What Is It

In this review, we're going to compare the best portable camping stoves which will help you cook and reheat some food easily. Due to the convenience and compactness of these appliances, camping stoves are perfect for people who like outdoor leisure or fishing, hunting, camping and even hiking. A camping stove is the best solution for those who prefer the active lifestyle.

Modern camping stoves are usually equipped with piezo ignition, that allows you to light the burner without matches and lighters in any weather conditions. Thus, such stoves are absolutely safe.

If you prefer cooking at home, pay attention to compact and handy Electric Griddles.

What To Look For

Probably, the first and the most important feature for cooking stoves is the type of fuel. The most widespread and economical fuel is the propane, which can be bought at most gas stations and stores. But for areas with the colder climate, a liquid fuel will be more appropriate as it has low-temperature resistance.

The cooking / heating speed depends on the cooking power, which is usually measured in British thermal units (BTUs). The simplest model has the maximal power of 9,000 BTUs / hour, whereas the most powerful appliance in our review has the power of up to 60,000 BTUs / hour per each burner though it has a relatively high fuel consumption rate. Also, cooking outdoors isn't easy because of unpredictable weather conditions. The blowing wind often stifles the fire in a burner of your camping stove, so you need to re-ignite it once again. That's why you'd better choose a camping stove with wind resistance capabilities. The stoves with wind protection can heat the tea up to 2.5 times faster in windy weather than the stoves without such a feature.

While choosing from a large number of models, it is necessary to decide how many people you will cook for. And that's why you need to know the number of burners. A stove with 1 burner and low fuel consumption is perfect for the family of 2-3 people, but for a larger number of people, it is much better to buy a stove with 2 burners and separate regulation. Such a system will speed the heating/cooking process up due to the higher power and the ability to cook several dishes at a time. The size of burners also makes great impact on the heating speed. If you use big cookware, you should choose the stove with the big burners as the small burners will heat up such plates and dishes much slower.

And finally, let's mention such a feature as the stove dimensions. It is important if you're going to use the cookware of a different size. For pots and pans of a medium size, for example, it is better to purchase a stove with the cooking surface no less than 10 inches, for plates and dishes of a bigger size, choose an appliance with the cooking area of 14 inches. For those who like frequent outdoor leisure, the stove size as well as its weight is an essential question. Small camping stoves are more portable but less stable than bigger units. In a certain sense, it's a matter of compromise.

Review of Coleman Powerhouse Guide Series Dual Fuel Stove

Coleman Powerhouse Guide Series Dual Fuel Stove

Coleman Powerhouse Guide Series Dual Fuel Stove

FUEL TYPE AND COOKING POWER

Coleman Guide Series Powerhouse Dual Fuel Stove works with two types of fuel: Coleman liquid fuel and unleaded gasoline. This feature makes this camping stove a universal option for use in any season. We should also note that 1 gallon of Coleman® fuel lasts as long as 4.5 cylinders of propane. So, with a fully fueled tank of 3.5 pints, you'll get 2.3 hours of constant burn time. Additionally, Coleman Dual Fuel Stove shows great cooking performance due to 17,000 BTUs of total power. So, your dishes will be ready quite fast.

NUMBER OF BURNERS AND COOKWARE SIZE

Coleman Dual Fuel camping stove has 2 separate burners (13,500 BTU and 11,000 BTU correspondingly) to quicken the cooking process. It boils a quart of water in just 3.5 minutes! It is obvious that with 2 burners and ability to use a 12-inch cookware on this appliance you can prepare several dishes for 2-3 people simultaneously. But the only drawback of this model is the lack of Piezo ignition system, thus, you should always have a box of matches with you.

DIMENSIONS

This compact model of camping stove with the size of 7.9 х 24.3 х 17 inches is rather portable and can easily fit into a car trunk. Moreover, this appliance weighs only 14.1 pounds so even one person can move it around. All in all, it is a perfect item for camping, transportation, and storage. But don't be misled by its relatively small size. The cooking surface allows you to prepare food for rather a big company. Just place a Dutch Oven on it and enjoy your dishes al fresco.

GasOne GS-3000 Portable Gas Stove with Carrying Case

FUEL TYPE AND COOKING POWER

This lightweight, compact and rather small-sized stove has 9,000 BTUs cooking power, you can use it outdoors or even as the main kitchen oven in the emergency cases (adequate ventilation is required, though). GasOne has a piezo ignition system, no need to buy matches. The appliance works on butane which means you may want to buy some in advance (in case you run out of it unexpectedly).

NUMBER OF BURNERS AND COOKWARE SIZE

GasOne is equipped with only one burner that's why it's cooking area is rather small. You should use 10-inch cookware on this appliance, and it means that the amount of prepared food will be enough for a small company (1-2-3 people). It is a great purchase especially if you're limited in spare space.

DIMENSIONS

GasOne is the most lightweight and compact stove in our review. Its dimensions are as follows: 13.5 x 11.2 x 4.4 inches and its weight is 3.1 pounds. Due to its size and weight, this appliance is perfect for people who like traveling alone. Stansport 212 Outfitter Series Burner Propane Stove

Review of Coleman Camp Propane Grill/Stove PerfectFlow

Coleman Camp Propane Grill/Stove PerfectFlow

Coleman Camp Propane Grill/Stove PerfectFlow

FUEL TYPE AND COOKING POWER

Coleman Camp Propane is an all-in-one solution for campers who'd like to use a grill and a burner at a time. The stove has 20,000 BTUs cooking power and works from propane (the popular fuel sold here and there). The PerfectFlow technology allows users to significantly reduce fuel consumption. It also allows campers to use the stove literally in any weather conditions.

NUMBER OF BURNERS AND COOKWARE SIZE

As mentioned above, this stove has a burner and a grill, the cooking area is not very big because the burner is shifted to the edge. You should use 10-inch cookware on this camping stove - bigger pots won't fit properly. However, the most prominent advantage of this stove is its multifunctionality - you can boil water to make some tea and grill sausages at the same time.

DIMENSIONS

Coleman Camp Propane is considered to be a mid-sized appliance: 7 x 12.3 x 23.9 inches, though it isn't really lightweight - it weighs 14.7 pounds. As to transportation, the stove has a built-in handle for your convenience. You can grab it in hand and bring around on picnics. The last but not least distinguishing feature about this camping stove is the wide windscreen, used as a side table whenever the weather turns windy.
