What customers say about "Key Specs"
Celestron Travel Scope 50 (21038) Telescope (Black)
  • There are better scopes out there, sure, but it's a great beginner scope for kids and amateurs. I got this for my 7 year old who has shown interest in the Cosmos.
  • The scope itself is excellent. 5 Star's for the scope (Picture quality). 2 Stars for the rest.
  • The only thing I wish the barlow magnifier was a bit better it was not as clear as we hoped when compared to another scope we used to view the planets but over all great for a starter.
  • The scope gives a very clear field of view. It's light and very portable which is what I was looking for.
  • Good entry level refactor. Excellent optics, truly awful tripod and spotting scope.
Celestron Travel Scope 70 (21035) Travel Scope
  • This is a great scope and I use it for target practice, star gazing, and general snooping from balconies while on vacation. The tripod is flimsy as others report.
  • It works about as well as any other scope in this price range. The lens that came in the box gave a max of 40x.
  • Works as needed. Light weight. One flaw for me, the spotting scope (small one) is upside down view.
  • Just wanted something to try out the hobby, these little travel scopes came highly suggested to me and gave it a try. Was not disappointed. The tripod is super cheap, but the scope is a lot of fun.
  • Good scope for the value. Lightweight and compact. Took it to Utah on a carry on and arrived unscathed.

What customers say about "Features"
Celestron Travel Scope 50 (21038) Telescope (Black)
  • I plan on attaching my DSLR for terrestrial photos. Best features - nice clear optics, very easy to put together, very light for trips, very affordable.
  • It works quite well for that. On clear days, I can even see clear across to the other side well enough to pick out meaningful features like houses & docks.
  • This is a well thought out product and a great value. It works well, has all the features you would want and does not skimp on providing the adjustment/controls you need, even providing the adjustment wheel for both left and right handed.
  • This telescope elicited mostly favorable responses and convinced me that with all its features it would be a good buy.
  • Works great and you can actually see the stars. Us parents are enjoying it too!Have yet to use the extra features.
Celestron Travel Scope 70 (21035) Travel Scope
  • I wish it were a little stronger, but you can't beat the value and features for the price.

  • The telescope itself is pretty nice. It's all plastic exterior, of course but it has a number of nice features for what I consider a very beginner telescope.

What customers say about "Mount Information"
Celestron Travel Scope 50 (21038) Telescope (Black)
  • When mounted on a simple Eq. tracking mount I am getting better pictures than with my C925 that has been a significant source of disappointment. For this price there is no better telescope in the market.
  • Over all a great beginner telescope the Mount does wobble a bit though and it doesn't center on an object easily or I could just be doing it wrong
  • The mount on the tripod tilts back too easy and the screw may need to be replaced
  • Decent scope but the mount is terrible (due to both its type and construction), enough so that I can't really recommend this.
  • It mounted to my tripod but my tripod doesn't move smoothly so it's still hard to use.
Celestron Travel Scope 70 (21035) Travel Scope
  • Does a pretty good job for such a small scope. I like the portability. However, thankfully, I had a heavier tripod I mounted it on.
  • The tripod mount is not designed for DSLR photography. But with the included smartphone adapter, it is easy to use iPhone and android to take photo.
  • The real problem here is the tripod. The telescope has the same mounting point as a camera, and the tripod is definitely re-purposed from a camera.
  • Doesn't stay mounted on the tripod. Screw doesn't stay in place. Looking for a better scope to buy
  • Flimsy flimsy flimsy, the tripod mount has serious issues, trying to secure the scope to a fixed position between 45degree and 90degress and it just slips under the weight.
