About the Product
The popular MXL 770 is a high quality multipurpose condenser mic that vocalists gravitate to for its solid low frequency response and clear high end. To achieve this MXL uses a high-quality FET pre-amp and transformerless balanced output for wide dynamic range and low noise. Features include a low frequency roll-off to reduce unwanted rumbling and a 10db pad to facilitate a wide variety of sound sources.
The MXL 990 Blizzard is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone that captures sweet, silky high ends, tight lows and midrange, and has two glowing blue LED lights in the mic grille. With a clean white body, the MXL 990 stands out under the glow of its LED lights during recording, and it captures a remarkably clear sound whether it's in a professional recording studio or an at-home gaming setup.

What customers say about "Key Specs"
MXL 770 Cardioid Condenser Microphone
  • Excellent sound quality. Fairly low noise floor.
  • Number one feature for me - low frequency roll off - this mic has it. So I took a chance. It paid off. I'm no recording engineer, but ME running my own EQ for my own particular voice, I get better results with this mic than an experienced engineer with a $3200.00 Neumann mic.
  • To me the mic sounds warm and dark before adding anything, of course everybody's ear is different so that's subjective.
  • These are superb mics for the money. I use them for live streaming and the audio is crystal clear. They also have a low frequency cut switch to minimize plosives.
  • Maybe I'm not getting something but this guy has a really small range between too quiet and too noisy. If you move more than a foot away you're quiet, if you move closer than 6 inches its nothing but snap crackle pop.
  • LOTS of feed back ! VERY sensitive with ANY sounds, air. It will pick up a pin drop. Perfect for studio not so much un controlled settings
MXL 990 Blizzard Limited Edition Condenser Microphone
  • It is not the best solution for micing instruments or amps, especially those in the lower registers. One of the main reasons for this is the low end frequency response is starts at 30Hz.
  • This Mic sounds great. Really rich tone, I feel like an NPR radio host with that nice bassy undertone.
  • This is such a great microphone. I record things and my friends ask me how I get such a great a clean sound and they're amazed when I tell them it's my mxl 990. It picks up all the highs and lows you could want and is very clear and crisp.
  • It sounds incredible, and at this price it's unbeatable. I only use three mics, and this is my main vocal, drum overhead, and acoustic guitar mic (although I use two mics on the guitar).
  • The high mids in this mic can make your vocals sound unnatural. Especially when applying a high pass filter. It has a great bass sound but not much more to offer after that, especially for "harsh" vocals in music. It is nice for beginners though.
  • Ive had this mic for some time now and it just plain works. I wouldn't call it a good studio mic but for general usage (dj or some vocals) it does it job.
  • I agree with other reviews that state that the sound is a bit muddy, but that's easily corrected with EQ. It's a good beginner mic, just remember to buy a pop filter for it.

What customers say about "Features"
MXL 770 Cardioid Condenser Microphone
  • Sturdy construction. Includes vibration mount & case.
  • The MXL 770 is a Cardioid condenser mic that needs phantom power. The frequency response is 30hz to 20kHz and has an impedance of 150 ohms. The mic has a switch for bass cut and -10db. It comes with a shock mount and carrying case.
  • MXL makes great microphones for many different uses. I like the 770 for acoustic guitars, vocals and drum overheads. It's also great for other instruments and broadcasting too.
  • The MXL 770 works great when used with my other mics that are priced higher then it. The 770 blends well or works nice solo.
  • Shock mount is incredibly flimsy. Fell apart after 3 months, despite never really needing to adjust my mic. Replacements for a mic this size are ridiculously overpriced.
  • Don't ever use the shock mount coming along. Very cheap made. It's gonna scratch your mic when you put it in.
  • Good quality, but can’t get rid of hiss or hum, could be related to my phantom power.
MXL 990 Blizzard Limited Edition Condenser Microphone
  • This is an extraordinarily beautiful microphone! Sounds just as good as it looks! Grab one while this edition is still around.
  • Shock mount does what it's supposed to do.
  • This is an unbelievable value. Very well built. High quality materials. This does not feel like a cheap mic despite the great cost. Plus it comes with a great hard case with foam padding.
  • Tremendous mic!! love the case and shockmount being all inclusive.love recording my mom and musical friends and they dig singing into a quality mic.
  • Cheap components that dont look like they will last longer than a few years, but MXL sells more expensive mics if you want a better sound.
  • A bit muddy on the sound.
  • I can't believe the sound from this cheap guy. I'm a podcaster/vlogger, and I'm very impressed. However, there is a construction issue. The cable needs to be wiggled at times to keep working.
