Wahl Professional Animal Arco

Trimming Dogs, Horses, Pigs, even Cattle

The Wahl Professional Animal Arco Pet Cordless Clipper Kit is a versatile instrument coming at an above-average price but with multiple features justifying the price. First, the battery here lasts ~80 minutes, about as much as most clippers', but takes ~75 minutes to recharge, whereas most cat clippers usually take around 3 hours. Plus, you receive 2 batteries, so you can use the first one while recharging the second one. In other words, the unit will enable all-day clipping.

Second, besides cat grooming, the model will let you add touch-ups on bridle paths, ears, muzzle, and fetlocks on horses, trim goats, pigs, and cattle, enable light body clipping on small and medium-sized dogs, and more.

Build-wise, the unit's ergonomic profile fits most hands like a glove and reduces wrist fatigue, so you can spend hours cutting, trimming, and clipping without experiencing noticeable discomfort.

Aside from the 2 batteries that we've mentioned above, the package that comes with the clippers includes a soft storage case, charging stand, charger, cleaning brush, blade oil, and a bonus DVD that shares tips on equine grooming. The charging stand does not fit the case, meaning that storage and transportation will not be quite as hassle-free as you'd expect. Nevertheless, this little mishap does not change the Wahl Professional Animal Arco Pet Cordless Clipper Kit's stance among the best animal clippers.

Maxshop Low Noise Rechargeable Cordless

The Quiet One

The Maxshop Low-Noise Rechargeable Cordless Trimming Kit keeps the noise levels somewhere between 30 and 50 decibels, hence the 'low-noise' part in its name. But, as much as we can appreciate practically silent electric tools, this is not the part that sold us on this product. No, that would be its straightforward design.

To start with, the single On/Off switch makes the unit more accessible and eliminates misclicks, while the dial above the switch lets you easily adjust the speed, selecting between 5 speed settings. There's also an LED light below the switch telling you that the unit is or isn't working. Besides its construction, what sells the product is the 4 guide combs that follow pets' natural contours and enable safe and comfortable clipping and trimming.

Of course, when you keep the price below 30 bucks, certain compromises are inevitable. To name one, the scissors that come with the clippers are not great. To name two, the battery takes at least 4 hours to recharge, sometimes even 5, even though its runtime caps at 70 minutes, same as most cat clippers

Still, taking into account the price, this is an excellent product that most people with pets can benefit from. The attachments will last and so will the clippers.

Ceenwes Rechargeable

Pet Grooming Made Affordable

The Ceenwes Rechargeable Low-Noise Pet Clippers make the same low-noise claim that the previous product's making. To some extent, we can see where the claim comes from, but this unit is not quite as quiet as the preceding model, sometimes reaching as high as 60 decibels, so we cannot necessarily confirm this claim.

We can confirm that the clippers adopt a comparable design, incorporating an easily adjustable dial with five speed settings, an On/Off switch below the dial, and an LED indicator below the switch. The housing on this one looks more attractive than you'd expect from its budget disposition, except that it is very good at dissipating heat, so the tool's body will get hot during prolonged use. The titanium acute-angle blade will not get hot though and nor will the ceramic movable blade, enabling smooth and efficient trimming without making the pet uncomfortable.

Apart from trimming, because the package also includes a nail clipper kit and a nail file, you'll be able to clip cats' and dogs' nails and save even more money long-term on pet grooming.

In short, with the Ceenwes Rechargeable Low-Noise Pet Clippers, you can make sure your best friend is always looking good, all without you paying professionals a considerable amount of money for pet grooming.

Bonve BP-1018

6 Guide Combs

The Bonve BP-1018 is an upgraded kit. This time, you receive not 4 but 6 guide combs, including 0.1", 0.23", 0.35", 0.47", 0.6", and 0.7". These thinning-out combs are not as hostile towards the skin as they usually are and, furthermore, are excellent at contouring the pet's curves, so you can groom without worrying about safety and efficiency.

Where things get a little hairy is with the instructions. To be frank, they're pretty much worthless. On the upside, the acute-angle blade, the one that's built from titanium, will work without jamming or tugging, while the movable ceramic one is great at heat dissipation, preventing the body from overheating.

Operation-wise, the unit prevents the noise levels from reaching 50 decibels and produces almost no vibrations at all, so the clippers will not cause noticeable discomfort, not to you, not to the pet. What's interesting is that the people behind this product are claiming that the clippers can stretch the runtime almost 10 hours. We're not sure about that but the charge will last, we can tell you that much.

Bottom line, the Bonve BP-1018 is a pretty huge improvement compared to its predecessor and, with the USB port that lets you recharge this tool from any USB-enabled device, is a model to beat in its price range.

Sminiker Cordless Low Noise

R-Shaped Edge

The Sminiker Cordless Low-Noise Cat and Dog Clippers is an attractive package from multiple perspectives. To get the ball rolling, the integrated battery inside the unit goes from 0 to 100% in 2-3 hours, about as fast as most mid-range clippers except that, when fully recharged, the battery will give you at least 6-8 hours before giving out. To add more, the R-shaped edge will prevent you from accidentally cutting the pet's gentle skin.

The titanium acute-angle blade and the movable ceramic blade will remain sharp without frequent maintenance, which's great but we cannot say that the product makes maintenance entirely hassle-free. The guilty party here is the plastic guides. Collecting hairs, these guides force you to clean them pretty often. Otherwise, the combs become less efficient.

The good news is that the same combs are leveled, ensuring even trimming. The second good news piece is the sizable storage bag that easily fits the clippers and every single accessory that comes with them so that you can bring them with you on the road. Plus, the bag even features a comfortable handle, enabling easy transportation.

To sum up, the Sminiker Cordless Low-Noise Cat and Dog Clippers will enable pretty much hassle-free pet grooming anywhere you go.

What Are Clippers for Cats?

Pet grooming is expensive. To some extent, this is the case because pets are a luxury, not a necessity (though we can make an opposite argument). To some extent, because most people do not have the tools to groom pets themselves and assume that these tools are not cheap. Well, they're not cheap, sure, but also not as budget-hostile as one might presume. Take these clippers for cats, for example.

Sure, there are kits that cost above 150 bucks but there are also kits that you can buy for less than 30 bucks and they're not much worse than their high-end competition. With them, you can usually groom most cats and dogs. They always include multiple guide combs, accommodating different pets with different coat thickness. Besides the clippers that incorporate multiple speed settings and different blades (usually acute-angle and movable), these kits also include lots of useful accessories like a cleaning brush, scissors, comb, oil, maybe even a carry bag/case that lets you store and transport these accessories together with the clippers.

Even though they usually fit dogs too, the cat fur trimmers that we're discussing here are seldom as effective and comfortable in this regard as these dog hair clippers, so you can consider them as well. To complete your dog grooming kit, there are also these dog toothbrushes.
