To keep up with a size like this without making the picture blurry and cringe-worthy, this monitor has a gorgeous cinematic resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels, and it will allow you to see the tiniest details of the image. The aspect ratio of this curved monitor is 21: 9. With it, enjoying the panoramic widescreen view of pictures will become a constant pleasure. This monitor with an ultra-wide field of view plunges into a whole new digital world and provides incredible ease of use.

Type of Matrix

The Dell UltraSharp U3415W monitor is impressive. Its AH-IPS matrix with sufficiently large viewing angles - 172° vertically and 178° horizontally - provides high-quality video playback that even the most critical user will appreciate. Don't Settle for Mediocrity

Before going into some of the more technical details and explaining why that's actually the case, we'd like to begin this review by saying that the LG 34UC80 Curved UltraWide QHD IPS Monitor is a powerhouse of a display and one of the most versatile models on the market.

Of course, since this is a monitor, one of the biggest secrets to its versatility lies in the kind of color reproduction it offers. With over 99% coverage of the sRGB spectrum, this product will easily prove to be a perfect fit for people that work in the graphic design industry, professional photographers, and just about anyone whose job, hobbies, or preferences require or include the need for highly accurate colors.

Now, if you're looking to purchase an ultrawide curved monitor for work but you're not actually a creative type, the model still has you covered with the On-Screen Control and Screen Split. In a nutshell, the former will allow you to have a full control over the most essential and fundamental monitor settings through an incredibly convenient solution that ensures quick and easy access. Whether you're looking to change the volume, increase or decrease the level of brightness, switch between different picture mode presets, or utilize an array of other options, this little piece of software will allow you to do that with just a few clicks of the mouse.

And, speaking of the Screen Split, the program will prove to be simply indispensable when it comes to customizing the layout of the monitor for multitasking purposes. With it, you will be able to resize and display multiple windows at once, using one of the 14 options, and that's not to mention the four different picture-in-picture (PIP) choices. Suffice it to say, anyone from software engineers to all kinds of computer programmers will be able to appreciate the sort of opportunities these options will open up for them.

Ergonomics to Boot

Having said all of that, no computer monitor would deserve the title of a truly versatile model without catering to the gaming demographic. And while we wouldn't be able to say in good faith that this is one of the best gaming monitors out there, mostly due to the fact that this LG ultrawide monitor features a relatively slow response time of 5 ms and a 60 Hz refresh rate, something that won't bother the fans of single-player games but might alienate the multiplayer crowd, this is still a fairly great gaming option for a couple of reasons.

First of all, the model features a variety of gaming modes, from a couple designed for First-Person Shooters to a bunch of RTS and MOBA pre-sets. Furthermore, the monitor supports the AMD FreeSync, and that means anyone with a Radeon graphics card will be able to experience a truly clean and crisp gameplay with no tearing and stuttering.

In terms of ergonomics, this ultrawide FreeSync monitor has a couple of aces up its sleeve as well, like a USB 3.0 Quick Charge behind the display that will allow you to charge your smartphone or any other mobile device four times faster compared to your average USB 3.0. Plus, the model is fairly easy to put together, with a simple press-and-click display-to-base attachment.

In short, the LG 34UC80 is one of the most versatile ultrawide monitors out there. Whether you're looking for a model to improve the efficiency of your work, to enjoy a good movie, or to amplify your gaming experience, the product in question will not disappoint you, to say the least.

I love that they have DisplayPort and two HDMI inputs.

Features(4.6)

Material quality is exceptional. The stand is easy to put together and the monitor clicks in seamlessly. The height and tilt adjustment is smooth.

Work and Play Monitor

At a comfortably large size of 32", the Samsung C32F391 curved monitor offers a few great features which make it an alluring choice for customers who look for something more than a mere Full HD monitor. The C32F391 has 4 ms response time and 60Hz refresh rate, which ensures that the picture on the display doesn't look fuzzy nor causes any ghosting that may spoil your viewing experience. The monitor runs on a VA panel that provides great color reproduction, wide viewing angles, and high contrast ratio. With the maximum luminance of 250 cd/m2 and 5000:1 contrast ratio, the picture on the screen looks clear and vivid, with deep blacks and bright whites, no matter from what angle you look at the monitor. The curvature of the C32F monitor is 1800R and it looks really elegant and steep.

Besides decent technical specifications, the Samsung C32F391 boasts a stylish and attractive design. It is finished in a glossy-white ultra-slim plastic, which makes it look pretty modern and even high-tech. Wherever you set it in your living environment, be sure it will become the focal point of the place. While many of the monitors with slim profiles seem fragile and poorly protected, the Samsung C32F39 curved monitor comes with a heavy-duty base which allows for its secure placement.

