PROS

The double PU coating on this waterproof material will keep the cover looking as good as new and prevent water from soaking through it.

CONS

The fabric is quite heavy and won't be easy to stretch over the vessel on your own.

OUR VERDICT

Available in a variety of sizes, the MSC canvas will keep all kinds of boats safe from the rain and wind. The cover fits snugly over the hull but leaves enough room for air circulation to prevent mildew. It is, however, pretty heavy so you'll need your crew on deck! Still, no bad weather will get through this canvas!

PROS

The cover is reinforced at the seams and ends so it won't be torn or ripped off of the boat by strong wind.

CONS

The plastic buckles are a bit delicate and should be done up carefully.

OUR VERDICT

The Leader Accessories canvas is a great choice for boat transportation as the light-refracting strips make the vessel noticeable even at night to prevent accidents. Its buckles, however, are a bit too delicate to resist strong winds so try to keep the covered boat indoors. The cover can be left on for long periods of time thanks to air circulation vents so it's also a fine pick for winter storage.

PROS

The tent has interlocking double stitches made of marine-grade thread, reinforcing the canvas and increasing durability.

CONS

OUR VERDICT

The Seamander canvas doesn't seem as stretchy as others but it makes up for that with great damage resistance. The 12 adjustable straps are sure to keep the cover tight on the vessel and the double PU coating will make water roll right off of the boat. Great choice if you have to store your ship out in the open.

PROS

In addition to the 8 standard straps, the kit includes a 59-feet long belt for extra fixation, perfect for transportation.

CONS

Water might pool in some areas after particularly heavy rain.

OUR VERDICT

An affordable and pretty reliable cover that comes with an extra belt. If your vessel can't be held in place with this 59-feet strap, it won't be restrained by anything. Besides, the cover itself is made of woven polyester, completely waterproof and safe to use even in downpours. Sadly, the canvas only comes in two sizes, which restricts its usefulness for most boats.

OUR VERDICT

The Classic Accessories model fits snugly on bigger boats thanks to an elastic cord and adjustable straps. The rear vents keep up the air circulation to prevent mildew so this canvas is good for off-season storage. Plus, the UV protection and waterproof material choice make this a viable cover for outdoors. Of course, it's for captains of sizeable schooners only!

Safe from the Storm

Let’s not beat around the bush, nobody wants to get into a boat that’s covered in mildew or leaking in several places. That would be an unsafe choice and, besides, you should take pride in your vessel and keep it safe from such damage. So don’t hesitate to get the MSC Heavy Duty 600D to make sure that mildew and the elements don’t leave your ship beached.

The canvas is made of extra-thick and waterproof polyester to prevent puddles accumulating in the vessel as excess moisture could damage the paint job and more. Of course, rain isn’t your only enemy as a boat left out in the sun will end up faded with peeling paint. That’s why the cover has a dual-layer PU coating that absorbs sunlight and keeps the boat safe.

As for fitting, the MSC 600D comes in a variety of sizes so you’ll find the right one no matter how big your vessel is. The canvas stretches over the top of the boat as well as the sides, protecting the whole ship. However, it may take a while to put on as the material is quite weighty and stretching it over the boat alone requires some strength. Still, it’s better to have a heavy tent than a measly piece of fabric that even a light breeze could tear off.

Speaking of tearing off, that’s not going to be an issue with the MSC 600D thanks to several adjustable straps fixating the cover in place on all sides. Nothing short of a gale wind will be able to rip the canvas off of the boat.

In the end, it comes down to this: are you ready to pay just a bit more to get a tent that will keep your boat in mint condition for years? Because if you’re looking for quality, the MSC 600D waterpoof boat cover is offering just that. Water rolls off the canvas without seeping into the ship, sunlight doesn’t get through the thick polyester, and neither rain nor wind will ever be a danger to your prized vessel.

Above the Weather

A captain is always judged by the cleanliness of his vessel. If your boat has been left in the backyard for too long and looks more like a shipwreck the Leader Accessories Fit will help remedy that.

This canvas is made of sturdy yet lightweight polyester fabric with a urethane coating which keeps the water rolling off without dripping into the boat. The material does have some air holes to make sure that mildew doesn’t grow if the cover is left on for too long but the vents are placed on the sides so moisture isn’t going to seep through them.

However, the UV, water, and mildew resistance wouldn’t be worth much if a gust of wind blew the cover off. Thankfully, the canvas has reinforced seams and the stern area is extra-stretchy to make sure it doesn’t tear easily. The straps will keep the canvas wrapped tightly around the hull but be careful when you use the buckles as they seem a bit flimsy and could snap.

We also recommend cleaning the cover regularly as it has several light-refracting strips to make it visible in the dark to prevent accidents during travel. It may seem unlikely but people regularly bump into trailered boats during nightly drives and that's definitely the kind of shipwreck you should avoid.

