Improved Listening Experience

Some people refer to the Sennheiser company as the king of headphones. And while we're not necessarily willing to go there, we can certainly see their point. There are other companies out there that can duplicate their level of quality and others that occupy the same price segment. But very few will give you the same quality for the same price as Sennheiser.

Now, we're not saying that Sennheiser RS 175 are cheap. But we'd say that the price is right given what you get in return. What we have here is a pair of wireless headphones. But unlike most cordless headphones, the sound quality here could rival even some of the more expensive wired headphones.

We particularly liked the addition of Bass Boost and the Surround Sound listening modes. These modes provide some extra low-frequency power and improved soundstage that enhances the overall TV listening experience.

Ergonomically Sound

In terms of design, the model in question is the closed-back, around-ear type of headphones. They're as comfortable as the next closed headphones to wear. And, as it usually is the case, the product is exceptionally good at reducing ambient noise. This way, you will be able to disregard the environment, be it noisy neighbors or your roommate playing Call of Duty in the next room, and immerse yourself in the entertainment.

Having said all of that, we would say that the best part about this device is its effective range. Capable of extending up to 328 feet, the model puts the "wireless" into the "wireless headphones". Some might say that this sort of range is unnecessary. But we would retort that argument by saying that there's no such thing as too high of a signal range and you could always find some use for it.

Among other things, this range makes the device perfect not just for watching TV in bed but also roaming around the house without losing the audio signal.

Convenient Control Panel

Of course, these headphones for TV aren't without their flaws. If we had to point out one, that would have to be the 18-hour battery life. It's not that much of a difference compared to your standard ~20 hours of battery life but we expected a bit more from Sennheiser.

By the way, the aforementioned listening modes, along with the ability to add or subtract volume, can be accessed via the convenient control panel located on one of the ears. As per usual, the model comes with a transmitter that acts both as a charging and docking station. And, to no one's surprise, this is a multi-receiver transmitter, meaning that it will allow you to connect 2 pairs of headphones at the same time.

All in all, these headphones for TV from Sennheiser will prove to be a perfect addition to your home entertainment system. The outstanding sound quality and the ergonomically sound design should be enough to satisfy even the most demanding audiophiles.

What customers say about this product

Size & Weight(4)

They're comfortable. A little heavy, batteries and all that, but I don't mind the weight.

Features(4.6)

Great for late night listening or living with sensitive types with control issues who demand quiet media volume.

Power(4.8)

Lastly, good battery life. I just played for over 6 hours last night and they were still charged. Highly recommended.

Sleek yet Unassuming

The Sony RF995RK are big-time headphones. We dig these things' sleek yet simple and unassuming profile. The matte plastic build is surprisingly sturdy. The oval earcups are large and, for the most part, really comfortable.

The earpads are somewhat stiff though. Sure, the padding's an inch thick, meaning that there should be enough cushioning there, but the foam's pretty basic and relatively firm, so we wouldn't necessarily laud the product's comfort department.

We will, however, praise the headphones' connectivity and functionality aspects. The people behind this product peg the connection range at ~150 feet and we haven't been able to confirm the contrary. More importantly, these wireless headphones for TV rarely cope well with thick concrete walls but these things handle them with ease.

More Oomph than You'd Expect

The controls are inconsistent. The Voice Effect switch makes the sound somewhat thin. The auto-tuning tech works surprisingly well adjusting the sound based on the input though.

These critiques don't necessarily go in line with our earlier statement suggesting that these are big-time headphones. That's where the sound quality comes in. Needless to say, sound quality is easily the most important aspect when it comes to headphones and this is where these things do not disappoint in the slightest.

The 'phones sensitivity reaches 100 dB, while the impedance caps at 32, pretty impressive numbers as far as mid-range headphones are concerned. These things provide much more oomph than you'd expect, keeping the sound robust yet surprisingly detailed at the same time. The 40-mm (1.57-inch) drivers work wonders clearly reproducing everything from thunderous blasts to soft whispers. The sound feels spacious and deep, with bright tones and magnetic output.

Voice Mode

Setting the sound aside, there's not much separating these headphones from its mid-range peers. The 20-hour battery life is pretty good but nothing we haven't seen before. The 'phones are pretty good at reducing ambient noise though.