Intuitive Controls

Unlike monitors with pushbuttons or touch-sensitive panels, the C32F391 monitor enjoys a handy joystick. By implementing this new feature in this monitor, Samsung engineers made it much more convenient for users to navigate the menu and controls of the monitor without having to click multiple buttons. The joystick is placed on the rear of the monitor and is easy to access. Another feature that greatly contributes to the convenience of use of this monitor is a VESA mount the manufacturer supplies the C32F391 with. Thus, if you need to save some space on your desktop, you can easily hang this screen on a wall using a mounting bracket on the back of the housing.

Mesmerizing Colors

Drawing some bottom line at the end of this review, we'd say the Samsung C32F391 curved monitor has a lot of features and characteristics that keep it hold to the market. It does deliver a broad spectrum of colors and it renders them pretty well, thanks to the Samsung's Active Crystal Color technology which preserves the crispness and clarity of the picture keeping it close to the life-like scene. What could be improved, however, is the density of pixels that are reproduced on the screen. For a 32-inch screen diagonal, 1920 x 1080 might seem simply not enough, especially considering that many people today own smartphones with higher-res displays. Still, if you're a fan of Samsung electronics and you have put your trust in their goods a long time ago, you shouldn't regret buying this Samsung C32F391 curved monitor.

What customers say about this product

Key Specs(4)

The resolution is 1920 x 1080 and the color saturation, including black, which is often a problem, is rich and the picture sharp.

Display(4)

Very good monitors. Bought two for a side by side mounting. Looks terrific and picture colors and contrast is very good. Can't beat this for the price.

Connectivity(4)

Connecting to the computer is via an HDMI or DV cable, not the VGA cable I used previously. I connected via HDMI, plugged in, turned on, and was blown away. The settings did not need to be adjusted, although I did play with them.

Features(4)

If you plan on mounting, it has VESA standard 3" but has a unmovable insert for the stand that requires you to get an extended wall mount, cannot make it work with a normal flat wall mount.

Made Especially For Gamers

Anyone who likes putting together their own gaming systems knows just how picky gamers can be. We just don't settle for anything that is going to provide a sub-par gaming experience, and this is especially true of a monitor. While there are literally thousands of different types of monitors out there, gamers need and want a monitor that is made especially for gaming, as such monitors provide the features and capabilities that help gamers gain an advantage in whatever games they are playing.

ASUS is quite aware of this, and has created the ASUS ROG Strix XG27VQ 27-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor specifically for gamers. This curved screen gaming monitor features a large 27" curved screen with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, ensuring that every small graphical detail is rendered with precision. The monitor also features a refresh rate of 144Hz, ensuring that all input results in instantaneous actions on the screen, something that is missing with monitors with slower refresh rates.

Enhance Your Gameplay

A large number of features are included in this monitor that make it an ideal choice for gamers. For instance, the AMD FreeSync technology ensures that your actions on screen remain instantaneous even if your gaming PC is struggling to keep up with the action, thanks to the Low Framerate Compensation technology. This helps give a huge advantage to gamers who are not running the latest and greatest video card. Also included are the GamePlus and GameVisual technologies which provide a number of in-game enhancements that will give you an advantage in virtually any kind of game. There is even a special MOBA mode that includes color enhancements for letting those who play MOBAs a huge competitive advantage over their opponents. |n short, there is simply no shortage of features on this monitor that cater specifically to gamers, making this model any gamer's obvious choice.

Great Ergonomics

No gaming monitor would be complete without a number of ergonomic features that make the monitor great for long marathon gaming sessions. The monitor includes the ASUS Eye Care technology that automatically adjusts the screen settings to make the image easier on the eyes for long periods of time. The monitor also includes a sturdy stand complete with tilt, swivel, and height adjustments to help you orient the screen just right. And all of that doesn't even mention the ASUS Aura RGB backlighting along with LED light projection on the base, which all combine to make this monitor one of the best gaming monitors around.

What customers say about this product

Display(4.7)

VA panel is nice - its not as nice as IPS, but way better looking than TN.

Features(4.7)

Multi-Monitor looks awesome, Vesa mounting is cool to because the stand is kinda big.

Key Specs(4.8)

Very beautiful monitor, I get 144Hz no problem, no screen tearing, no dead pixels.

Connectivity(4.5)

It flawlessly connected much easier than the previous Asus monitors.

