be for you to clean your yard – you won’t need to move much to gather all the leaves in one heap. However, if you are going to use the appliance as a vacuum, the large volume might cause some inconveniences. For example, small branches might block the nozzle and clog the vacuum’s system. Thus, we would recommend you to consider models with approximately 400 CFM volume. As for the airflow speed, it determines the ability to blow or vacuum heavy objects such as wet leaves or small litter. If your yard isn’t big, 150-200 MPH is enough to clean it from undesirable stuff.

Usability

This feature varies depending on the vacuum’s type. For example, gas equipment benefits from the ability to start the vacuum with one button instead of pulling the cord. As you need a different speed for vacuuming and blowing, you’ll also appreciate a speed adjustment feature. Electric vacuums are more convenient to use if they have a cord lock system and a cord storage hook. The ability to change modes easily (from vacuum to blower and vice versa) will be another advantage. Finally, pay attention to the attachments compatible with your vacuum. An angled nozzle will allow you to clean places difficult to reach while a narrow one will help manage wet leaves. And, of course, a collection bag lets you gather and store leaves and other stuff until disposal or shredding.