Right, there's also the Voice mode. Though sometimes gimmicky, the mode will make dialogues much easier to recognize in those movies where the sound effects are too loud compared to the actors' lines.

Long story short, the Sony RF995RK come at the most reasonable price considering the sound quality that punches way above its weight. The bass has an outstanding impact and decent extension. The connection's unusually stable even compared to Sony headphones.

Second Headphones are Welcome

The Avantree HT5009 are budget headphones with mid-range performance. First things first, these things sound pretty good. Sure, you can't expect the same crispness and clarity from these headphones that you get from $300+ 'phones but, again, considering the price, the product does not disappoint on this front.

Besides, it's not really the performance that sells these headphones but the overall package. For starters, the Bluetooth transmitter comes fitted with an auxiliary, optical, and RCA ports, meaning that you'll be able to connect any device to the transmitter. And you probably will want to connect a second pair of headphones to this transmitter because the company's Dual-Link tech lets you connect and use two devices at the same time.

Plus, you won't need any tech knowledge to set everything up. You turn on the transmitter, then the headphones, the latter will automatically connect to the former, so you won't even have to pair them. The transmitter's range will let you walk away from the setup 160 feet and still have the headphones blasting the sound through doors and windows like you're right there next to the source.

Latency Reduced

Again, the transmitter sells these headphones as much as the 'phones themselves. There's an LED indicator that lights up when the headphones are paired with the station. You can hold the Voice button for seven seconds to activate and utilize voice commands.

Other than that, these headphones support two high-quality codecs that are usually reserved for higher-end wireless 'phones – aptX HD and aptX Low Latency. These codecs make sure that the latency is kept to an absolute minimum. Reducing audio delay to <40 ms, these headphones sync the sound with the on-screen action, ensuring basically zero lip-sync delay.

Bypass Mode

The Avantree HT5009 incorporate pass-through support via the Bypass mode. Again, normally reserved for high-end wireless headphones for TV, the mode enables the headphones and any wired speaker to be used at the same time.

As you would imagine, the feature will prove especially useful for families where some family members suffer from hearing loss. That person will be able to use the headphones and watch the movie/series/whatever with everyone, while everyone else can listen to the soundbar without cranking up the volume.

In closing, to repeat the point we've made earlier, the Avantree HT5009 are affordable headphones that noticeably outclass the product's competition within its price bracket. These things are much more practical and functional than anything you can buy for less than $100.

Upscale Sound Quality

Looking for high quality headphones for your home TV? The Ansten wireless set may be one of your best picks. Upscale audio, wide compatibility, and easy charging are only some of its advantages.

To start with, these headphones feature the integrated independent audio decoder chip that’s DSP enhanced. This means much better audio effects for films or concert halls. Enjoy the excellent and clear sound with the top tier stereo separation. You’re free to switch between the Musical/Movie/Normal modes for an even better listening experience.

Is your TV compatible? Most probably, yes, as these headphones go along with any TV that has an Optical/RCA/AUX sound output. If you’d like to make them wired, there’s the standard 3.5 mm connection. Practical and customer-centric, this headset can be used just how you want it. Note, however, that the battery life is relatively short if you’re planning to use it wirelessly.

How long does it take to charge this set? Around 3 hours via the stand or USB adapter for the wall outlet; you’re not allowed to plug it into your devices directly for a power-up.

Always in Sync

The Ansten doesn’t go out of sync and spoil your experience. No delays and an up to 197 ft. range make this headset highly practical and enjoyable. Need to fetch drinks from the kitchen while a match unfolds? Don’t miss a beat with these headphones and tune right back in without delay.

What makes this headset really comfy are the light weight and flexible headband. Put them on – and forget they’re even there when you’re binge-watching the new series. This headset is also excellent for gamers and doesn’t feel tight on your head. The only time it could be tight is when you’re wearing the glasses.

Finally, these headphones are compact and portable. Take them with you to a friend’s house, a seaside hotel room, or just about anywhere else. Be absolutely sure that they will serve you well at home or on the go. After all, who wouldn’t want the crystal clear TV sound instead of the dubious built-in speakers?