Immersive Experience, Samsung Quality

This curved monitor from Samsung is a middle ground between the high-end gaming monitor and a monitor designed for visual work and entertainment. What we mean by that is, this model will perform both types of tasks at a decent level but being decent for both makes it less than perfect for each. It is still a good all-around device at a very nice price.

The monitor has a VA display panel that combines the 178°(H)/178°(V) viewing angles of an IPS with a response time of 4 ms, which is not exactly as fast as that of a TN panel but is still faster than your regular IPS and thus better suited for gaming. The static contrast is also really high, which is the selling point of VA panels in general and this one monitor's in particular. However, the brightness is not as impressive, the 250 cd/m² is more or less the basic number for a monitor if you play in a dark room. At the same time, with a good ambient light, it is not a problem.

It is a curved monitor, with a 1800R curvature, meaning you will get a more immersive experience as you play a game or watch a movie.

Safe to Use for Hours

This computer monitor does not have USB ports but it does have both a DisplayPort and an HDMI for you to watch videos in the highest quality available, which is Full HD (1920x1080). There is also a headphone jack in the monitor but that's about it.

The model has two important additions for those users who spend a lot of time glued to their monitors for some reason or another, be it work or entertainment. That is, there is an Eye Saver Mode designed to lower the blue light emission so harmful to our eyes. You will appreciate it, especially if your operating system is something other than the Windows 10 or one of the latest Mac OS editions that feature a similar technology built within them already. Besides the Eye Saver Mode, there is also a Flicker-Free technology incorporated in the screen. This one will, as the name suggests, lower the flickering frequency, thus lessening the eye strain even further.

Finally, the Samsung 27" curved monitor has an Eco-Saving Plus feature that will save you some bucks in addition to the model's already quite a pleasant price. However you look at it, it's a nice bargain.

What Is a Curved Monitor?

A monitor is an essential part of any desktop computer, for obvious reasons: without it, you can't watch videos, enjoy computer games, as well as work or read. Now you can find many various models and modifications of these devices differing from each other in design and performance. The most popular today are the so-called curved monitors. As the name suggests, these monitors are exactly that—curved. It is an excellent solution, especially when we talk about large monitors. Having a huge monstrosity for a monitor is really cool for a whole range of reasons but it also means catching every action in the corner is a challenge sometimes. Thanks to the curved matrix, though, the monitor offers a wider field of view than conventional flat monitors do, which allows our eyes to focus faster from the center to the edges of the video, reducing the stress on our eyes. Hence, this type of screen allows you to experience maximum immersion in the video, feel the effect of presence.

If for some reason you decide against the curved shape of such monitors, we recommend you to pay attention to conventional computer monitors and also touchscreen monitors.

What Features to Compare

Screen Features

First of all, pay attention to the screen features. You need to pick a screen size, i.e. a diagonal. In most cases, you are almost right up to the screen, so do not make your choice based on the rule 'the more, the better'. Curved monitors usually have diagonals from 27 to 34 inches. Monitors that have a diagonal from 27 to 29 inches are best suited for use at a distance of 50-80 cm from eyes. As of curved monitors over 29 inches, they are ideally suited for professional use, for example, in design or project development. An important parameter which is also necessary to consider is the screen resolution. This feature characterizes the number of pixels of the display monitor vertically and horizontally. Also, it is responsible for a detailed display of objects on the screen. Curved monitor resolution can be Full HD (1920x1080 pixels) and Ultra HD (3440x1440 pixels). Choosing a monitor with a maximum resolution, you should take into account the power and performance of a video card (or GPU) since it affects image quality. Also, one of the main features of any screen, which impacts the format of image, is the aspect ratio. All monitors have a curved widescreen aspect ratio that varies from 16: 9 to 21: 9, which provides a uniform extension and optimal picture quality.

Type of Matrix

Once you have decided on all the screen features, pay attention to the type of matrix. The curved monitors usually use IPS and MVA / PVA. The advantages of IPS matrices are great viewing angles and a good response time. As for the MVA and PVA, they boast a great depth of black color and excellent contrast. Then, you should consider a refresh rate that affects image quality during fast action movies and games. The higher this rate is, the more stable and the clearer the picture is. A further important aspect is the response time during which the image changes its brightness. Usually, it ranges from 2 to 5 ms. Too long response time will cause blurring of a dynamic image. The important feature of the matrix is a static contrast ratio, which is the ratio of the brightest point of the screen to the darkest. This implies that the contrast is set to the brightness of the image, taking into account the level of black. The standard static contrast ratio is 3000: 1 and higher. An important indicator is also the color support that is responsible for the color scheme. This indicator reaches 1,074 billion on the top models of curved monitors. the last but not least parameter that determines the quality of the matrix is a viewing angle. That is the minimum angle you take your eyes off the monitor when the image on the screen starts losing its contrast and the colors get distorted. In other words, the larger a viewing angle, the better. A good monitor should show 178° both vertically and horizontally.

