What customers say about "Key Specs"
Optoma GT1080 3D DLP Short Throw Gaming Projector
  • Resolution: DVD's are not too bad. No obvious artifacting except as I noted earlier, but best performance is with Blu-Ray discs.
  • Brightness in Theater and Game modes is perfect.
  • Very bright and great contrast, quiet, minimal rainbow effect, quick enough response time for most gamers.
  • The screen is slightly curved around the edges, and the image is not uniformly focused (slight blur near the edges).
  • Rainbow effect- it's there if you look for it (e.g. when you flit your eyes back and forth during dark scenes). It bothered me during the first few weeks of use, but I seldom notice it now.
Optoma GT1080Darbee 3D DLP Short Throw Gaming Projector
  • Picture quality - Looks better to me than my previous 70inch LED tv. The colors are amazing. Black levels are also very good.
  • The image quality is superb and color calibration is so close to right where you want it, right out of the box.
  • HD quality is great, although you might notice a slight rainbow if you're really close to the screen.
  • On normal or bright settings, it runs hot and rather loud (I am at high altitude).
  • I'ts not as bright as I thought.

What customers say about "Display"
Optoma GT1080 3D DLP Short Throw Gaming Projector
  • 3D: With proper DLP Link 3D glasses, performance is magnificent. The syncing emitter isn't really needed.
  • Picture- sharp, clear, and colorful. I'm sure the quality can be bested by more expensive projectors, but it's good enough for the price.
  • Rich vibrant colors, tons of coloring options. Animation speed is pretty consistent with high end TVs, better than most value priced LCD from Walmart/target etc.
  • No horizontal keystoning: When I say it needs to be DEAD center, I mean DEAD CENTER...as in even a degree off will annoy you.
  • The manual focus: as long as it is in place and not bumped, nudged, moved or shifted in any way, focus remains clean and crisp.
Optoma GT1080Darbee 3D DLP Short Throw Gaming Projector
  • Short throw - 100" from 3.5 feet away. This is a huge plus for me since I have it in a smaller room.
  • Very good picture - At 100" everything looks great when watching HD content.
  • No rainbow effect - I've read others that say they see this but I've yet to notice it even once.
  • Screen size is big without sacrificing image quality.
  • Darbee mode: vivid colors more detailed and almost true black. Darbee demo mode is so fun to watch regular mode compared to Darbee mode.
  • No horizontal keystone.
  • It doesn't auto focus or auto keystone correct like the Epson.

What customers say about "Features"
Optoma GT1080 3D DLP Short Throw Gaming Projector
  • Connectivity: Since the only thing I have hooked to it is my game console, the two HDMI's do not bother me at all, and without a receiver, the 3.5mm jack to my Logitech Z-623s has been a blessing.
  • Power Saving Auto-Off: I fall asleep sometimes watching movies late. After 30 minutes of detecting no signal, it automatically shuts off. My wallet and electricity usage thanks you, Optoma!
  • Short throw feature- saves space, and allows us to stand up and play Wii games without blocking the projection.
  • Built-in speakers- don't expect hi-fi, but it's loud enough to fill a large, quiet room.
  • Remote codes: My Xbox One Kinect can turn it off by voice, but it can't turn it on...yeah, I know - first world problems.
  • Not loud but not quiet: not the worst con, as a decent surround sound system in all but the quietest scenes will negate this effect.
  • The projector gets VERY hot. Don't plan on putting it in an enclosed space (duh) and don't place any other electronics anywhere near the vent.
Optoma GT1080Darbee 3D DLP Short Throw Gaming Projector
  • Internal speaker - It's honestly not bad if you had to use it. I would never use it to watch movies, but it would be good for presentations.
  • Very very quiet fan - I can't hear the fan at all. I sit about 5 feet behind projector. Only way I ever hear it is to mute the volume.
  • Longer lamp life of 8000 hour compared to about 5000 average on others.
  • The unit is lighter; noticeably lighter and easy to setup.
  • No lens position adjustment (side/side or up/down).
