What customers say about "Key Specs"
Uniden BCD996P2 Digital T.T. V, Close Call, 25000 Ch, 4Line Alpha display Base/Mobile, Phase 2
  • This unit has very good audio quality. The P-25 phase 1 decode seems quite good.
  • Great sensitivity and selectivity! Picks up very well and not much intermod from nearby strong signals. I would recommend this scanner to anyone who has the patience (it's not difficult) to learn the dynamic memory setup. P25 phase one clear as a bell also; Don't have phase II in my area yet.
  • This scanner is capable of receiving the majority of everything (not encrypted) in the Police/Fire/Public Service/Military Air/Gov/Misc bands in either analog or digital modes. It receives APCO P-25 digital (both Phase I & II) signals great for me with a stock antenna.
  • This is an awesome radio works great and gets everything I wanted. Once everything is setup the scanner is awesome plenty of room for thousands of channels. The APCO channels come in nice and clear with no problems.
  • I love the scanner but the CLOSE CALL is a pain in the rear having to lock out channels every ten minutes or when passing a strong close call signal. Actually I don't think Uniden should have close call installed in a scanner.
  • I had a police officer (technician) try to help me set this up, but we still couldn't get local channels to work. However, we could get them to work on other devices, so I have to say this one isn't that great.
Uniden BCD536HP Digital Phase 2 Base/Mobile Scanner
  • The best way is a DSP receiver, and you can only obtain that by buying a Motorola, Harris radio (which you cannot legally program properly), a Pricey Unification Pager, or set up a software defined radio (for geeks).
  • Simply enter your zip code and it will find many frequencies used in your area.
  • If you're a 'newbie' to scanning, setup is remarkably simple: power it up, set the time and date, and insert your zip code...and in seconds, after it loads in the appropriate information, you're scanning local traffic...fire, police, EMS, utilities, HAMs, railroads, you name it..
  • The good stuff comes when you load the FREE Sentinel software that also come pre loaded on the removable micro SD card. It provides the ability to easily program in "Favorites' of channels you group to listen to according to taste.
  • Very slow scan rate, expected better for computer priced scanner.

What customers say about "Sensitivity (12db Sinad) Nominal"
Uniden BCD996P2 Digital T.T. V, Close Call, 25000 Ch, 4Line Alpha display Base/Mobile, Phase 2
  • This scanner is very sensitive, has good quality audio and enables you to listen to almost everything the Police and Fire use. I am also receiving commercial and military aircraft, trains and HAM Radio.
  • Scanner works great, it's very sensitive and you can hear everything.
  • Good sensitivity, no intermod and good selectivity.
  • The Front End in this scanner is very sensitive and overloads if you live in a major metro area and you connect it to an outside antenna. I solved the problem by using a Splitter/Attenuator between the antenna and the scanner.
  • High sensitivity. Great on all frequencies. A bit difficult to program. Computer and software needed. Works flawlessly!!!
Uniden BCD536HP Digital Phase 2 Base/Mobile Scanner
  • Very sensitive receiver Receives analog and P25 digital and capable to upgrade the common digital modes Provoice and DMR at small cost.
  • VHF sensitivity is better than I expected it would be based on user comments I’d read. The radio looks and sounds great!
  • Their sensitivity at VHF and UHF is comparable to the GRE units that they replaced. I use one of these in my base station and one in my mobile. So far they are working GREAT!
  • It Has good receiver sensitivity even with antenna attached to rear of receiver.
  • Very sensitive as well. Living in central Florida, I can monitor service from both coasts, using a discone style antenna.

What customers say about "Features"
Uniden BCD996P2 Digital T.T. V, Close Call, 25000 Ch, 4Line Alpha display Base/Mobile, Phase 2
  • With the included antenna I could hear the local police and fire easily in my basement. With an outside antenna I now hear the state.
  • This is really easy to program when using the programming software that you must download from the Uniden website, it is money well spent.
  • By far my favorite feature is the display alert. Programmed frequencies can be setup to change the display color when the channel is active. Very useful if the volume is low, and if you're annoyed by priority cutouts.
  • This is also my first GPS scanner. The GPS feature works well. You decide which systems/groups you want GPS to control, and then the scanner automatically locks and unlocks the sites or groups in your systems as you travel.
  • Its a good scanner but I wasn't able to get it programmed so I returned it.
  • Very great features. Programming is a bit difficult without software. There are great how to videos on youtube though.
Uniden BCD536HP Digital Phase 2 Base/Mobile Scanner
  • Screen is larger and displays more details about target; has 32 larger font characters across another 4 for HOLD status.
  • The radio itself is built well and has a nice display. With the reviews I have seen about the backlight, I'm running it at less intensity than full.
  • Love the large rich contrast display that shows tons of info on what you're hearing. It is actually VERY intuitive to use if you have any experience using scanners.
  • There are more problems, the back light on some displays are fading over time. And another issue that I recently confirmed with my last 536HP is the rear speaker jack has a constant background noise.
  • Nice radio, but my display is just way too dark. Even on highest brightness with best contrast, it's way too dark. And it never should have been advertised as Wi-Fi enabled before it was perfected.