Connectivity Options

Next, you should consider the connectivity options of every curved monitor. It is necessary to consider what video ports are present in the monitor, as well as their number because it affects the quality of the transmitted signal and image sources you can connect to the monitor at the same time. Let's start with the VGA port. Since it is one of the oldest types of analog connection, its poor side is a poor image transmission. A DVI port is used in almost all models of monitors that provide a good quality of the transmitted video. HDMI port allows you to transfer high-quality video and audio through a single cable. Modern curved monitor must have a DisplayPort, the most progressive of all the ports described above, which provides the most high-quality video and audio transmission. Beyond the usual ports, the monitor might include one or several USB ports. In the most advanced models, you can play media content from external media devices using a USB port. In some models, there is even a USB hub, which is very useful because you do not need to reach directly for PC unit itself.

Additional Features

And the last thing to look for when choosing a curved monitor is its additional features. Now, apart from displaying video, many curved monitors can also play sounds. Usually, speakers are placed inside the lower part of the monitor. The sound output can reach up to 9W per each speaker, which is not bad at all considering their compact size. An interesting feature of the curved monitor is the availability of so-called Picture-by-Picture function, which allows to simultaneously connect two computers to a single monitor and the screen will be divided into two parts. Also, curved monitors can be equipped with a PIP function which is responsible for multitasking. It enables you to watch your favorite movies and videos while working with spreadsheets and office programs. It can be an additional advantage if the monitor includes a flicker-free function. It allows you to work with a text for a long time without serious damage to your eyes. In conclusion, it should be mentioned that some curved ergonomic monitors have VESA mount support, which means they can be attached to a wall. Moreover, they can be equipped with an adjustable stand that allows you to select a comfortable angle and height of the screen.

FAQ:

Q: Why should I choose a curved monitor over a flat one?

A: Let's start with the fact that gently curved screens offer a greater level of immersiveness since their form tend to expand the quantity of screen space in relation to their size. Additionally, the curved screen enhances the sense of depth creating close to a 3D effect viewing experience and offering a wider field of view. Finally, the curve tracks the rounded shape of a human eye better delivering a more focused image on a screen and causing less strain to the eye.

Q: What is the difference between monitors with diverse curves?

A: The curvature is measured in a radius a curve would have made if a monitor had been designed as a complete circle. To specify, the 1800R means that a display is curved with a radius of 1.8 m. This distance is considered to be the optimal one for a user not to feel any discomfort while watching the screen even from the corner of the room. As you may guess, the larger the radius is the bigger the circle will be and vice versa.

Q: There are so many displays with different refresh rates. What is the difference between them?

A: The refresh rate stands for the number of frames a monitor shows per second. Some monitors have a standard 60 Hz refresh rate while others boast refresh rates varying between 75 to 144 Hz. Generally, the higher this rater is the better the visuals in dynamic scenes will be. The refresh rate reduces visual artifacts like ghosting and image tearing. However, the refresh rate itself doesn't inherently improve the image quality in dynamic scenes, as the pixel response time also matters.

Q: What display size and maximum resolution should my monitor have?

A: Larger monitors will make your work easier, especially if you are engaged in photo, graphics and visuals editing. So make sure that a monitor you choose is no smaller than 27". Such monitors are also great for watching movies, and playing games on a large screen immerses you into the action better. When it comes to resolution, monitors with larger resolution render a more crisp and detailed picture. However, these 2 parameters are interdependent and you should consider them both when choosing a monitor. For example, 27" or smaller monitors should have the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, while the monitors with a bigger diagonal should have a higher resolution.

Q: What should I do if there are no preset modes on a monitor that can improve its performance?

A: Generally, all pre-set modes are just made to save a user's time as one can adjust the settings manually and achieve even better results if compared to the pre-set configurations. Just spend some time to adjust it.

Q. What are the benefits of DisplayPort over HDMI?

A: DisplayPort provides higher bandwidth, able to connect multiple monitors to a single video output and are license and royalty-free. DisplayPort also uses a smaller connector or can be combined with other interfaces onto a single common connector.
