What customers say about "Key Specs"
Sony STRDH550 4K AV Receiver
  • Definitely filled my requirement for a somewhat flexible theater multi-channel (5.2) amplifier with 2 optical outputs.
  • It supports the channels we need and the projector sounds great on it.
  • We are happy with our 5.2 channel Sony receiver. It adds a really good sound to our surround system for maximum output for what we need!!
  • This receiver has 725 watts (90 per channel, which is alot more than most receivers including high end receivers).
  • No issues with cranking up to higher volumes, and no distortion at higher volumes.
Yamaha RX-V377 5.1-Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver
  • 100w a channel (5 channel) got a handful of HDMI connections and AV connections with some Optical in's and various other inputs and outputs i have been nothing but impressed with it.
  • The bass output is pretty good too for such a small unit, and even at this price it has discrete amplification on all channels which is great.
  • A high watts per channel rating was so important, as each of our main front speakers has a powered sub built in, and the separate sub is powered as well.
  • In my opinion, this would a very good entry-level receiver for a small room and smaller speakers.
  • My only complaint is that the radio tuner seems an afterthought. It cannot drag in weak FM stations, at all.

What customers say about "Features"
Sony STRDH550 4K AV Receiver
  • Easy to hook up so we could listen to radio thru stereo.
  • Receiver works well for radio, CD player, TV with relative ease in set up and connections.
  • The system itself, sounds great, runs well, and is fast responsiveness.
  • Simple setup from the minute you connect it. No major programming required.
  • Do not like that it has to be hooked up to a TV in order to program radio stations.
  • I only wish it were easier to set up FM presets — it assumes you've got a video monitor attached..
Yamaha RX-V377 5.1-Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver
  • The plethora of different presets and decoders is great, and I love that I have full control of all tone and individual speaker levels through the menus.
  • Yamaha has incorporated an ingenious feature into this product called YPAO, whereby you place a small supplied microphone where you will normally sit.
  • There are different sound features for audio and video and the sound is excellent.
  • In fact, it doesn't even acknowledge a channel at the frequency of my favorite radio station, which has a fairly weak signal where I live.
  • It does not do anything with frequency response and crossover to the sub. Nor does it do anything to bring the center channel forward enough for viewing movies.

What customers say about "Connectivity"
Sony STRDH550 4K AV Receiver
  • I used this to run sound to a multi-room speaker set up. It was easy to get up and running and the sound is excellent.
  • Picked this one because it has lots of inputs for dvd,cd, etc. And is affordable.
  • This receiver has every input I needed and the price was excellent. Plenty of options with room to grow.
  • Receiver has tons of HDMI inputs and outputs. Created many sound options.
  • Inputs and outputs are well marked and unlike my previous AV unit this one will support a subwoofer in addition to the other groups of speakers.
  • Here's the issue I ran into. Two of the video inputs also share HDMI inputs. There seems to be no way to discern the signal from one or the other. The receiver doesn't let you change the input names or reassign the sound side.
Yamaha RX-V377 5.1-Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver
  • Has more than enough inputs for all sorts of media, stereo components, cable, gaming system and TV.
  • Yamaha has a 3.5mm audio input on the front of the receiver. With this input, you can easily connect a phone, tablet, or laptop to the receiver and listen to it over your stereo.
  • It has a front USB input for connecting a thumb drive or iPhone/iPad, and an optional Bluetooth adapter is available.
  • It also connects to my PC through HDMI and runs all 5.1 channels. The YPAO feature made configuring the speakers a snap!
  • I just wish there were low-level outputs for rear-channel surround electronics. I'm using a Polk wireless rear speaker, and needed to run speaker wires to its transmitter.
