Natural-Looking Habitat

This Exo Terra terrarium is easily up there with the best prospects on the market today. Its waterproof base with this fixed, extra-high front lower panel enables the deepest layers substrate, also providing the necessary space for glass-mounted decoration items. At the same time, the panel can just as well be used to create water features as high as the ventilation strip.

Meanwhile, the terrarium's bottom glass panel is raised, facilitating mounting substrate heaters or heat cables. The raised panel also prevents standard heating accessory problems that are normally associated with aquarium-style terrariums. This raised design solution works wonders keeping the entire bottom panel well-ventilated, ensuring optimal hot and cold spots.

Deeper than most aquarium-style tanks, this terrarium offers extended ground surface, providing the necessary space to accommodate desert and ground-dwelling reptiles and amphibians.

Other than that, the natural-looking rock background blends nicely with most Exo Terra accessories, creating this authentic-looking habitat but also providing extra climbing dimension and pretty much endless design opportunities.

In short, this natural terrarium puts most aquarium/tanks to shame.

Easy to Access and Maintain

The Exo Terra Outback Terrarium is comfortable and accessible.

Its front-opening doors enable easy access, so you'll have no issues maintaining the tank and feeding the pets inside this tank. The lock here has been specially designed to prevent escape, letting you open the doors separately.

Meanwhile, the full-screen top ventilation enables UVB and infrared penetration, so you'll be able to make various amphibians and reptiles pretty comfortable. Also, you can easily remove the top to secure the quick access necessary to decorate or clean the tank.

In the back, you'll find five wire/tube inlets. These inlets are closable. You'll find them on both sides. You can use these inlets to install various sensors, waterfalls, heat-wave rocks, and more inside this terrarium.

As it is normally the case, the terrarium's bottom plate is raised to enable mounting substrate heaters that will be able to keep the entire extended ground surface nice and warm.

Last but not least, the front window is raised here too, so you'll be able to easily mount Exo Terra reptile dens.

The downsides are basically limited to the fact that there are little hollow parts on the bottom where certain snakes might be able to hide from prying eyes. Apart from that, this tank is top-notch.

Going Mayan

The Exo Terra Glass Terrarium Mayan is pretty standard yet somewhat different compared to most Exo Terra terrariums. For the most part, the construction is nothing we haven't seen before.

At the same time, its vertical design makes the tank different enough. Measuring 24" x 18" x 18", with 24 inches there telling you its height, you'll have no issues finding enough space for this tank.

Apart from that, again, there's not much here we haven't seen previously. The lower panel on the front is fixed and raised, enabling deep layers of substrate and providing the space required to install glass-mounted decoration items. The panel will also let you create difficult water features reaching even the vent strip.

The bottom panel has been raised to aid mounting various heat cables/substrate heaters or heat cable, also preventing different heating problems and keeping the entire bottom ventilated enough to secure cold and hot spots where these spots are supposed to be.

The screen on the top is relatively thin though, so we would recommend exercising caution around that area.

Besides that, you can do whatever you want with this tall terrarium, its stainless steel mesh cover and plastic elements are more rugged and durable than you'd think.

Enough Space Inside

The Exo Terra Allglass Terrarium is another vertical terrarium that we've decided to put on this list. In many ways, these tall tanks are more convenient than generic wide aquariums.

The product trails behind the previous entry on this list only because the terrarium measures 18" x 12" x 12", which is a size that might not be able to accommodate multiple large amphibians/reptiles. On the upside, you'll be able to easily find the necessary space to place this tank.

Again, these tanks are usually quite similar and this model is no exception to that rule. The front-opening doors will let you comfortably clean the tank and feed the pets.

Meanwhile, the escape-proof dual-door lock will work wonders preventing escape. There are two doors here but these doors are tight, so we would recommend opening both simultaneously.

The front window comes equipped with vents to promote airflow and keep the tank nice and breathable. At the same time, the raised bottom frame will let you fit substrate heaters inside the terrarium.

Long story short, Exo Terra Allglass Terrarium is an excellent compact tank that will be able to house most small and medium-sized reptiles and amphibians (like most bearded dragons, geckos, and even chameleons).

The Most Compact Tank

The Exo Terra Nano Wide Terrarium measures 8" x 8" x 8", meaning that it is easily the most compact tank within this selection.

Setting the size aside though, what we have here is as good of a terrarium as any.

Sure, the single-door construction makes this tank somewhat uncomfortable to clean compared to terrariums with two doors.

The door opens easily though, enabling hassle-free misting and feeding. The lock will be able to prevent children from opening the tank and make sure that pets are unable to leave the tank when you don't want them to do so.

The stainless steel mesh cover will be able to promote UVB and infrared penetration. Of course, you can always remove this cover to comfortably clean and decorate the tank.

There are inlets on both sides of the tank. These inlets are closable, making sure that children are unable to accidentally harm themselves. The inlets let you securely run wires and tubing inside the tank.

Last but not least, the base is leakproof, so you won't have to worry about different amphibians and reptiles creating a mess.

Bottom line, the Exo Terra Nano Wide Terrarium is as convenient and comfortable for different pets as it is for the owner. Generally speaking, you'll have no issues keeping the tank nice and clean.

What Is an Exo Terra Terrarium?

Exo Terra Terrariums are tanks that have been designed to accommodate different amphibians and reptiles, keeping them comfortable but also making sure that you're able to easily maintain/upkeep the tank.

There are various solutions that the people behind these tanks are using to make that happen. First, these terrariums usually incorporate mesh covers that ensure excellent airflow but are tight enough to prevent small snakes from escaping the tank. More often than not, these tanks come equipped with raised bottom frames to enable you to install substrate heaters and heat cables since those are often necessary to keep some reptiles warm and healthy.

Apart from that, these Exo Terra tanks are not complete without locks that let you make sure that pets cannot escape the terrarium and kids are unable to accidentally open these terrariums to facilitate the pets' grand escape plans.

Generally speaking, these tanks come fitted with sturdy plastic frames and rugged steel walls to prevent the toughest amphibians/reptiles from breaking them.

Alternatively, you can look into these bird cages and hamster cages if you're not into snakes and such.
