What customers say about "Key Specs"
Husqvarna 460 Rancher Chain Saw
  • The 24 inch bar is huge. This covers even largs logs. The saw has by far enrough power to handle this bar length. It's a beast!
  • The saw comes with a low vib chain, low profile teeth. This is made for a good reson to reduce the kick back effect.
  • The standard chain is the H46 chain with 84 links, 0.05 gauge, 3/8th pitch. This is a low vib chain.
  • Love its cutting ability and power but kick back brake release spring is way too tight and keeps brake engaged even with handle pulled back, causes overheating and wear top brake and clutch flywheel.
  • Would have given it a 5 but the brake design is stupid .
Husqvarna 455 Gas-Powered Chain Saw (965030298)
  • There is ample power. And even "big" logs like 18" diameter live Oak, this saw buzzed right through. I pretty much had no problem ripping through any length up to the full 20" bar length.
  • With the 20" bar I can cut close to the ground without putting much strain on my back. The engine makes plenty of power and the saw loves to cut wood.
  • The chain brake works as it should, I hit it with my hand or something and it engaged at one point locking the chain in place. I simply unlocked it and it continued cutting.
  • Today, it starts, runs, but the moment the chain touches wood, it dies as if the chain brake was engaged. All user serviceable functions are in spec as per the manual, but it won't cut anything now. I am very disappointed.

What customers say about "Size & Weight"
Husqvarna 460 Rancher Chain Saw
  • Perfect size and weight for a large chainsaw.
  • It is amazingly light for such a big saw.
  • It is substantially heavier and larger than my smaller Ryobi.
Husqvarna 455 Gas-Powered Chain Saw (965030298)
  • It does have some weight but I am not going to be up in trees with it so not an issue.
  • I love this saw! It is the perfect size, not to small and not to heavy.
  • This is a heavier saw..
  • The only complaint I'd have would be size and bulk, but this is a serious chainsaw and I feel that's expected for the performance you get.

What customers say about "Features"
Husqvarna 460 Rancher Chain Saw
  • Extremely reliable (starts easy, starts every time).
  • All the power you need to cut the hardest of hardwoods, and yet it does it with way less vibration, kickback, etc. than my old Ryobi.
  • Safety controls on this saw work flawlessly, are intuitively positioned, and are designed to account for common human errors.
  • The vib damping on this saw is better as on our Jonsered (38 cc) and McCulloch (38 cc). As I have been told its the damping of the pro saws.
  • I have multiple 460 rancher's I had to modify this one because the chain break was not mounted properly so I kept walking out the store was in use ordered new parts of venturing I just had to disable the chain break in order to use the saw.
  • Cuts great at first but chain guard nuts were lost immediately as you cannot tighten them enough to stay on w/o lock washers.
Husqvarna 455 Gas-Powered Chain Saw (965030298)
  • It seems to me that the Husqvarna is easier to start, has fewer problems and is less expensive than the Stihl.
  • Easy starting, cold, hot or in between.
  • Easy manual chain adjust and sensitive chain brake.
  • Everything on the saw seems to function as it should, the oiler at the medium setting seems perfect, the chain tensioner is easy to use and works good.
  • This and other husqvarna saws have flawed design of oiling system.oil pump sits on top of intake tube, output tube is held in place by cover plate.if rubber dries out or cover plate heats up this allows air into pump or leak on output side.
  • Another issue is oil tank vent ,that sits under cover metal plate ,on dependent side of tank-easy to clog with sawdust/oil mixture. This accounts for poor oiling of chain/bar.

What customers say about "Power"
Husqvarna 460 Rancher Chain Saw
  • This has by far enough power to cut. When you know consumer saws and compare with this you will understand. Its a beast in the forest. When ever you cut, you will make it. The engine has 3.62 HP which is more than sufficient for the Rancher.
  • Good power--just cut up a 75 foot Oak with it.
  • Easy to start easy to operate but does have a ton of power.
  • It is powerful enough to cut into a log full bar length.
  • The power is wonderful for tackling the stack of oaks I have to cut up. Winter ready now.
Husqvarna 455 Gas-Powered Chain Saw (965030298)
  • This saw has more than enough power for almost any tree that you will cut.
  • It's about average on fuel efficiency expect something like an hour (if cutting the whole time) for a full tank of fuel.
  • The first tank of gas lasted 30 minutes, in that time I cut Cottonwood, Maple, Hackberry, and Black Walnut logs from 12" to 30" in diameter using a combination of cross cut and rip cuts.
  • It has lots of power and torque. the first tree I cut was a 20" diameter red oak. The saw was awesome.
  • I've had my 455 Rancher for close to two years. It's extremely bitchy about the fuel mixture and will quit in a heartbeat if the mix isn't fresh gas from the tank and mixed with the oil right before filling it with the mix.