If you seek a cover for a boat that will be easy to put on by yourself, the Leader Accessories is sure to fit your needs as well as your ship. The elastic band stretches over any vessel regardless of shape and the reinforced material makes the canvas more durable, great value for the money!

Set Sail for Safety!

Sailors in the old times were always in danger of sails being torn by a particularly nasty gust of wind. And even if your boat is a simple sail-less canoe, it should still be protected from the elements with something reliable like the Seamander Fits canvas.

This tent is made out of woven polycanvas, which is designed to withstand gale winds and keep rain away from the vessel. The interlocking double stitches in the canvas make it more durable and damage-resistant, while the 12 straps spread out on all sides keep it affixed tightly to the boat.

While regular fabric would absorb moisture and eventually let the rainwater seep into the boat, the double PU coating on this polycanvas lets water drops glide off. The coating does tend to fade under the influence of UV rays but it’s not like you’re buying the cover for its color, right?

The Seamander Fits lives up to its name as it comes in 5 sizes to accommodate vessels of all sizes. Though it does seem like the canvas may stick out a bit if your boat has some unusual add-ons so the Seamander is definitely designed with classic ships in mind.

All in all, we see some room for improvement in this particular canvas but it’s already a reliable and extra-strong cover to keep your ship safe from the weather. Good fit for simple canoes and basic boat types.

Bargain Ahoy!

While a boat’s destination may be on the water, there’s definitely no place for water in the boat itself, especially when it’s on the shore. So get the Brightent Heavy Duty BC1 and keep your ship dry and ready for sailing even when the spring showers are pouring down.

These canvas boat covers are made of woven polyester, which may not seem all that sturdy due to its low weight. However, it’s a time-tested choice with 600-denier fabric strength proving that you’d sooner pull a muscle than make even a tiny tear in this material.

Besides, no matter how hard the rain will fall, the PU coating will keep those drops sliding off without seeping into the boat. Though the canvas does seem a bit short on the sides and thus some water could roll right onto the outer part of the boat and we did spot some complaints about water pooling on the keel. Still, the latter seems to be a case of the cover not being stretched properly rather than a fault of the fabric.

It’s a shame that the Brightent BC1 only comes in two sizes as it would be quite a good fit for many types of vessels. The canvas is easy to fixate reliably thanks to not only 8 straps but an extra belt that’s a whopping 59 feet long and will help you tie the cover to the boat so tightly that the wind would carry off the whole trailer before actually getting the fabric off.

So check to see if you’re among the lucky few that could fit this cover onto your vessel and if you are… Captain, we’ve spotted an admirable bargain!

A Limited Offer

Owners of extra large boats know the pain of scouring for a cover that fits properly. Most models seem designed for small vessels but bigger ships need to be protected from the elements just as much! That’s why we’ve found the excellent Classic Accessories StormPro, made to fit boats with higher beam width.

This marine grade polyester will be easy to stretch over the hull as it’s lightweight and fitted with an elastic band. The StormPro canvas guarantees complete protection as long as your beam width is below 116 inches. It seals the boat so well that no dust can get through, while the dual rear vents keep up the air circulation to prevent mildew. If you’d prefer a looser fit you can always adjust the straps on the canvas, just be careful not to fiddle with the quick-release buckles as they can be undone in a matter of seconds.

Of course, the cover is also waterproof and keeps rain from filling up the vessel. Plus, it solves the issue of liquid pooling in irregularly-shaped spaces like the central console. Just use the free boat cover support pole to prop up areas where puddles tend to form and the water will roll right off. Honestly, if the StormPro cover came in more than one size, we’d have been worried about the competition as this kit provides excellent protection and has a pretty reasonable price, considering the quality you get. If your vessel is large enough for this canvas, don’t hesitate to get it.

What Is a Boat Cover?

Regardless of the type of ship you have, taking good care of it not only shows that you’re a worthy captain but also extends the service time of the vessel. That’s where a trailerable boat cover comes into play. These canvases are designed to be stretched over the vessel and protect it from wind, rain, and dust. As long as you’ve put the tent on properly, the ship won’t have rainwater accumulating at the bottom or paint peeling under the constant influence of sunlight.

When choosing the canvas, make sure that it will fit over your boat’s shape snugly and that it’s sturdy enough to withstand bad weather and regular transportation. Check the material’s denier level as that’s the primary way to determine the strength of the fabric. Also, make sure the coating is actually the water-resistant kind and won’t get soaked in the rain as the liquid will seep through such bass boat covers and pool in the boat. And don’t confuse waterproof with water-resistant as one costs more and may be overkill unless your state gest tropical rainstorms frequently. As always, common sense, a good cover, and some tips from professionals will keep your boat afloat.

If your ship did end up damaged, try taking an inflatable boat out on the water while you wait for repairs to be done. And don’t forget a high-quality fishing rod that will help improve your catch.