To sum up, the Ansten wireless headphones are a perfect fit for music lovers and TV viewers. Widely compatible and delivering quality sound, they’ll make a great purchase – or a nice practical gift.

Soft yet Robust

The Avantree HT4189 are in an interesting position, not quite reaching that mid-range group price-wise but, costing almost $100, also not belonging with budget headphones. But, without looking at the price tag, there's not much separating these TV headphones and most mid-range models.

You usually want them offering the standard 20 Hz - 20 kHz frequency response range and these ones do not disappoint, bringing transcience and rumble that increase the audio's impact and make you feel these frequencies through the body. Then, you're offered the 40-mm (1.57-inch) drivers covering the entire audio range, from lows producing soft whispers to highs soaring with thunderous blasts and almost deafening shots. To make sure you can enjoy the audio feast without worrying about the headphones, this device raises its impedance, measuring 32 ohms and protecting the 'phones from overloading blowouts.

While the sound quality is what primarily defines headphones, TV models are a little different. Not saying that they can compromise that aspect, not quite, but the headphones have to be equally comfortable since you'll be normally wearing them a few hours daily. To this end, the 'phones from Avantree are adopting soft earpads, pleasant to the touch and easy on the skin, cushioning and hugging the ears but without suffocating them. Working towards the same goal is the adjustable headband, enabling customized fits so that different people can spend hours wearing these headphones without experiencing any unpleasant sensations.

40 Hours Straight

TV headphones are always wireless headphones, which means that battery life takes priority. That being said, when we're talking about Avantree headphones, we know that the product will not disappoint. In this case, "not disappointing" means lasting between 30 and 40 hours, depending on the settings, which is no small feat considering that even more expensive headphones from brands like Sony and Sennheiser usually cap at 20 hours tops.

Sure, the effective range is not that great, stretching no more than 100 feet, but who can say without exaggerating that they need more than that? Most people can say that they want wireless headphones without noticeable delay and, preventing the latency from going above 40 ms, this model will heed those people's call.

Without talking about its immediate pairing and that the Bluetooth base supports 2 headphones simultaneously, the Avantree HT4189 makes a more compelling case than almost all headphones for TV under $100.

What Are Headphones for TV?

Wireless headphones for TV are the device to transmit the sound from your TV directly to your ears without any cables. Watching your favorite TV-shows and movies has never been so comfortable! The quality of sound these headphones offer is equal to the cabled ones, so if you don't have a special stereo receiver, the sound in the headphones will be even better than the TV speaker can offer! The wireless transmitter provides an excellent effective range without creating clutter for other devices. The signal easily penetrates thick walls without quality losses.

Sure, more often than not, wireless headphones suffer from lip-sync delay. But the headphones we've added to this list keep the latency so low that you won't be able to tell the difference between these Bluetooth headphones and wired models.

A perfect image is also very important. In order to get better user experience we suggest you pay attention to our best 3D TV and smart TVs review. Or maybe you want to maximize your impressions and dive into the movie with help of the home theater projector? Either way, high-quality headphones will make a huge difference!

What Features to Compare

Specifications

The TV headphones are no different from the ordinary headphones when it comes to the specs. The frequency response is still the key element which defines the sound quality. The wider this range is the better and deeper sound you'll get. It's that simple. The common spec for frequency range is 20 Hz - 20 kHz. You won't be shocked by the sounding of such headphones, but it won't astonish you as well. If you want to get extremely cool bass sound, try looking for the device with a lower first number in the frequency response.

Battery Life

Wireless headphones run on battery power, so it is rather important to check their battery life. Common accumulator batteries run from 10 to 30 hours, and this is quite a wide range. The wireless transmitter can also run on batteries, but its operation time is always longer than the headphones have. Some models offer an opportunity to connect headphones to the USB connector and charge it while using. This option allows using the headphones regardless of the batteries.

Additional Functions

The TV headphones serve to provide comfort while you are watching movies or listening to the music. This is why various additional features and options are rather important for this type of headphones. Special control buttons on the earpieces, radio frequency presets, smart mute, effective range and other useful options should be considered on the same basis as specifications and battery life.
