What customers say about "Key Specs"
Yamaha JR1 3/4-Scale Acoustic Guitar
  • This is a great first guitar for little kids. The size is perfect for my daughter, who is eight years old.
  • Sounds great too for a laminate top, and even after changing the strings to extra light.
  • Very easy to chord and frets are perfect for the smaller fingers. You will not be disappointed with this expenditure. Golden!
  • I bought this guitar for my 8 yr. old grand daughter and it was the perfect size. I enjoy playing it as well.
  • I bought this guitar for my grand daughter who is 9 years old. I know that I shouldn't expect much from an entry level 3/4 size guitar but was very disappointed with the sound. The guitar sounds like a Uke or cheap Carnival Prize guitar.
Yamaha JR2 3/4 Size Guitar
  • Tone is obviously not going to sound like a full size, but this guitar sounds pretty good compared to other 3/4 scale guitars...especially considering the lower price point.
  • Great for smaller hands or kids. I can definitely change chords faster on this because you have less space to cover.
  • A nice 3/4 guitar we purchased for our nine year old daughter. It's a quality piece with great sound for a 3/4 size. It came with good strings, tuned up well, and holds its tune as expected.
  • I'm not complaining about the quality of this guitar but the item description. This is NOT a 3/4 size, it's actually 1/2. Checked measurement too, it's 33 in. I asked for replacement and still got exactly the same thing, didn't even bother to open the box.
  • This is NOT a 3/4 size guitar like it says. It is a 1/2 size guitar. For those that want a 1/2 size guitar it is a really nice guitar but too small for my daughter.

What customers say about "Size & Weight"
Yamaha JR1 3/4-Scale Acoustic Guitar
  • For what it's does, it's just about perfect. Built like a tank and to my ear sounds better than more expensive small guitars.
  • It is well made, stays in tune, and has a pretty good sound considering the size.
  • If your looking for a Small guitar that's fun to play stay's in tune and sounds good then BUY THIS GUITAR!! its the perfect size to take along with you or to just noodle on at home.
  • It was very small size i would like to return it.
  • Much smaller then expected. More for a small child 6 or 7.
Yamaha JR2 3/4 Size Guitar
  • Size and portability. This thing is super fun to pick up and play. It's so compact that you can play it anywhere. If you've ever wanted to play the guitar on the toilet, congratulations!
  • Excellent guitar for child and adult alike - awesome for travel due to size and weight
  • I especially like how the size is reduced enough for a kid, but still very playable for an adult.
  • Purchased this Guitar for my daughter who is 9 and just starting out. The size is perfect for her hands.
  • Size. This is probably the smallest 3/4 scale guitar. In fact, it's definitely less than 3/4 scale. I actually didn't realize how small it was until I got it home and sat it next to my full size Yamaha.

What customers say about "Materials"
Yamaha JR1 3/4-Scale Acoustic Guitar
  • The finish on the top was very good, Yamaha uses a lower quality rosewood for the finger board.
  • The frets are finished nicely and the nut is cut and set well.
  • The wood of the body and neck show no irregularities or signs of poor workmanship. At first glance, it has all the appearances of a well made product.
  • Well made for the price. It benefits from a little light oil on the tuning machines and a bit of linseed oil on the fingerboard and bridge. It sounds brighter and louder than you might imagine.
Yamaha JR2 3/4 Size Guitar
  • Nice look. I love the color. The tobacco color is a little darker than in the stock pic. I have posted my own pics below.
  • Quite diminutive, the 21 scale is fast and easy and the natural tone woods used in the body deliver surprising volume and resonance.
  • Seems very well-made. Nice tuners--they don't feel cheap.
  • The tone is good and the guitar stays in tune. It feels well-made in the hands.
  • Guitar had a strong, toxic smell from glues or wood conditioners. I couldn't play it for more than 5 minutes without getting a headache, so I returned it.

What customers say about "Features"
Yamaha JR1 3/4-Scale Acoustic Guitar
  • The long pocket on the bag that goes from the head of the guitar down the neck also has some nice depth to it which allows you to place bulkier things like the strap, tuner, etc.
  • The bag has nice quality zippers and has backpack style straps that can be removed. Overall the bag is a great addition to this set and is a great quality bag.
  • The other accessories that come with the set are good and solid. Nothing special but nothing I would consider out right junk. The tuner works well when clipped to the head stock, the strap is nice enough and the picks are a nice touch.
  • The bridge plate underneath the top is a splintered mess. Because of this, be careful when changing your strings. Make sure the ball at end of your strings is sitting properly, otherwise it will not keep its tune.
Yamaha JR2 3/4 Size Guitar
  • Stays in tune. These smaller guitars have a harder time staying in tune.
  • Nice gig bag thrown in. Won't give much protection but at least it's covered. Also has multiple pockets.
  • Adjustable Truss Rod and Guitar Strap buttons.
  • This is an excellent little guitar. It is well made and sounds pretty good for it's size. The tuners work well; they're snug and turn smoothly.
  • Fret Space. If you want to capo at the 4th fret and up, you might have to change the way you play some chords to make all your fingers fit. The fret space gets pretty tight as you go up.
